Dragon Slayer II reqs, QoL and a look at the coming weeks!

Dragon Slayer II reqs, QoL and a look at the coming weeks!

Originele tekst

This week focuses on Quality of Life updates, some of which you may find are quite useful in particular situations. Alongside this, some long-standing issues that needed fixing have been fixed, testing is being finalised for Make-All in preparation for release and we have exciting news regarding the coming weeks!
AfbeeldingHonesty Is The Best Policy
We're aware that the last few weeks have been lacking substantial updates and you want more content - we want to give you more too! This week unfortunately does follow that same trend, but there are good reasons as to why:
  • QA have been making fantastic progress on Make-All, so much so that we're confident in saying it will officially release NEXT WEEK!
  • Halloween is slowly approaching and as usual, we've been busy working away at making sure something is in place well in advance of the actual real life date.
  • The Gargoyle Boss development is progressing at a rapid rate, and is due for release by the end of October. We've got another design stream today at 1:00 pm BST over on twitch.tv/RuneScape so be sure to tune in and catch up on the latest progress - today we focus on designing the environment with Mod Ghost! Here's a sneak peak of the bosses if you missed it!
Afbeelding
Dragon Slayer II RequirementsYou asked, we delivered! The requirements for the anticipated Dragon Slayer II are below - keep in mind that the difficulty of a quest should not be dictated by the skill requirements it's locked behind! You'll have to complete numerous puzzles and face off against many a difficult boss in order to complete this quest!
Afbeelding
Alongside this, you may have noticed we released a QoL and Content Poll blog last week, with the intention to have a poll in-game shortly after. We initially held off adding the poll in-game to give us more time to collate your feedback and make changes where necessary. We did this and went to put everything live early this week, but it turns out the entire Poll module has broken! As we've increased the number of polls we've been doing over time, more and more information has been getting sent to the module and we're now at the point where we can't update it any further. The Web team are actively working to apply necessary fixes to get it resolved, but at the moment it seems like we're going to have to hold off on any new polls in-game until next week. It's unfortunate that it's happened now, but as with any issue there is never really a great time to find one! Now, onto the more fun stuff...
AfbeeldingGracefully Coloured
We heard your cries to become human rainbows and we've listened! Players are now able to recolour individual pieces of Graceful at the Brimhaven Agility arena providing they have recoloured a whole set already. If you haven't already recoloured a whole set, you'll need to do this first before being able to mix and match. We can't wait to see the ever so wonderful combinations you'll be running around in!
Afbeelding
AfbeeldingInstant Transmission
When travelling around RuneScape you may come across the occasional Minecart. The Dwarves that control these were living in the dark age and would force players to actually communicate with them in order to catch a ride! They've been shown the light - the conductors of Keldagrim, White Wolf Mountain, and Ice Mountain now have a right-click option to purchase tickets for the Dwarven Minecart Network. Don't expect any public transport delays in Gielinor!
Afbeelding
AfbeeldingAnimated Armour
Very likely to be seen to its full effect in Deadman mode, although a nice change overall for anyone gathering Warrior guild tokens, the delay on the player has been reduced when animating armour in the Warriors guild!
Afbeelding
AfbeeldingClear That Chat Box!
Players will now be able to clear their public chat the same way they can their private chat! Simply Right click the Public chat stone underneath the chatbox and select Clear.

AfbeeldingIn Other News
  • The descriptions of various teleport tablets have been updated to show the Wilderness levels of their destinations.
  • Valuable item drop warnings are now triggered more reliably for valueless items if a sufficiently large stack is being dropped.
  • Corrected the examine of watered mahogany saplings so they no longer refer to maple saplings.
  • Fixed the message when cooking a mushroom pie to correctly mention Sulliucep mushrooms.
  • Fixed a typo of 'artefact' when speaking to Simon at the Agility Pyramid.
  • While crushing infernal eels, the hammer is now in the user's hand rather than floating nearby.
  • Players can no longer stand with their bodies half inside the drystone wall by the Fossil Island swamp.
  • Female characters wearing the obsidian cape, or its reversed version, would experience polygon stretching if they wielded the new hand fan item. The cape was changed to address this.
  • Santa and Anti-santa gloves for female characters had render order issues that have now been corrected.
  • The Newcomer Map, handed out to new players and sold in the Lumbridge general store, had a blue line on its interface that has now been removed.
  • The squirrel gardeners on Fossil Island have a chat option asking whether they're talking squirrels. After experiencing this chat, the player is now returned to a menu for asking them other questions rather than having to re-initiate dialogue.

