RuneFest 2018: OSRS Reveals[/b]

Last year during the RuneFest 2017 Old School RuneScape reveals we released a blog further detailing the reveal of Dragon Slayer II. It was extremely well received, so we\'ve decided to do it again! In this blog you can find detail on all three of the content reveals; Kebos Lowlands, Warding and Song of the Elves.

The focus of the blog will be on the Kebos Lowlands, with more information regarding Warding and Song of the Elves to follow in the coming weeks.

The Kebos Lowlands

Since Xeric\'s Age of Strife, armies of his Lizardmen have attempted to reclaim Great Kourend in honour of their former ruler. These Lizardmen make their home in the Kebos Lowlands to the west of Kourend. The Lizardmen will defend their home ruthlessly and as such the Kebos Lowlands can be very dangerous to humans. However, those who are willing to enter will find a land of many opportunities.

Farming Guild[/b]
The land deep within the Kebos Lowlands is home to soil more fertile than anywhere else on Gielinor. Land this fertile is highly appealing to members of Hosidius house, even with the threat of the Lizardmen. Following an agreement between Lord Hosidius and Lord Shayzien, a detachment of Shayzien soldiers has been assigned to protect the area. This has allowed Hosidius house to build and maintain a guild where farmers can experiment and master their craft.

The Farming Guild is a new guild found in the Kebos Lowlands. The guild is separated into three large greenhouses, where each one acts as a different tier for the guild. The first tier requires 45 Farming to enter, the second requires 65 and the third requires 85. Entering the guild requires 60% Hosidius Favour. It is possible to use stat boosts to enter the guild areas.

Farming Contracts[/b]
Within the Farming guild you will also find the \'Chief Contractor\'. The Chief Contractor can assign players with contracts that require the player to grow certain crops within the Farming guild in exchange for seed packs.

There are three tiers of contract available; Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3. Each contract offering is restricted based on what you can grow with access to the Tier 1, Tier 2 or Tier 3 Farming guild respectively.

New Patches[/b]
It wouldn\'t be an expansion to Farming if we didn\'t include some brand-new patches for you to grow various crops in and the Farming guild has a lot to offer!

Farming Demiboss: The Hespori Patch - Requires 65 Farming
The Hespori patch is a new patch unique to the second tier of the Farming guild. The only thing that can be grown here is a Hespori plant. The seeds for this plant can be randomly found while harvesting other plants (this can be toggled by talking to an NPC near the patch) or by completing Farming Contracts. There is an NPC here who will look after the plant while it grows (for a price).

Once the patch has fully grown, the Hespori can be fought as a solo demi-boss. Killing the Hespori boss grants Farming experience. It has a loot table of seeds, including the unique White lily seed (see Existing Patch Improvements below). Alongside being the only way for players to gather untradeable Anima seeds, the Hespori also has a chance of dropping the Bottomless compost bucket which can hold up to 1 million compost of any kind. The Hespori is instanced with an item reclaim service that works identically to other grave systems like Grotesque Guardians/Zulrah/Vorkath, and only one can be utilised at any time. This means that any other graves will be wiped on death.

Bottomless Compost Bucket
  • Can be filled with regular, super, or Ultracompost.
  • Can only have 1 type of compost inside it at once.
  • Each compost used gives the bucket two charges of that kind of compost. Emptying the bucket will cause all compost stored within to be lost.
  • When used on a patch, the bucket uses 1 charge of the current filled compost.
  • The bucket can hold a maximum of 10,000 charges.
  • The bucket is tradeable when empty.
Anima Patch - Requires 76 Farming
The Anima patch is a new patch unique to the second tier of the Farming guild. Planting something here has worldwide effects on all of your other patches. There are four types of seeds that can be planted here, which can only be obtained through fighting the Hespori and are untradeable.
  • Attas Seeds: When planted these grow into an Attas Plant. This plant provides increased yield to all other patches in the game.
  • Iasor Seeds: When planted these grow into an Iasor Plant. This plant decreases the disease chance for all other patches in the game.
  • Kronos Seeds: When planted these grow into a Kronos Plant. This plant increases the speed at which other patches grow by providing a chance to skip a growth stage.
These plants are active as soon as they are planted, and rather than grow over time they begin to die through their various growth stages. The plants will last approximately 3.5 days until they die and will require planting again to reap their benefits.

