The Deadman Mansions are in full swing with our teams fighting to win their chosen charities $10,000! Who are you supporting, B0aty and TeamCBS? Or Faux and TeamLUL?

Deadman Mansions
Unless you've been living under a rock the last few days, you may have heard of Deadman Mansions! We've moved ten of our biggest Deadman content creators into two mansions where they will be competing to win their chosen charities $10,000!

Throughout the week #TeamCBS and #TeamLUL will be tasked to complete a series of in-game challenges to win their teams points. Of course points do mean prizes, in this case $10,000, so you can expect our teams to be fighting furiously to complete these challenges.

The Week Ahead
Our Deadman Mansions players have a tough week ahead! Despite having Chef PureSpam cooking up tasty beans on toast and eggs most mornings, our players need to level their adventurers up to compete in the Final Hour whilst on stage at RuneFest 2017. In addition, all of our players will be required to be taking part in the challenges set and the forfeits if they lose...

There will be daily streams at 8pm BST (7pm UTC) on the RuneScape Twitch channel to recap on the progress being made by our teams, and our Mansion's guests will be live throughout the day too!

We've also let B0aty's team, #TeamCBS, take control of our Instagram for the week (oldschool.runescape) and Faux's team, #TeamLUL, have taken over the Old School Snapchat (runescapeos). Follow their shenanigans now to get access to all the behind the scenes content.

The Big Giveaway!
To ensure the best event possible, we've teamed up with ASUS UK and the Republic of Gamers to provide some serious gaming hardware to our content creators. The kind folk over at ASUS have also given us two GL753 gaming laptops to give away! And that's not all, one of these laptops will be used by B0aty throughout the week and signed by #TeamCBS, and the other by Faux and signed by #TeamLUL! So if you're wishing to get yourself an RGB, dedicated graphics, beast of a gaming laptop, you need to enter now!

We hope that you enjoy the Deadman Mansions week and all the content surrounding it! Be sure to follow us on Instagram (oldschool.runescape) and Snapchat (runescapeos) so you don't miss anything.

RuneFest Shield and the Halloween reward poll

RuneFest Shield and the Halloween reward poll

Originele tekst

This week's update is a quiet one as we prepare for RuneFest. The RuneFest item for 2017 is here, and we implement the changes required for the Final Hour of the Deadman Autumn Invitational, and the Deadman Winter Season.
Afbeelding

RuneFest Shield
RuneFest hits us on Saturday 23rd September, and this year we're releasing a new cosmetic shield. This ornate shield offers no defensive stats, and is purely for fashionscape. The shield is for those attending RuneFest and those tuning in to the all-day stream on twitch.tv/runescape (though I'm sure the item code will find its way into the public domain in no time at all!). Those of you who do obtain the code will be able to redeem it by talking to Diango in Draynor Village.

This year's RuneFest is Old School's biggest yet. We're commanding a lot more stage time and the Old School - The Next 12 Months in particular is not to be missed! More information on RuneFest can be found on this newspost and see below for scheduling information.

Deadman Autumn Final and Winter Season
Today we implemented the mechanics which will drive the Final Hour. For all information pertaining to the Autumn Invitational see this newspost which clarifies the ins and outs of what might be our most ambitious final yet.

Don't forget the Deadman Autumn Invitational will conclude live at RuneFest. We'll be streaming the Final Hour live from twitch.tv/runescape at 4pm UTC.

The Winter Season will begin with the end of the Autumn Invitational. A host of changes will be made to ensure the Season remains as fresh and competitive as it can be. More information can be found on this newspost, with further in-depth clarification to arrive later today.

Please also note that in preparation for the beginning of the Deadman Winter Season a number of new Worlds will appear in the Worlds list. They will appear offline, this is intended as they'll be made live with the Season's start.

Halloween Skin Poll
We're already hard at work designing the Halloween event for this year. Whilst we'll keep the story of the event under wraps, we'd like to offer a new skin colour as a reward for completion of the event.

Are you feeling blue, green, or perhaps a bit purple? Head to this strawpoll to cast your vote on which colour we implement.

The purpose of this blog is to detail as much as possible prior to the poll going live in-game to allow for player feedback. Following feedback on previous blogs, we're trying something new this time by breaking things down into a lot more detail than usual. Also, we're purposefully not saying much about the actual quest and how it will play out as we don't want to ruin the surprise!Prove yourself a true champion. Kill the mighty dragon Elvarg of Crandor and earn the right to buy and wear the Rune PlatebodyIt has been 16 years to the day that the earliest Champion first heeded these words and set upon one of the most iconic challenges within RuneScape. In answering this call to arms the great adventurer would navigate Melzar's Maze, traverse the island of Crandor and inflict revenge upon Elvarg.
AfbeeldingThe Quest
30 years prior to the fateful day a mighty adventurer awakened Elvarg from her slumber, Crandor was a thriving and very much alive island, with a great tradition of mages and adventurers. The history of the Crandor is a bold one, enough so that many a Crandorian earned the right to be part of the Champions' Guild! The Crandor we know today is very different from that of the past and there are so many questions that remain unanswered - your chance to uncover the secrets of the past starts with Dragon Slayer II.Dragon Slayer II will lead you on an adventure across the game, visiting locations new and old. Along the way, you will uncover new lore on the Dragons, as well as hearing the story of many a brave hero. Expect to complete challenging puzzles, traverse through undiscovered dungeons with multiple threats and face against some of the most fearsome foes we've ever introduced into the game! Dragon Slayer II will be a new Grandmaster quest with some of the highest requirements for any quest to date. For such a challenge, those able to complete the quest are sure to be rewarded greatly - so much so that we are detailing and offering all rewards separately.
Poll QuestionShould we add the quest Dragon Slayer II to Old School RuneScape? It will be rewarded with 5 Quest Points.