Dev Blog: Deadman Winter Finals

Dev Blog: Deadman Winter Finals

Originele tekst

As the current Winter Season draws to a close on the 26th October it seems only fitting to clarify the changes being made for the Finals. We enter the Finals on the back of what can be perceived to be our most successful Season yet in terms of player participation. It's clear that we're moving in the right direction,.
Afbeelding
The Winter Finals
We aren't yet able to announce the date the Finals will commence. We know only too well the benefit of having access to early information, so rest assured that we'll provide the specific date as soon as possible. We can tell you that we're aiming for early December.

As ever the Finals will retain some of the content changes which were introduced in previous Seasons:

There is no cap on XP gain.

Unskulled players protect all XP lost on death.

There is a 50x rebuild rate on XP in stats previously lost on death.

Dying with, or dropping, a stack of Chinchompas will cause it to appear on the ground, visible to all players.

All rune and arrow shops now restock at a much faster rate. Fletching & crafting supply stores will also restock at a faster rate. Lower tier equipment will restock faster than higher tier equipment, for example: an air rune will restock faster than a death rune.

Changes remain in place to prevent door spamming. We received reports that specific areas were still troubled by issues of door spamming. Please reply to the forum thread linked at the bottom of this post to report the issue.

There is a skull penalty for all players attacking a skulled player. The skull penalty will last for 5 minutes. If you previously had a skull with less than 5 minutes remaining it will revert to 5 minutes. If you previously had a skull with longer than 5 minutes remaining it will remain unchanged.

There is a 1 minute grace period for reasonable kills. This grace period will be a temporary status of immunity from the attacks of other players. A reasonable kill can be defined as killing a player within 30 combat levels of yourself. If killing a combat level higher than yourself you will always receive this grace period of immunity (e.g. a level 90 killing a level 126 will receive the grace period). If you die or attack another player within this minute then you will lose the remaining grace period. The grace period will be lost upon logging out.

The change to losing items remains in place. You will only lose 80% of an item's stack. This applies only to stacks of 5 or more. For example: if you had 4 Abyssal whips, you'd lose them all. If you had 5 Abyssal whips, you'd lose only 4 of them.

The Protect from Magic protection prayer does not halve the duration of the Bind, Snare, and Entangle spells.

POH pools are unavailable for 3 minutes after combat.

Barrows is accessible for the entire week of the tournament.

Raids, Zulrah, and Lava dragons are inaccessible for the entire week of the Finals.

In addition to the normal loot offered by killing them, Callisto, Venenatis, Vet'ion and the Chaos Elemental also have a 1 in 3 chance of dropping a single 4-dose Saradomin brew.

In addition to the normal loot offered by killing them, Scorpia, Crazy Archaeologist and the Chaos Fanatic also have a 1 in 5 chance of dropping a single 4-dose Saradomin brew.
Afbeelding
The Permadeath Stage
A very in-depth retrospective followed the last tournament and the lessons learned have shaped this Season's Finals. We're confident that we're able to resolve any logistical problems, as well as issues with in-game mechanics which have affected previous tournaments. Our intention with the Winter Finals is to enable the progression of solo players and small groups, but not at the expense of totally nerfing the effectiveness of larger, organized clans.

Supply chests

The first significant change arrives in the form of supply chests. The chests will appear each time the fog advances. We will announce the location of these chests in two different stages: the first notification of the location will remain vague (e.g. Falador), whilst the second notification will be specific (e.g. Falador Party Room). The chests themselves will offer very lucrative rewards, such as sought-after weapons with special attacks, lamps which will increase combat skills, and Overload potions. We intend for these chests to encourage fights throughout the entire duration of the Permadeath stage, and also to offer a huge power increase for those courageous enough to attempt to loot them.

Final areas

The next change comes with the addition of a second 'final area'. Previously we had one set location announced beforehand to all players. This would pack everybody into a small area which would reduce the spectacle of the event, with it being nothing other than a cluster of multi-spells and Chinchompas.