Celastrus Patch - Requires 85 Farming
The Celastrus patch is a new patch unique to the third tier of the Farming guild. Once a Celastrus patch has fully grown (which is 16 hours, the same length required to grow a fruit tree), it can be harvested for a tradeable resource, Celastrus wood, which can be turned into Battlestaves with level 40 Fletching.

The amount of Celastrus wood harvested from a fully grown Celastrus patch is random, much like the way harvesting herbs works, with a minimum number of lives to ensure a guaranteed amount each harvest.

Redwood Patch - Requires 90 Farming
The Redwood patch is a new patch unique to the third tier of the Farming guild. Once fully grown (which is 85.3 hours, the same length required to grow a Mahogany tree) the Redwood patch turns into a Redwood tree and can be cut down for logs and Woodcutting experience. The Redwood patch is relatively close to the bank found within the third tier of the Farming guild.

Large Compost Bin - Requires 45 Farming to access the first tier of the Farming guild.
The Large Compost Bin works the same as any other Compost Bin but has the added benefit of being able to store double the usual amount of compost.

Existing Patch Improvements[/b]
Whilst the Farming guild introduces various new patches with new crops, there are certain patches in-game that we\'d also like to utilise by adding new crops for you to grow.

Dragonfruit Trees - Requires 81 Farming
Dragonfruit trees can be grown in Fruit tree patches around Gielinor. The seeds are tradeable and are rarely obtained through nests, boss drops or by completing Farming Contracts. Dragonfruit trees have the same growth time as other fruit trees and give the following Farming experience; 140 XP for planting, 17,335 XP for checking its health and 70 XP for harvesting.

Harvesting a Dragonfruit tree gives you Dragonfruit, a new food item that can either be eaten to heal 10 hitpoints or they can be baked into Dragonfruit pies at 73 cooking. Dragonfruit pies heal 10 hitpoints per serving and provide a temporary Fletching boost of +4.

In addition to being a useful stat-boosting food, 10 Dragonfruit can be squeezed into a vial to make bottled Dragon Breath. This can be used to fully charge the Dragonfire shield and similar shields instantly.

White Lily - Requires 58 Farming
White lily can be grown in flower patches around Gielinor. The seeds are only dropped by the Hespori, but they are tradable. White lily has the same growth time as other flowers and gives the following Farming experience; 42 XP for planting and 250 XP for harvesting.

When fully grown, a flower patch with White lily in it will protect all types of crops in adjacent allotment patches.

Potato Catci - Requires 64 Farming
Potato cacti can be grown in cactus patches around Gielinor. The seeds are tradeable and are rarely obtained through nests, boss drops or by completing Farming Contracts. Potato cacti take 70 minutes to fully grow and give the following Farming experience; 68 XP for planting and 68 XP for harvesting. With the introduction of Potato cacti seeds, Potato cacti would be removed from the Nightmare Zone reward shop.

Snape Grass - Required 71 Farming
Snape grass can be grown in allotment patches around Gielinor. The seeds are tradeable and are rarely obtained through nests, boss drops or by completing Farming Contracts. Snape grass takes 70 minutes to fully grow and gives the following Farming experience; 82 XP for planting and 82 XP for harvesting. With the introduction of Snape grass seeds, Snape grass would be removed from the Nightmare Zone reward shop.
Brimstone[/b]
On the northern edge of the Kebos Lowlands lies the Sulphur Volcano of Mount Karuulm. Here, the Tasakaal, masters of life and death, make their home. Within the shadow of this volcano lies Brimstone, home to the Kahlith. These beings were once human, but they have abandoned their previous lives in the name of the Tasakaal. Together, the Tasakaal and the Kahlith work together to maintain the balance between life and death. Assist them, and you might just be rewarded.

Click here to read more about Brimstone and what it has to offer![/b]
Within Brimstone you\'ll find Konar, the newest Slayer Master. There is also a bank with a deposit box and poll booth, a furnace, and a weapon shop that sells some low-level weapons.

New Slayer Master[/b]
Konar, a member of the Kahlith race, is a new Slayer Master located in Brimstone that is accessible to players with 75 Combat. Konar is a little different when compared to your usual Slayer Master in that the tasks he assigns require you to kill monsters in a specific area.