Deadman Winter Season

Originele tekst

The Deadman Winter Season

The Deadman Winter Season begins at approximately 5:30pm UTC! The top 2000 players of the Season will qualify for the Deadman Winter Invitational which will run from Monday 11th December to Saturday 16th December. We're delighted to announce that $20,000 will again be awarded to the winner of the Invitational.Afbeelding

Winter Season Clarification
The season runs from approximately 5:30pm UTC 23rd September until game update on 26th October.

We received lots of feedback on the combat XP cap we implemented in the previous, so for the Winter Season we are capping this XP at 500k per day, or 750k per day in Attack and Strength.

Hitpoints XP will only be gained alongside combat XP. Once your daily combat XP cap is reached, you'll no longer gain Hitpoints XP. Hitpoints XP does not count towards the daily cap.

Outside of safe zones you'll now get 15x XP in combat and 10x XP in other skills. Within safe zones you'll now get 10x XP in combat and 5x XP in other skills.

There is a 50x rebuild rate on XP in stats that have been lost on death.

Unskulled players protect all XP lost on death.

Dying with, or dropping, a stack of chinchompas will cause it to appear on the ground, visible to all players.

All rune and arrow shops now restock at a much faster rate. Fletching & crafting supply stores will also restock at a faster rate. Lower tier equipment will restock faster than higher tier equipment, for example: an air rune will restock faster than a death rune.

There is a skull penalty for all players attacking a skulled player. The skull penalty will last for 5 minutes. If you previously had a skull with less than 5 minutes remaining it will revert to 5 minutes. If you previously had a skull with longer than 5 minutes remaining it will remain unchanged.

There is a 1 minute grace period for reasonable kills. This grace period will be a temporary status of immunity from the attacks of other players. A reasonable kill can be defined as killing a player within 30 combat levels of yourself. If killing a combat level higher than yourself you will always receive this grace period of immunity (e.g. a level 90 killing a level 126 will receive the grace period). If you die or attack another player within this minute then you will lose the remaining grace period. The grace period will be lost upon logging out.

The Protect from Magic protection prayer does not halve the duration of the Bind, Snare, and Entangle spells.

POH pools are unavailable for 3 minutes after combat.

Barrows, Raids, Zulrah, and Lava dragons are inaccessible for the entire season.

The following quests will automatically complete after one week: Horror From The Deep, King's Ransom, Black Knights' Fortress, Holy Grail, Merlin's Crystal, Murder Mystery, One Small Favour, Rune Mysteries, Shilo Village, Jungle Potion, Druidic Ritual, Monkey Madness, Tree Gnome Village, The Grand Tree, Animal Magnetism, Restless Ghost, Ernest the Chicken, Priest in Peril, Lost City.

Desert Treasure will automatically complete after two weeks.

Ancient Magicks will not be usable until after two weeks, regardless of whether you completed it yourself.

All players are able to purchase the Recipe for Disaster reward gloves even if they haven't completed all sub-quests.

All players are able to access completed god books from the Lighthouse.

A change to losing items on death has been implemented. Now you will only lose 80% of an item's stack. This applies only to stacks of 5 or more. For example: if you had 4 Abyssal whips, you'd lose them all. If you had 5 Abyssal whips, you'd lose only 4 of them.

In addition to the normal loot offered by killing them, Callisto, Venenatis, Vet'ion and the Chaos Elemental also have a 1 in 3 chance of dropping a single 4-dose Saradomin brew.

In addition to the normal loot offered by killing them, Scorpia, Crazy Archaeologist and the Chaos Fanatic also have a 1 in 5 chance of dropping a single 4-dose Saradomin brew.