Our proposed change introduced a second area. We will evenly split players between the two final areas: Barbarian Village and the Demonic Ruins in the Wilderness. Players will be assigned a final area location randomly once the Permadeath stage begins, with the fog being specific to each player. The aim of this is to split up large groups of players and to promote a more varied viewing experience with two groups of players having to adapt to different tactics depending on their designated final area. The last surviving 64 players in each final area (128 players in total) will be transported to the final islands, which are detailed below.

Final islands

The most notable change is the expansion of the final islands concept. In the last tournament we introduced four islands which the survivors of the final hour were funneled into. The final four remaining individuals were then transported to a single central island.

We're reworking the final islands to transform them into a structured knockout-style tournament. The remaining 128 survivors will be teleported to 64 individual islands. Players will be teleported to a random island regardless of level, location, gear etc. for a set of 7 brackets of 1v1 fights.

The structure is as follows:

Bracket 1: 128 players, 64 islandsBracket 2: 64 players, 32 islandsBracket 3: 32 players, 16 islandsBracket 4: 16 players, 8 islandsBracket 5: 8 players, 4 islandsBracket 6: 4 players, 2 islandsBracket 7: 2 players, grand final

Halloween 2017 & Make-All

Halloween 2017 & Make-All

Originele tekst

It's a double update this week. Halloween is upon us, and the Grim Reaper has come to Lumbridge to seek your aid. Besides that, the long-awaited Make-All update has arrived, bringing a highly demanded usability update to all the Make-X menus throughout the game.

Afbeelding

Halloween 2017
Death is no stranger to spooky goings-on, and he normally ain't afraid of no ghost, but some recent disturbances are causing him real concern. It'd be enough to bring a wrinkle to his forehead, if he actually had any skin there.

You'll find him in Lumbridge Graveyard, waiting for an adventurer to investigate the matter.

Afbeelding
It's not going to be easy, though - this might be the most challenging holiday event we've done so far. Prepare for a truly horrific tale of murder, vengeance and undying evil, as you solve the puzzles of the desolate cabin in the woods of Camp Sapphire Lagoon, and confront your foe in the depths of the sinister lake.

Afbeelding
If you can overcome all that, you'll unlock all the prior years' Halloween treats - skin colours, player-owned house style, items and music tracks - and also earn yourself a truly spoopy mask and another ghastly skin colour. So head down to Lumbridge Graveyard now to get started.

The Halloween event will be in the game for at least 2 weeks. If you don't complete it in that time, you'll be able to get its rewards as usual next Halloween.

Make-All
Back in late June, we offered some changes to the Make-X interfaces used across the game, adding Make-All options, and converting the generic menu to use left-clicks and keyboard short-cuts.

Afbeelding
This wasn't a small job, as you can imagine, trawling through the spaghetti of legacy code to rewrite 207 skilling features around the new menu. Besides those, there were numerous custom menus needing individual updates too, such as anvil smithing, glassblowing and spinning wheels.

Afbeelding
Once you've selected the quantity you want to make, click on your chosen item to start the process. Keyboard short-cuts can be also used to trigger the item buttons.

If you're bringing up the same menu repeatedly, the game will try to remember what quantity you chose last time so that it can pre-select the quantity for you. Otherwise it'll default to 'All'.

Where there's only one option, and the game realises you've only got enough ingredients to make 1 of it, it'll aim to start the process immediately without bringing up the menu at all.

Afbeelding
Not every skilling feature in RuneScape had a Make-X option before; they therefore haven't received a Make-All option now. For example, when you're adding arrowheads to headless arrows, the menu used to offer only Make-1, Make-5 and Make-10; it's now been updated to the new style so you can operate it via left-clicks and keyboard short-cuts, but it still offers the same quantity options.

Afbeelding
Similarly, some features such as fletching darts or enchanting bolts never had any options for making multiple batches at once; they've not been changed in this update either.

Rewriting literally hundreds of skilling features is not straightforward, and it brings the risk that we got something wrong along the way. If so, just right-click the Report button to get your bug reports straight to the testers, and we'll go take a look.