Going out of your way to complete tasks from Konar has its benefits. Each task completed from Konar rewards the player with 18 Slayer reward points and all kills on task from this master have a chance of hitting a new global loot table. The chance of hitting this loot table is scaled by the combat level of the NPC you\'re fighting, and the loot is granted in addition to any normal drop you would receive. The loot table is split into two potential rewards:

- Generic loot meant as a slight increase to your profits, including food to sustain you on your task.
- A rare chance of getting a new unique drop of the tradeable 1-handed Dragon hasta.

The Dragon hasta is a new tradeable 1-handed weapon, dropped exclusively through completing tasks assigned by Konar.
Konar (alongside all other Slayer Masters) also sells Boots of stone for 200gp. These require 44 Slayer to equip and are needed to go inside the Brimstone Slayer Dungeon detailed below.

Afbeelding
New Slayer Creatures[/b]
With a new Slayer Master comes new Slayer creatures, and a new area to kill them! Near Brimstone lies the Sulphur Volcano of Mount Karuulm, home to a brand-new Slayer dungeon.

The Mount Karuulm Slayer dungeon is single-way combat throughout and includes a task only area. Cannons are allowed in the entire dungeon, aside from a separate chamber where the Alchemical Hydra can be found (see Alchemical Hydra below for more information). In order to stay inside the Karuulm Slayer Dungeon safely you will need to wear Boots of stone, else you\'ll take consistent damage until you do.

Sulphur Lizards - Requires 44 Slayer
Sulphur Lizards, located within the Brimstone Slayer Dungeon, are assigned by Mazchna, Vannaka and Chaeldar. They have no noteworthy mechanics or drops, and attack with melee only. They are intended to add some additional variety to the low-level Slayer bracket. Slayer Masters that assign Desert Lizards would instead assign Lizards, allowing players to kill either Desert or Sulphur Lizards to complete their task.

Wyrm - Requires 62 Slayer
Wyrms, located within the Brimstone Slayer Dungeon, are assigned by Duradel, Nieve, Chaeldar and Konar. Wyrms have a very rare chance to drop the Dragon sword and Dragon harpoon, previously found within the Chambers of Xeric. Both the Dragon sword and Dragon harpoon would be removed from the Chambers of Xeric loot table.

Drake - Requires 84 Slayer
Drakes, located within the Brimstone Slayer Dungeon, are assigned by Duradel, Nieve and Konar. They do not fly and use both melee and ranged attacks. Drakes have a chance to drop their claws and teeth, both of which are attachments for boots.

A Drake claw can be combined with Boots of stone to create the tradeable Boots of brimstone. This process cannot be undone. Boots of brimstone require 70 Defence, 70 Magic, 70 Ranged and 44 Slayer to equip.
Afbeelding

A Drake tooth can be combined with Holy sandals to create the tradeable Devout boots. This process cannot be undone. Devout boots require 60 Prayer to equip and are considered an item of Saradomin inside the God Wars Dungeon.
Afbeelding

Hydra - Requires 95 Slayer
Hydras, located within the Brimstone Slayer Dungeon, are assigned exclusively by Konar. They use both ranged and magic attacks. Hydras have a chance to drop three untradeable ring pieces and a Hydra tail which is an attachment for the Dragonbone necklace.

Eye of the hydra, Fang of the hydra and Heart of the hydra.
When combined, these pieces form the tradeable Brimstone ring. The ring has no requirements to equip and has a 1/4 chance with each spell cast to ignore 10% of your opponent\'s total Magic Defence.
Afbeelding

Hydra tail
When a Hydra tail is combined with a Dragonbone necklace and a Bonecrusher, it forms the untradeable Bonecrusher necklace. The necklace requires 80 Prayer to equip and gives the effect of both the Bonecrusher and the Dragonbone necklace (the necklace must be equipped for 9 seconds to gain the effect of the Dragonbone necklace). The necklace is charged with Ecto-tokens as per the Bonecrusher and maintains the same Prayer restoration rate as the Dragonbone necklace. The effect of the Bonecrusher also applies whilst the Bonecrusher necklace is in your inventory. The process of combining these items is reversible.
Afbeelding

Alchemical Hydra - Requires 95 Slayer
The Alchemical Hydra, located within the Brimstone Slayer Dungeon, is a new solo Slayer boss assigned exclusively by Konar. It can only be fought as part of a Hydra Slayer task or a Boss task (of which only Konar will be able to assign). The Alchemical Hydra will not be an easy opponent, and as such you will be well rewarded if you manage to defeat it. It has a chance to drop the Ferocious gloves, a Hydra claw which is an attachment for the Zamorak hasta, all Hydra unique drops and of course... a pet Alchemical Hydra.