Deadman Autumn review

Deadman Autumn review

Originele tekst

Since the Deadman final on Saturday you've been discussing a number of things such as targeted DDoSing, allegations of staff favouritism, broken game mechanics, and unfair disqualifications. It hasn't been missed by us. With a wider RuneFest event going on around the Deadman final, the right thing to do was wait until the team were ready and on-hand to discuss the Deadman final in its entirety, and reach a consensus of where we want to go from here. We're proud of our attempts to continue innovating to ensure a fresh and competitive finish to each tournament. The initial reaction to distributing survivors across four Islands was very positive, and it's clear that we're moving in the right direction. The red island was warned repeatedly, and we reached out many, many times to them. Whilst we did appropriately warn players that failure to fight would result in disqualification, it ultimately did mean that we had to make a tough decision 'in the moment'. In hindsight perhaps we could've opted to take a random member of the team through to the final area, but we stand by the decision we made. Every decision made was a joint Old School team decision. It's a concept that carries all the way through our recruitment process (the team interview potential applicants), and is core to the way we function. It's how we operate year-round, and Deadman is no different. Old School staff are recruited not only for their skills, but also for their game knowledge and love for RuneScape. We encourage members of the team to be active players and engage in regular community interaction. No Jagex employees have competed in any competitive gaming event, and no staff have profited from any prize money awarded. The last survivor of the final has been disqualified. A standard subsequent investigation into the winner of the tournament took place and the winner was responsible for the creation of a bot farm. Naturally all accounts linked to this botting activity have now been banned. This then raises the question of what to do with the prize money. At the moment we're discussing what to do with it. A few ideas we have at the moment are another charitable donation, dispersing the money among the finalists, or carrying it over to the next season (or a combination of all of these). Allegations of a varying nature have emerged over the past few days, but the fact is that we can't prove any of these claims because any footage and allegations are entirely circumstantial. Rest assured that we are dedicated to providing you with the education resources that you need ensuring that you remain as protected as you possibly can be. Whilst it's impossible to police individual IP addresses we can at least work together to prevent any attack through understanding of how to avoid any potential DDoSing attacks. Going forwards we'll be utilising a number of the points raised in today's retrospective. We'll continue to discuss how best we can change the mechanics of the final, with a view to implementing the changes as early as possible and with a potential beta playthrough. We're investigating what engine work is required to avoid the issues with eating food when in an area with a large number of players. We'll be working closely with Player Support's ICU team to produce an extensive guide to protecting your IP address and avoiding individual DDoS attacks, as well as increasing the amount of resource required to tackle issues such as botting, muling, and boxing. Holding the event at RuneFest was a great occasion, particularly for those attending in person, but on reflection we're better served if the Deadman final is an event in its own right and we aren't confined to the schedule of a larger event. The Myths Guild

Afbeelding
Images and detail are currently a WIP and are subject to change

"As time passes, that which was once fact, becomes myth. Some tales are just that, tales. However, some tales are something more..." - Alec Kincade, Guildmaster.

The Myths Guild is a new guild located on a small island south of Feldip Hills. It is a guild dedicated to unearthing fact and dispelling notions of fiction. The island is accessed via a small bridge from the mainland. Players with 200 or more quest points will be able to enter the lobby of the guild. However, full access to the guild is only available to players who have completed Dragon Slayer II.

The Myths guild will contain:

A bank (with deposit box and poll booth)
An armoury containing a shopkeeper and an anvil.
A kitchen containing a range and a sink
A garden containing 4 Magic Trees.
A mine containing 4 Adamantite rocks and 2 Runite rocks.
A chapel containing an altar.
The Fountain of Myths - Can be used to recharge Skills necklaces, Combat bracelets and Amulets of glory. You will not get the chance of an Eternal glory.
A portal chamber with portals to the Champions' Guild, Heroes' Guild and Legend's Guild.
A library with various lore books.
A dungeon containing a selection of Blue, Red and Black Dragons (including baby dragons).

The armoury store will sell the following items:

Dragon dagger (30,000 coins)
Dragon mace (50,000 coins)
Dragon longsword (100,000 coins)
Dragon battleaxe (200,000 coins)
Shield right half (750,000 coins)
Dragon metal shard (2,000,000 coins) if Dragon Kiteshield/Platebody are added to the game only
Poll Question
If Dragon Slayer II is added, should we add the Myths Guild as described in the Dev Blog? Completion of Dragon Slayer II will be required to enter the Guild.
Poll Question
If the Myths Guild is added to the game, should it include a small selection of Green Dragons alongside the proposed dragons as described in the Dev Blog?

Mythical Cape

The Mythical Cape is a new cape which will provide unlimited teleports to the Myths Guild. It can be reclaimed from the armoury if lost. The cape would have no stats and other than the teleport will be for cosmetic purposes only. The teleport location will be further away from a bank than the current Crafting Guild teleport.
Poll Question
If we add the Myths guild, should you be able to obtain a Mythical Cape within the Guild? This cape would provide unlimited teleports to the Guild.
Afbeelding
We've had a lot of feedback regarding the Mythical Cape being cosmetic, and a lot of you would like to see it with some stats instead. We're happy to offer this as a seperate addition to the existing cape. We're proposing placing it somewhere between the Cape of Legends and Fire cape, with the addition of some Crush Attack bonus.

Poll Question
If the Mythical Cape is added to the game, should it have the stats as proposed in the Dragon Slayer II Dev blog rather than be cosmetic only?" - Reword to "If the Mythical Cape is added to the game, should it have the stats shown in the attached image? If this question fails, the cape will be cosmetic only.
Superior Antifire Potions
Upon completion of the quest, players will be able to talk to an NPC in the Myths guild to unlock the ability to create Superior antifire potions. Superior antifire potions can be created by combining Antifire potions with crushed Superior dragon bones, provided the player has a Herblore level of 92. Superior dragon bones will be covered later in this blog. Mixing a Superior antifire potion will yield 130xp per potion.
Superior antifire potions are tradeable and will provide complete fire protection for 2 minutes. Creating Superior antifire potions will provide minimal amounts of xp and should not be considered an effective way of training herblore. The using and trading of Superior antifire potions does not require completion of Dragon Slayer II, only the making of the potions requires quest completion.
Poll Question
If we add the Myths guild, should the Guild contain an NPC who can teach you how to create Superior antifire potions? These potions would offer full protection from Dragonfire, but only for two minutes. These potions would require 92 Herblore to make and would yield 130xp per potion.