In other news
40% more Woodcutting XP is now given from chopping sulliuscep mushrooms.Although our poll systems are once again able to run polls, courtesy of the web team, the game is no longer attempting to load the entire poll history; we have adjusted the in-game poll history display accordingly. Old poll totals can still be viewed on the website.A skeleton in the Temple of Ikov was spawning on top of a pointy stalagmite. Ouch? The 'Empty' option on ultracompost buckets now works. The use of commas is now more consistent when checking the charge of a blowpipe. Some typos in Varrock Museum cases have been corrected. The Corporeal Beast's cavern entrance now allows exit if you have a pet out, but still does not permit entry with a pet.

Dev Blog: Wilderness Rejuvenation II

Bericht door Bot »

Dev Blog: Wilderness Rejuvenation II

Originele tekst

Dev Blog: Wilderness Rejuvenation IIFor many, the Wilderness has been the main focus of time spent in-game. First introduced to RuneScape in 2001, it is famous for being the only place where players can engage in Player-versus-Player (PvP) Combat to gain all items that the defeated dropped. Since the release of Old School RuneScape, there have been multiple changes made to the Wilderness. The most notable changes were part of the original Wilderness Rejuvenation back in March 2014 which introduced new bosses, monsters, resources and activities.Wilderness Rejuvenation II will bring forward changes to the Chaos Temple Altar in level 38 Wilderness making it one of the most rewarding places to train Prayer, bringing back the infamous Revenant Caves and a new miniquest, Mage Arena II - an expansion to one of the most iconic miniquests in the game.As with all other Poll focused Dev Blogs, we want to take some time to collate your feedback. The poll is expected to go live in-game early next week!
AfbeeldingThe Chaos Altar
The Chaos Temple found within level 38 of the Wilderness, west of the Lava Maze, has received a lucrative buff for any adventurer brave enough to travel there. Currently the Altar provides the standard Prayer restoration properties as other altars do, but the mages of Zamorak have been busy working on making improvements any Prayer training fanatic would dream of. Players will be able to sacrifice bones on the Chaos Altar inside the temple for a +25% boost in XP gained compared to a Gilded altar with 2 lit burners. If you've completed the Wilderness Diaries, you can earn an additional +10% XP, giving a total +35% boost when compared to a Gilded Altar with 2 lit burners.
Afbeelding
In addition to this, there will be a new NPC stood near the altar which will un-note any bones you hand them for a fee. The cost for this would be 50gp per bone (1300gp for 26 bones) or for those that have completed the Wilderness Diaries, you can un-note your bones at no cost! This will be the only benefit the NPC offers.
AfbeeldingIn the above image, we have 16 available spaces in our inventory and have not completed the Wilderness Diaries. This makes the cost to be the expected 50gp for each bone un-noted (16 * 50gp = 800gp).
Players who do not wish to manually use bones on the altar one by one are provided an automated queue after using the first bone, similar to altars currently found in Player owned Houses (PoHs). The default speed for this would be the same as PoHs, but for anyone with the Wilderness Elite diaries complete, it would be slightly faster. Note: Even with the Wilderness Diaries completed, this will still be slower than a skilled player manually using the bones on the altar one by one.Currently if a player averages 40 trips per hour using a Gilder altar in their PoH and automatically offers their bones (this means not offering each bone individually, which will drastically increase the experience gained per hour depending on how skilled the player is), they can expect to receive around 270k experience per hour when using Dragon Bones. If the same conditions were applied to the proposed Chaos Altar, you would expect to receive around 337k experience per hour without the Wilderness Diaries complete and 364k per hour with them completed. We would expect most players to be able to complete more than 40 trips per hour at the Chaos Altar. However, it will come with great cost. In order to achieve higher experience rates, you'll be risking your stack of noted bones to anyone that is willing to put up a fight! In addition to this, you'll likely require multiple resources at hand to fend off any attackers which will take up that valuable inventory space, lowering the overall amount of bones you can offer per hour!
Poll QuestionShould we add the ability for players to offer bones to the Chaos Altar found in level 38 Wilderness as described in the Dev Blog for additional XP when compared to Gilded Altars with 2 lit burners? There will be an NPC who will un-note bones for a fee.

Grotesque Guardians

Originele tekst

Not all of your foes will be obvious, some hide in the shadows, some come as friends but the most dangerous hide in plain sight such as gargoyles. At one moment they are nothing but decoration, next they stand over your corpse. - Unknown Adventurer
Afbeelding
Grotesque Guardians
Atop the Slayer Tower in Morytania a new threat has been reanimated. Two grotesques have awoken after they have heard too many of their brethren die in the tower below.

To get access to the grotesque guardians you will need 75 slayer and obtain a key to the roof by killing gargoyles when on a gargoyle task. Once you have unlocked the roof and your slayer master has given you a task to kill gargoyles you can opt to take on the fearsome grotesques instead. However, if your slayer master feels like giving you a challenge he may assign the grotesque guardians as a task as long as you have the boss tasks unlocked.
Afbeelding
The grotesque guardians have a number of unique drops:

Granite Hammer
Requiring level 50 Attack and Strength to equip, the granite hammer is an excellent primary weapon for low level players.

It also comes with an offensive special attack, allowing you to increase the damage of your next hit by 5, and increase its accuracy by 50%. When equipped it will auto-smash Gargoyles (akin to the Gargoyle Smasher perk), though it will act as an ordinary rock hammer when in the inventory.
Afbeelding
Black Tourmaline Core
Black tourmaline cores are rare drops from the Grotesque Guardians. They can be attached to Bandos boots to create Guardian boots.

Guardian Boots
Requiring 75 Defence to equip, guardian boots provide a strong defensive boost in combat, and offer a noteworthy counterpart to the offensive stats of primordial boots.
Afbeelding
Granite Dust and Granite Cannon Balls
Granite dust drops from the grotesque guardians and can be applied to cannonballs in order to increase their max hit from 30 to 35. Granite dust is stackable, and so are granite-coated cannonballs. However, granite dust and cannonballs are NOT tradeable. Creating granite-coated cannonballs is done by using granite dust on cannonballs. Combining the two has no requirements and can be done with any quantity. Be aware it is not possible to reverse this process.

Granite Ring
The granite ring offers low defensive bonuses across the board, with the exception of a modest ranged defence which comes at the expense of magic defence. It requires level 50 Defence and level 50 Strength to equip. The ring can be imbued in the Nightmare Zone for 500,000 points and as a result will see its stats doubled.
Afbeelding
Granite Gloves
Granite gloves offer appealing stats for a mid-level, tradeable pair of gloves. To equip these you will need level 50 Defence and level 50 Strength.

If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs... then you can get the most XP - Mac
Afbeelding
King of the Skill
One of the things we have not done enough of over the last couple of years is celebrate the expertise of our skilling community. King of the Skill celebrates exactly that. You will be able to take part in a competition where the most efficent and knowledgable skillers will win through. This is not about how much time you can spend playing Old School, but how good you are at playing it.

It is time to get back to the core of what Old School is all about and show how good you are at Skilling.
Afbeelding
On November 1st, you will see some new worlds open which will allow you to compete in a brand new competition - King of the Skill. The King of the Skill servers will act like normal severs except for the following changes:
  • There is no grand exchange.
  • All accounts are Ironmen (be aware that anyone using multiple ironmen to increase XP rates or benefit another account will be disqualified).
  • There is 10x XP for all XP rates including XP lamps and quest rewards.
  • You will only be able to log in to these servers for a maximum of 24 hours game play in the month of November (this won't impact the normal game servers).
  • You will see a counter on screen of how much of the 24 hours you have remaining.
Throughout November each member account will be able to log into the King of the Skill servers for a maximum of 24 hours play time as an Ironman. At the end of the November the top players in each skill will win a special prize with the runners up winning Premier Club packages. As we work to finalise the prizes for the winners here is a breakdown of how they will be awarded.