Wrath Altar and Surge Spells

The Wrath Altar
Players with 95 and above Runecrafting would be able to craft a new tradeable Rune, known as Wrath runes. This would be done via the Wrath altar located within the guild. The altar is guarded by Dragons found within the Guild dungeon - these will not include Adamant or Rune Dragons. Access to the guild and the altar would only be unlocked after completing Dragon Slayer II. Players will need a Wrath talisman which would be dropped by Adamant Dragons, Rune Dragons or Vorkath – if the Wrath talisman was not added to the drop table of these NPC’s then we cannot add the Wrath altar. A Wrath tiara can also be used which is made in the usual way.
Afbeelding
Images and detail are currently a WIP and are subject to change

Crafting Wrath runes will provide less xp/hr than lava runes (approx. 30k/hour) and will require traversing through a dungeon filled with aggressive dragons of varying strength or via the Abyss. The use of the Abyss will be slower than going through the guild dungeon.

Wrath runes will be used in the Surge spells if they are added to the game. If the altar does not get added to the game and Surge spells pass the poll, the only way to obtain these runes will be via NPC drops. If the Wrath runes were not added to the drop table of these NPC’s then we cannot add the Surge spells.
Wrath runes and the Surge spells can be used without completing the quest. The Ourania Altar will not give Wrath runes.
Poll Question
If we add the Myths guild, should the Guild contain the Wrath Altar? Players with 95 Runecrafting would be able to craft Wrath Runes at the Altar for approximately 30k xp/hr.
Poll Question
If we add the Wrath Altar, should it be possible to use the Abyss to avoid traversing through the Myths Guild dungeon? Using the Abyss would be slower than going through the guild dungeon.
Surge Spells
We often get asked to give the Standard Spellbook some much-needed love and attention. With the possibility of Wrath runes being added to the game, now feels like the perfect time to introduce Surge Spells to Old School! The animation for these spells would be similar to the original design when they were first added.

Wrath runes and the Surge spells can be used without completing the quest

Note: the max hits listed below do not include the use of any damage boosting gear.
Afbeelding
The Tome of Fire will work with Fire Surge.
Poll Question
Should we add Surge spells to the game? These would form part of the standard spellbook and offers spells from Wind Surge (81 Magic) through to Fire Surge (95 Magic).

New Boss & Special Drops

Vorkath
Dragon Slayer II is sure to challenge your wits, as well as offering many a tough NPC you’ll have to defeat! We want to extend this challenge further by adding a new solo boss into the game – Vorkath (Who can be seen in the artwork heading this post). Vorkath will be a brand-new Dragon boss offering the long awaited upgrade to the accumulator, Ava’s Assembler, which is a new best in slot ranged cape, alongside a new ranged shield similar to the Dragonfire Shield known as the Dragonfire Ward.
Poll Question
If Dragon Slayer II is added to the game, should we add Vorkath, a new high level solo boss to the game? The boss would have a combat level between 600 and 700 and kills will be tracked in the boss log. Players would be able to receive Vorkath as a boss slayer provided they have been unlocked. Only players who have completed Dragon Slayer II will be able to fight Vorkath.
Superior Dragon Bones
Vorkath will guarantee two bone drops per kill. These tradeable bones give 150 Prayer xp when buried making them the best bones in the game. However, they will require a Prayer level of 70 to use. Superior dragon bones can also be crushed with a Pestle and Mortar to create Crushed dragon bones which are a secondary ingredient in Superior antifire potions. Use of the bones will not require completion of the quest.
Poll Question
If Vorkath is added to the game, should it drop Superior dragon bones? These bones would give 150 Prayer xp when buried but would require a Prayer level of 70 to use. These bones would be tradeable and would not require completion of the quest to use.
Dragon Bolts
Vorkath will drop Dragon bolts (unf). Players with 84 Fletching will be able to add feathers to these to make Dragon bolts. Dragon bolts will be new crossbow bolts that can be fired from Dragon Crossbow, Dragon hunter crossbow and Armadyl crossbow. Dragon bolts (unf) and Dragon bolts will be tradeable. Use of these bolts in any form will not require completion of the quest. Adding feathers to Dragon bolts (unf) will yield 12xp per completed bolt.
Afbeelding
Poll Question
If Vorkath is added to the game, should it drop Dragon bolts (unf)? Players with 84 Fletching would be able to turn these into Dragon bolts yielding 12xp per bolt. These bolts would be tradeable and would not require completion of the quest to use.
Poll Question
If Dragon bolts (unf) are added to the game, should it be possible to add all current bolt tips to the finished product? They would have the same effect as current bolts, with the only difference being that they would have the same Ranged Strength as Dragon Bolts. These bolts would be tradeable and would not require completion of the quest to use.
Wrath Talisman
Vorkath will drop the Wrath Talisman which is a tradeable talisman that can be used to gain access to the Wrath Altar. A Wrath tiara can be created from a Wrath talisman. This would only be added if the Wrath Altar is added to the game.
Poll Question
If Vorkath is added to the game, should it drop a Wrath talisman? These talismans would be tradeable.
Wrath Runes
Vorkath will sometimes drop a moderate amount of Wrath runes. Wrath runes would be a new tradeable rune used to cast Surge spells should they be added to the game. If the Wrath Altar does not get added to the game this will be one of the only source of Wrath runes. Wrath runes and the Surge spells can be used without completing the quest.
Poll Question
If Vorkath is added to the game, should it drop a moderate amount of Wrath runes?
Dragonbone Necklace
Vorkath will rarely drop the Dragonbone Necklace, a tradeable necklace. The necklace will require 80 Prayer to equip and when worn it will restore prayer points when bones are buried. The amount of prayer points restored will vary depending on the bone buried with higher level bones giving more prayer points – this will use the same scaling as burying bones in the Kourend Catacombs. Completion of the quest is not required to equip the necklace.