Grotesque Guardians: Feedback Tweaks

Originele tekst

Grotesque Guardians: Feedback Tweaks!Since the launch of the Grotesque Guardians on Thursday, we've been keeping a keen eye on all of the feedback coming in. Today, we wish to address much of this with a bunch of snazzy hotfixes and a further list of changes we'll be making with Wednesday's update. (King of the Skill begins on 1st November, so the week's update will be on Wednesday rather than Thursday.)
Afbeelding
Hotfixes
  • Protect from Melee should now work correctly on Dusk's melee attacks.
  • Any items you drop on the rooftop will now last for 30 minutes. The same duration is applied to the drops received for defeating the boss too.
  • The additional Slayer XP gained within the Slayer Tower as a reward from the Morytania achievement diary should now apply to the Gargoyle Boss.
  • Dusk, hopefully, will no longer spawn the lightning prison special attack underneath himself in Phase 4.
  • Dawn's stun attack no longer stuns the player for quite as long. It has been roughly halved.
  • Any 3 dose prayer potion drops will now be 4 dose potions.
Not everything can be hotfixed...The following will be launched alongside Wednesday's game update. We'd have loved to have hotfixed them with the other changes, but unfortuntaly, it isn't always possible. We figured it is worth keeping you in the loop of what we plan to do regardless! :)
  • A 'Quick-start' functionality will be added as a right-click option to the bell. The option will be unlocked once you've beaten the boss 5 times. We know you want to get straight into the fight, and we'll allow precisely that once you're fairly experienced with the boss.
  • The player will no longer be interrupted by the Energy Spheres changing size after this change. Apologies for it being a little clunky!
  • During phase 2, Dawn throws bits of debris down towards the arena. It was a little challenging to see exactly where they were going to land, and so we are adding shadows to indicate where they'll land.
  • The exact timing of said debris hitting the player is a little out of sync, so we'll be tightening that up.
  • Lastly, we plan to increase the clickzone of the Energy spheres used by Dawn in phase 3 too.

King of the Skill, Grotesque Guardians Changes and QoL

Originele tekst

This week we kick off King of the Skill, a brand new skilling competition running throughout the month of November! There are also a few small changes to the new Gargoyle boss, amongst some more QoL and bug fixes.
AfbeeldingKing of the Skill
King of the Skill has officially launched! A brand new game mode that focuses on the dedication and thought required behind skilling. If you're serious about skilling and want to show how good you really are, King of the Skill is the perfect opportunity to do just that. Do you feel like you're the best Miner throughout all of Keldagrim, or perhaps you have a particular hand for cutting trees and want to be known as the best Woodcutter the lands have ever seen?Prove your worth in King of the Skill and you could be bagging yourself some fancy prizes alongside being cemented in history as the best skiller Old School has to offer. You will find 6 brand new worlds live which will allow any active members account to log into. Once you've logged in you'll find yourself starting back at the very familiar Tutorial Island and your journey begins! Our intention is to keep King of the Skill as close to the core game experience as possible, meaning your decision making throughout this competition will be key. That being said, whilst the King of the Skill worlds will act like normal servers for the most part, there are some notable changes:
  • All accounts are Ironmen by the way (be aware that anyone using multiple ironmen to increase XP rates or benefit another account will be disqualified).
  • There is no Grand Exchange.
  • There is 10x XP for all XP rates including XP lamps and quest rewards.
  • You will only be able to log in to these worlds for a maximum of 24 hours game play during the month of November.
  • You will see a counter on screen displaying how much of the 24 hours you have remaining.

At the end of November we'll be awarding the top players in the competition with a variety of prizes. • The Special attack animation for the Granite hammer has been adjusted to be more in line with the item's aesthetics.

  • Gunslik's shop prices have been adjusted in line with other general stores.
  • The Earth's Fury crossbow bolt special effect was being blocked if the attacker had Protect from Magic active, rather than checking the target's prayer.
  • The Sea Curse crossbow bolt special effect was checking for the target wielding a basic water staff, but did not recognise other equivalent water staves.
  • Armour cases in player-owned houses now have the Void kit in the same part of the menu rather than them being spread out.