This effect would not stack with the Kourend Catacombs prayer perk.
The bonecrusher effect will work the the necklace.
Equipping the necklace will reduce players remaining prayer points by 50% - this would apply regardless of whether you are in combat or not. The reason behind this is to prevent players swapping to and from the necklace solely to gain prayer points on demand.
Afbeelding
Poll Question
If Vorkath is added to the game, should it drop the Dragonbone Necklace as described in the Dev Blog?
Skeletal Visage & Dragonfire Ward
Vorkath will drop the Skeletal visage, a tradeable ranged version of the Draconic visage. Players with 90 Smithing can combine an Anti-dragon shield with a Skeletal visage to create a Dragonfire ward, a new ranged version of the Dragonfire shield which Requires 75 Defence and 70 Ranged to equip. Completion of the quest is not required to equip the Dragonfire ward. The experience gained from smithing the Dragonfire ward would be similar to that of the Dragonfire shield. The Dragonfire ward is charged and uncharged in the same manner that the Dragonfire shield.

The Dragonfire Ward can hold up to 50 charges and is charged by absorbing dragonfire attacks in the same way that the Dragonfire Shield does. For every charge, the Melee and Ranged defensive bonuses increase by +1. The stats shown in the image below are the stats of the Ward when it is fully charged. The Ward has the same special attack as the Dragonfire Shield and is discharged in the same way.
Afbeelding
Poll Question
If Vorkath is added to the game, should it drop the Skeletal Visage? Players with 90 Smithing would be able to use the Visage to create the Dragonfire Ward, which would also be added to the game. The Dragonfire Ward would require 75 Defence and 70 Ranged to equip and it would be charged in the same way as the Dragonfire Shield. Both the Visage and the Ward would be tradeable and they would not require completion of the quest to use.
Vorkath’s Head & Ava’s Assembler
Vorkath will rarely drop his head. Players can take this head along with 75 Mithril arrows and an Ava’s accumulator to Ava in Draynor Manor to obtain an Ava’s assembler, a new best in slot ranged item for the cape slot. Ava’s assembler can randomly gather mithril ranged items. This would require 70 Ranged to equip. Both Vorkath’s head and Ava’s Assembler will be untradeable. There will be a max cape version of Ava’s Assembler. The Assembler would have an 80% chance of saving ammunition versus the 72% of the Accumulator - the other 20% would still break and be lost. Vorkath's head would be a fairly common drop (below 1/50).

If Vorkath is added to the game, should it drop Vorkath’s Head? This would be used to create the Ava’s Assembler, a new best in slot ranged item for the cape slot, which would also be added. The Assembler would require 70 Ranged to equip. Both the Head and the Assembler would be untradeable meaning they would require completion of Dragon Slayer II to use.
Poll Question
If Vorkath is added to the game, should it drop Vorki? Vorki is a new untradeable pet based off of Vorkath.

Metal Dragons & Special Drops

With the introduction of a quest based around dragons, it seems fitting we should offer a new NPC for you to slay! With the current metal dragon’s lineage ending at Mithril, we’d love to finally give you the chance to add both Adamant and Rune dragons to the game!
Afbeelding
Images and detail are currently a WIP and are subject to change

Adamant Dragons
Adamant Dragons would have a combat level of around 340. Killing Adamant Dragons will require completion of the quest. They will have a guaranteed drop of 2 Adamant Bars per kill.
Poll Question
If Dragon Slayer II is added to the game, should we introduce Adamant Dragons as described in the Dev Blog? Only players who have completed Dragon Slayer II will be able to fight these dragons.
Rune Dragons
Rune Dragons would have a combat level of around 380. Killing Rune Dragons will require completion of the quest. Rune Dragons would offer the same drops as Adamant (minus the bars), although they will NOT drop the Dragon Metal Slice. You would still be able to get the Dragon Limbs which are used to create the Dragon Crossbow. They will have a guaranteed drop of 1 Rune Bar per kill.
Poll Question
If Dragon Slayer II is added to the game, should we introduce Rune Dragons as described in the Dev Blog? Only players who have completed Dragon Slayer II will be able to fight these dragons.
Superior Dragon Bones

Guarantee of one drop per dragon, these tradeable bones give 150 Prayer xp when buried making them the best bones in the game. However, they require a Prayer level of 70 to use. Superior dragon bones can also be crushed with a Pestle and Mortar to create Crushed dragon bones which are a secondary ingredient in the potential new Superior antifire potions. Use of the bones will not require completion of the quest.
Poll Question
If Adamant and/or Rune Dragons are added to the game, should they drop Superior dragon bones? These bones would give 150 Prayer xp when buried but would require a Prayer level of 70 to use. These bones would be tradeable and would not require completion of the quest to use.
Dragon Bolts
Players with 84 Fletching will be able to add feathers to these to make Dragon bolts. Dragon bolts will be new crossbow bolts that can be fired from the Dragon Crossbow (if added to the game), Dragon Hunter Crossbow and Armadyl Crossbow. Dragon bolts (unf) and Dragon bolts will be tradeable. Use of these bolts in any form will not require completion of the quest.
Afbeelding
Poll Question
If Adamant and/or Rune Dragons are added to the game, should they drop Dragon bolts (unf)? Players with 84 Fletching would be able to turn these into Dragon bolts yielding 12xp per bolt. These bolts would be tradeable and would not require completion of the quest to use.

Dragon Crossbow
Dragon limbs are a new tradeable item that can be used to create the Dragon crossbow. Players with 78 Fletching will be able to create a Magic stock from Magic logs which can be used with Dragon limbs to create a Dragon crossbow (u). This can then be strung with a crossbow string to create a Dragon crossbow. The Dragon crossbow will sit between the Runite crossbow and the Dragon hunter crossbow. The crossbow will be tradeable and will require 64 Ranged to equip. Completion of the quest is not required to equip the crossbow. The experience gained from fletching the crossbow would be similar to that of the Rune crossbow.

We would also like to add a special attack to the crossbow, known as "Annihilate". Annihilate will use 60% of the players special attack energy. The primary target of the Annihilate special attack will take 20% extra damage, both in PvP and PvM. All other targets will take 20% less damage, both in PvP and PvM. If used in a single-way area, the attack will still work but only hit one target with 20% extra damage.

Poll Question
If Adamant and/or Rune Dragons are added to the game, should they drop Dragon limbs? Players with 78 Fletching would be able to use these to make a Dragon crossbow. The Dragon crossbow would require 64 Ranged to equip. Both the limbs and the crossbow would be tradeable and they would not require completion of the quest to use.
Poll Question
If the Dragon Crossbow is added to the game, should it have the Annihilate special attack? Annihilate will use up 60% of the players special attack energy and will damage any enemy in a 3x3 area provided the area is multi-combat.
Wrath Talisman
The Wrath Talisman is a tradeable talisman that can be used to gain access to the Wrath Altar. A Wrath tiara can be created from a Wrath talisman. This would only be added if the Wrath Altar is added to the game.
Poll Question
If Adamant and/or Rune Dragons are added to the game, should they drop a Wrath talisman? These talismans would be tradeable.
Wrath Runes
Wrath runes would be a new tradeable rune used to cast Surge spells should they be added to the game. If the Wrath Altar does not get added to the game this will be one of the only source of Wrath runes. Wrath runes and the Surge spells can be used without completing the quest.
Poll Question
If Adamant and/or Rune Dragons are added to the game, should they drop a small amount of Wrath runes?
Dragon Kiteshield
The Dragon metal slice would be tradeable drop from Adamant Dragons and can be combined with the Dragon metal shard (from the Myths Guild Armoury) by players with 75 Smithing to create a Dragon Kiteshield. The Dragon Kiteshield will be tradeable and will require 60 Defence to equip. The experience gained from smithing the kiteshield would be similar to that of the Dragon sq shield.
Afbeelding
Poll Question
If Adamant Dragons are added to the game, should they drop a Dragon Metal Slice? Players with 75 Smithing would be able to use this along with a Dragon Metal Shard to make a Dragon Kiteshield, which would also be added to the game. Both the Dragon Metal Slice and the Dragon Kiteshield would be tradeable.
Poll Question
If the Dragon Kiteshield is added to the game, should it also require a Dragon Square Shield to create? The Square shield would be consumed in the process.
Poll Question
If the Dragon Kiteshield is added to the game, should the completion of Dragon Slayer II be required to equip it? If this question fails, the Dragon Kiteshield would not require any quests to equip.
Dragon Platebody
The Dragon metal lump would be tradeable drop from Rune Dragons and can be combined with the Dragon metal shard (from the Myths Guild Armoury) by players with 90 Smithing to create a Dragon Platebody. The Dragon Platebody will be tradeable and will require 60 Defence to equip. Completion of the first Dragon Slayer will be required to equip the platebody. The experience gained from smithing the platebody would be similar to that of the Dragon sq shield.

Poll Question
If Rune Dragons are added to the game, should they drop a Dragon Metal Lump? Players with 90 Smithing would be able to use this along with a Dragon Metal Shard to make a Dragon Platebody, which would also be added to the game. Both the Dragon Metal Lump and the Dragon Platebody would be tradeable. Players would need to complete the original Dragon Slayer to be able to equip the Dragon Platebody.
Poll Question
If the Dragon Platebody is added to the game, should it also require a Dragon Chainbody to create? The Chainbody would be consumed in the process.
Poll Question
If the Dragon Platebody is added to the game, should the completion of Dragon Slayer II be required to equip it?
Slayer Task Extension
If Adamant and Rune dragons are added to the game, they will be added to the current list of metal dragon slayer tasks if you have completed the quest. Both Adamant and Rune dragons will be assigned by Nieve/Steve and Duradel. The weighting on them is fairly low, and the amount to kill will be small. We would like to offer you a way of extending these, should you wish to.
Poll Question
If Adamant Dragons are added to the game, should we add a separate slayer task extension for them?
Poll Question
If Rune Dragons are added to the game, should we add a separate slayer task extension for them?