Dev Blog: Fossil Island Improvements

Dev Blog: Fossil Island Improvements

Originele tekst

We've been looking at how you've been using Fossil Island, and have some improvements we'd like to offer for you.
AfbeeldingFossil Island Improvements
Fossil Island has been out for several weeks now, and we've been able to gather a wealth of data about how you're all interacting with it. By looking how many people use the features, what stats they've got, what gains they get, etc. we've been able to pinpoint some areas to improve and change - providing you're fine with us doing so.
AfbeeldingFossil gathering
First things first - let's talk fossil gathering! Out of all players who have completed Bone Voyage, only 20% have built 1 fossil case. Were you aware of the free set of fossils available at the camp? Pete, who's panning nearby, will give you a set of fossils for free if you build the entire camp. But most people don't seem to know about this, and they're only building the camp to hit a certain Kudos threshold. That's not especially encouraging for them.
Afbeelding
In fact, we've found that 18% of players who did build the entire camp still didn't collect their free fossils from Pete - they're missing out on a free display case.So we'd like to make it clearer to players what they can do on the island, and offer some rewards for doing the tasks. We'd thought of doing it a bit like a mini task-list, written on a notice-board in the camp area, with fossils as the reward for ticking off the achievements. This will help you explore what the island has to offer after its plethora of changes since release, but also assist in finishing off some fossil collections!
Poll QuestionShould there be a mini-task list on Fossil Island? Completing these tasks would reward you with some additional fossils to start your display cases.

Revenant Cave Rewards

Originele tekst

Wilderness Rejuvenation II RewardsNow that we have a good idea of how the Wilderness Rejuvenation II poll is fairing, we'd like to address the rewards from Revenant caves and gather your feedback based on the information we've provided. If you haven't already, you can catch up by reading the previous Dev Blog.Afbeelding
Reviewing the results of the poll, the main content is passing favourably but it's clear we need to revisit the rewards on offer. After reviewing your feedback over the last few days, we are aware some changes need to be made and further clarification given for the rewards we initially offered. We want to promote a risk vs reward scenario and bring with it the adrenaline rush you get when seeing that rare drop appear on the ground. Without any unique drops, the drop table for Revenants will be filled with supplies and alchables - great for many other NPC's but not the most exciting of things to get from the Wilderness! We want to be open and honest with you on this one, but ultimately, it's down to what passes the polls.
AfbeeldingThe Rewards: Reworked
Amulet of PerilAfbeelding
A lot of people were concerned over the effectiveness of the Amulet of Peril, especially when it came to accounts built specifically for rushing. We also saw a lot of very valid comments regarding the full details of the amulet not being released, which understandably hindered their decision to vote. If you didn't get chance to read up on the amulet's effects, you can catch up by reading the Amulet of Peril section of the previous Dev Blog. The amulet when uncharged would have +5 to all Attack bonus stats and +5 to Melee Strength only. When fully charged, it would have +25 to all Attack bonus stats and +15 to Melee Strength only.
Afbeelding
The amulet would charge based on the % of hitpoints the wearer has left, working in increments of 10. A player with 99 HP would have to be at 9 hitpoints or less to gain the maximum stat bonus from the amulet. For the amulet to gain any additional stats, you must be in combat with your primary target for a minimum of 5 game cycles, which is equivalent to 3 seconds. If you attack a new target, this timer will reset.Currently in most PvP situations, most players tend to sit at maximum HP throughout the entire fight. This means that other than a well-timed, or rather lucky special attack, there can be little opportunity to get a good kill. The purpose of the amulet is to mix up the current meta of sitting at full HP by giving players an incentive to risk being at lower HP.
Loot Key ScrollAfbeelding
We don't want to make any changes to the proposed Loot Key Scroll that was suggested as a drop, but would like to address some of the main points raised. If you didn't get chance to read up on how Loot Keys work, you can catch up by reading the Loot Key Scroll section in the previous Dev Blog. Many players have asked why isn't this in the Bounty Hunter store. Whilst we can see why this would be wanted and it does give more options for PKers to spend their points on, we think them coming as a drop is a more favourable option. You can currently purchase any item of choice from the Bounty Hunter store via Emblems (which can be obtained from the G.E). The Loot Key Scroll would be tradeable, meaning anyone that doesn't want to gather or buy Emblems could buy the scroll from the G.E (just as you would Emblems). We want to help diversify the Revenant drop table by adding it as a tradeable drop, whilst also giving everyone a chance to obtain the unlock. We've also seen players request the ability for Loot Keys to have the option for food and supplies to be split from the key, so they can restock after each kill. If we did this then the Loot Keys would be far too strong - players are already gaining a huge benefit of not having to carry a full inventory of loot. Any player that intends to PK and gather supplies from the defeated whilst doing so should simply toggle off Loot Keys.Loot Keys are a permanent unlock once the scroll has been used, with players being able to toggle them on or off as many times as they like from the Witch in Edgeville at no extra cost.
PvP ArmoursAfbeelding
The PvP Armours were iconic to the original release of the Revenant caves and brought a large amount of variety to the Wilderness - we're looking to repoll all of the armours. Although many players that used these before knew how effective they were, some have raised concerns over their strength.First off, let's make it clear that we intentionally kept the stats the same as they were when first introduced, as we know what impact they had. We also didn't want to shy away from the fact we offered these as they were before, which is why we didn't change the armour names from their originals. We want to offer the PvP armours as a more exclusive PvP item but don't want to change any of the stats. Instead we'd like to propose them as having no offensive bonuses when not attacking a player. This means that in any Player vs NPC (PvM) activity, you would only gain the defensive bonuses of the gear. The items will still degrade as usual. Many players were concerned about people switching to the PvP armours for a single tick simply to spec or tank, in an attempt to avoid the degradation timer. We have coded the armours in a way that stops players from being able to extend the duration of their armours whatsoever. The absolute maximum amount of time the armour will last is 60 minutes. Each piece of armour lasts for 60 degradation cycles, these occur every 100 game cycles (60 seconds) when in combat. A degrade cycle is also added any time the armours are switched to during combat. Due to this degradation mechanic, the armour is going to last considerably less than 1 hour if the wearer is repeatedly switching between it and something else. You can find the stats of the PvP armours in the previous Dev Blog under the PvP Armours section.
Revenant Gloves/Vambraces
We're not looking to repoll the proposed ranged gloves/vambraces. Although they are at a higher pass percentage than the PvP armours, it was clear with the feedback received that many people feel an item like this should come from another piece of content. We've taken the feedback on board regarding what changes could be made, but as many of them didn't fit the theme of the Wilderness or being a drop from the Revenant caves, we've decided to not repoll them at this moment in time.
Afbeelding
We'd love to get more feedback on the changes proposed above, so please discuss this update on our forums.