Filling in the Blanks (Literally)

After years of development, adding new content and expanding upon new areas, it seems like we have some space left on the map to fill – something you’ve noticed too! We’ve heard your requests to fill in these blank spots found throughout the world map and as such we’d like to offer adding new content available to both members and F2P.

Images and detail are currently a WIP and are subject to change

The Corsair Cove
The Corsair Cove will be located in the South East of Feldip Hills. The settlement will have walls on all sides with the only access points being a gate in the west wall and the docks. The settlement will be inhabited by Pirates called Corsairs. F2P players will be able to access the Cove via a free ship from Port Sarim. Members will additionally be able to use Charter Ships to and from the Cove. The cove will contain a few low-level fishing spots and trees along with a bank and a dungeon. The dungeon will contain brand new NPCs for players to kill with the aim to offer an alternative location for players to train for a small profit. There would be no notable drops from these NPC’s. The gate to the west will be guarded by a corsair who will only let the player out if they have completed Dragon Slayer.
Poll Question
If the Myths Guild is added, a new area called The Corsair Cove will also be added as described in the Dev Blog. Should the Cove be accessible to F2P players? The Cove would have no requirements to access.
The Corsair Curse
The Corsair Curse will be a novice quest which is started by talking to the Corsair Captain at the crossroads north of Port Sarim. Completion of the quest will reward players with 2 quest points and access to the bank within the cove.
Poll Question
If the Corsair Cove is made F2P, should we add a new F2P quest called The Corsair Curse? This quest would award 2 quest points on completion along with access to a new bank within the Cove.
The Corsair Cove Expans
The expanded area will be cut off from the rest of Feldip Hills by a dense forest. There will be two areas where members can pass through the forest but F2P won't be able to. The southern Feldip Hills will contain a second dungeon with more of the new NPC (it will be linked to the first dungeon with a members only shortcut). As well as this, the area will contain a mining site with 5 coal, 2 mithril and 1 adamant rock, Yew trees and some fishing spots with Swordfish and Lobster. Players in this area will be able to see the Myths Guild and talk to the Guildmaster.
Poll Question
If the Corsair Cove is made F2P, should we also add the Corsair Cove Expansion as described in the Dev Blog? The expansion will be available to both P2P and F2P but it would require completion of the original Dragon Slayer to enter.
Poll Question
If the Corsair Cove Expansion is added, should it include a selection of Maple trees alongside the proposed Yew trees? Note that this will make Maple trees accessible in F2P.

Volcanic Mine Tweaks & Make All Preview

Originele tekst

RuneFest has come to a close and although we're sad to be leaving the event behind for another year, we're looking forward to start working on the many things to come over the next 12 months. This week sees the release of some tweaks to the Volcanic Mine found on Fossil Island, an upgrade to the fertile soil spell and an increased amount of bank space for players who keep their account secure with an Authenticator and/or bank pin!
AfbeeldingDragon Slayer II Poll
The Poll questions for Dragon Slayer II, alongside all of the asociated rewards and options have been added to the game so go cast your vote! If you didn't get chance to read through our previous news update, then you can read it here. We appreciate it's quite a lengthy one, but we wanted to make sure you had as much information as possible! We'll be live on twitch.tv/runescape Thursday 28th September with a design stream. Join Mod West and a host of other Mods throughout the day, beginning at 12pm UTC and ending at 5pm UTC. Tune in with any questions you have regarding the poll!
AfbeeldingVolcanic Mine Improvements
Now that the Volcanic mine has been in-game for a few weeks and more players have unlocked the Kudos requirement to enter, we've made some changes based on community feedback.
Afbeelding
  • If the volcanic mine is particularly stable, you'll find the amount of meteorites and earthquakes will now be much lower.
  • Players are now able to unlock the upgraded version of the Fertile Soil spell on the lunar spellbook for the cost of 40,000 points from the Volcanic Mine. This spell requires Volcanic ash as well as the runes to cast. Players without the ash in their inventory will cast the regular Fertile Soil spell.
  • You can now purchase a heat-proof vessel container capacity upgrade for 10,000 points from Petrified Pete.
  • We have changed how Fragments are given within the Volcanic mine. More emphasis has been placed on mining earlier stages of the rock as people were leeching until the final stage.
  • We've substantially upped the chance of obtaining a fossil while mining the boulders found within the Volcanic mine.
  • Mining a boulder to the whirlpool in the volcanic mine will now award all players with an additional 100 points (providing they are downstairs in the mine).
  • We've buffed the experience in the Volcanic mine by 10%.
  • The Volcanic mine's shop has had many of its items reduced by ~30%.
AfbeeldingCustomer Support Week
Next week is 'Customer Service Week' which means we are shining the spotlight on Account Security! We've unlocked 16 additional bank spaces for the most security aware players to enjoy, you'll get 8 spaces for having a Bank PIN, which you can set up by speaking to any Banker, and 8 more just for enabling the Authenticator! This applies to both Members and F2P.
Afbeelding
During our Q&A stream on the 4th October we'll be joined by Mod Stevew, who will quiz the Old School team and test their knowledge of account security! There will be forfeits for those who struggle to answer the questions so you can either help them in the chat or sit back and watch them suffer - the choice is yours! Don't forget that you can also get account security advice at any time by speaking with Count Check inside the Lumbridge Graveyard. He can 'check' your account security and also offers free teleports to the Stronghold of Security. There's never been a better time to upgrade your account security so you can be sure that your hard-earned items never fall into the hands of a hijacker. Enjoy the extra bank space!
AfbeeldingMake All Update
Great progress has been has been made on the Make All option in development - it's now ready for QA to get their hands on it! It's been a long and time consuming task to make sure all of the possible options are covered so we wanted to share some of the interfaces you can expect to see in-game.
Afbeelding
Activities that previously had a Make-X option in the chatbox have been revamped! We've created a new custom interface as shown above, which will appear in your chat box. In this example players have the option to cook 1, 5, 10, X and the newly added All Sharks. If you selected a custom number of sharks to cook last time you opened the interface, it will try to offer you that number again if you're trying to cook more sharks now. You can also press the space bar to start whichever action you select.
Afbeelding
Alongside improving the interface for many Make All options, we've also added shortcut keys for some interfaces that would have otherwise been a little more frustrating to work with. In the above image, we can still see the Make All option, alongside the numbers 1-9. Pressing the number 1 key for example, would start smelting as many Bronze Bars as you could.
Afbeelding
For activities that already had an existing interface, we've added the All option to the list. Others changes here include tidying up the interface a little to ensure all icons and text are in line, as well as reducing the overall size of the interface to give it a much cleaner look!
Afbeelding
And lastly, just a little insight into the depth of how many different areas in the game this change impacted! Who knew you could churn milk?! There is no Make All option here because it didn't exist in the game previously. We have however updated the inferface for all of the avid cheese lovers out there! You can expect to see Make-All and the other improvements coming to the game in a few weeks!