Deadman Winter Finals 2017

Originele tekst

The time, date, and location of the Winter Finals are ready to be announced. This post will clarify everything you need to know should you wish to take part, follow the action on Twitch, or attend the final in person. More information regarding the Spring '18 Season which will begin with the end of the Finals.

Winter Finals
The Winter Finals will begin at approximately 12pm GMT (7am EST) on Monday 4th December! The Finals will run until Saturday 9th, culminating in the Permadeath Stage beginning at 7pm GMT. We'll be live from 7pm GMT, Saturday 9th December, on twitch.tv/runescape, make sure you tune in to see who will take home the $20,000 prize!
Afbeelding
Now that the logistical information has been shared, it's fitting to remind you all of the big changes being made for the Winter Finals.

Supply chests: The chests will appear each time the fog advances. We intend for these chests to encourage fights throughout the entire duration of the Permadeath stage, and also to offer a huge power increase for those courageous enough to attempt to loot them.Final areas: The next change comes with the addition of a second 'final area'. We will evenly split players between the two final areas: Barbarian Village and the Demonic Ruins in the Wilderness. Players will be assigned a final area location randomly once the Permadeath stage begins, with the fog being specific to each player. The last surviving 64 players in each final area (128 players in total) will be transported to the final islands, which are detailed below. The aim of this is to split up large groups of players and to promote a more varied viewing experience with two groups of players having to adapt to different tactics depending on their designated final area.Permadeath Beta: We will be holding a public beta of the Deadman Mode Permadeath on 23rd November. This will make sure that all of our systems are fully functional ready for the actual final in early December. We will also be inviting our casters in for a live rehearsal to ensure that all parties are fully aware of the format and content changes prior to the final broadcast. We'll be sharing more information regarding the beta as the date draws nearer.Moderation: We will be supported in real time by our anti-cheating specialists to help moderate the events of the Finals, specifically those found to be boxing, as well as running real time account checks for the final participants.Final 1v1 Stage: The remaining 128 survivors will be teleported to an area containing 64 individual arenas. Players will be teleported to a random arena regardless of level, location, gear etc. for a set of 7 brackets of 1v1 fights.