Deadman Autumn Prize Money

Originele tekst

Since the Deadman final on Saturday 23rd September, the team have been discussing how best to proceed with distributing the $20,000 prize money following the disqualification of the last survivor. After much thought and consideration, we have decided that $10,000 of the prize money will be given to the runner up of the tournament - True Fox. True Fox displayed great levels of skill and was one of the most prolific contestants in the tournament. Congratulations True Fox!Jagex is proud of its charitable giving history and so the team have decided the other $10,000 of the prize money will be donated equally amongst our three partner charities: CPSL Mind, The Prince's Trust and YMCA. This will be done alongside the proceeds raised from RuneScape's Gielinorian Giving II event.Mods Archie, Ash, Ayiza, Ed, Ghost, Jed, John C, Kieren, Mat K, Maz, Roq, Ry, Stone, Sween, TomH, Weath, West & Wolf

Barbarian Assault, Leather Shields, New Quests & General QoL

The poll for Dragon Slayer II has come to an end with overwhelming results! Whilst development can now officially begin on the quest, we've some space in the schedule to offer you a new Content & QoL poll!AfbeeldingWeapons, Armour and all things related
Dragonfire ShieldThe Dragonfire Shield currently only has one model, regardless of it being uncharged or fully charged. This is something we'd like to change by adding a slight variation to the model colour as shown in the below image.

Poll QuestionShould the uncharged version of the Dragonfire shield be recoloured to look duller when it does not contain any charges as shown in the image? If this passes, a similar change would also be made to the Ancient Wyvern Shield

Soundbank, HP bar, and QoL changes

Originele tekst

As development of Make-All and the Grotesque Guardians continues to progress, this week sees the release of a number of previously-polled Quality of Life updates. Plus your usual array of fixes.
Afbeelding

Quidamortem Fishing
A number of barbarian fishing spots have been added to the lake with the waterfall near Quidamortem. As with fishing near Otto's Grotto you'll be able to catch Leaping trout, salmon, and sturgeon. Did you know that in some places it's illegal to introduce foreign species to new areas? I mean, I guess that happened here, because my immersion would be ruined otherwise.

Soundbank Changes
With the release of Fossil Island a number of changes were made to the soundbank of Old School RuneScape. This was to accommodate the new tracks being released with the content. This did have the effect of changing the sounds of all pre-existing tracks, since the soundbank is shared by all music in the game.

Following player feedback since the release of Fossil Island, we have opted to revert the changes. This means that all pre-existing tracks will sound as they once did, but the Fossil Island tracks will now sound slightly different.
Afbeelding

HP Bar Changes
A change has been made to the HP headbar which displays how many Hitpoints you have remaining. Each section of the bar will now represent a more accurate depiction of your remaining Hitpoints. Previously the number of Hitpoints you had remaining was inaccurately represented, particularly when low on Hitpoints.

There are 30 sections to your HP bar. Each section has a number of Hitpoints associated with it.

Before this update, a player with 90 HP would see the sections distributed as:

90 HP: 30 sections filled
89-87 HP: 29 sections filled
86-84 HP: 28 sections filled
...
8-6 HP: 2 sections filled
5-1 HP: 1 section filled
0 HP: 0 section filled