Ferocious gloves
Ferocious gloves are a new tradeable pair of gloves with a focus on offensive melee. They require 70 Defence to equip.
Afbeelding

Hydra claw
When a Hydra claw is combined with a Zamorakian hasta, it forms the tradeable Dragon hunter Lance. This process cannot be undone. The lance requires 70 Attack to equip and has the added effect of 20% increased Accuracy and Damage against Dragon creatures, though it loses its defensive capabilities during its creation.
Afbeelding

Additional Drops
Alongside the individual drops mentioned above, you\'ll have a chance to receive Dragon knives and Dragon thrownaxes from Wyrms, Drakes, Hydras and the Alchemical Hydra. Dragon thrownaxe would be removed from the Chambers of Xeric loot table.

Dragon Knife
Dragon knives are tradeable, require 60 Ranged to equip and can be poisoned. They have a special attack, Duality, which costs 25% Special Attack energy and causes two knives to be thrown at once, each with their own accuracy and damage rolls.
Afbeelding

New Unique Bones
With the introduction of new creatures we bring new types of bones. Wyrm bones offer 30 Prayer XP, Drake bones offer 60 Prayer XP and Hydra bones offer 90 Prayer XP (both Hydras and the Alchemical Hydra drop these). These bones would work in the usual way with other features like the Gilded altar and Ectofuntus.
Aerial Fishing[/b]
In the middle of Lake Molch is a small island home to Nicolas Louchart, a peculiar fishing person with a very different approach to catching.

Nicolas uses birds, specifically Cormorants to catch and return fish and salamanders that take residence in the nearby waters. Similar to Falconry when training Hunter, the player equips the bird on their arm. When clicking a fishing pool, the bird swoops down and returns to the player with the catch. If the player\'s inventory is full, the bird swallows the catch and doesn\'t award any experience to the player. The player must have both hands free to wield the bird.

Click here to read more about Aerial Fishing and what it has to offer![/b]
A catch is guaranteed for each time the bird is sent. The pools of fish move at a somewhat frequent rate, around every 7-12 seconds. Multiple people can catch from the same pool and will see people fishing from all sides of the circular island. If the bird is sent whilst the pool is moving to a new location, it still counts as a successful catch.

King Worms are used as a starting bait which can be gathered on the island. When the player starts to catch fish, they can cut the fish up into stackable \'Fish chunks\'. The bird will take 1 chunk every 3-6 catches as a reward for gathering the fish.

There are 4 types of catch found in Lake Molch:

Bluegill
Bluegill require 43 Fishing and 35 Hunter to catch with Aerial Fishing.

Common Tench
Common tench require 56 Fishing and 51 Hunter to catch with Aerial Fishing.

Mottled Eel
Mottled eel require 73 Fishing and 68 Hunter to catch with Aerial Fishing.

Greater Siren
Greater siren require 91 Fishing and 87 Hunter to catch with Aerial Fishing.

Molch Pearls
Molch pearls can be fished up from Lake Molch when Aerial Fishing. These have a 1/150 chance of being fished up on a successful catch. They are stackable and can be traded with the Angler in his pearl store for various untradeable rewards.
  • Equippable Fishing Rod - 100 Molch pearls
  • Equippable Fly Fishing Rod - 120 Molch pearls
  • Equippable Barbarian Fishing Rod - 150 Molch pearls (can only be purchased if you\'ve got the relevant progress with Otto)
  • Fish sack - 1000 Molch pearls
Golden Tench
In addition to your expected catch, when fishing with your Cormorant, there is a very slim chance that it will return with an extremely rare \'Golden Tench\'. This is a fish that can be equipped in the hand and has no stats. It is not tradeable.
Afbeelding

A player wearing the Golden tench and Fish sack. The Golden tench is an extremely rare reward from Aerial Fishing. It has no stats, is not tradeable and is purely cosmetic.
At level 43 Fishing and 35 Hunter, you should expect to earn approximately 17k Fishing, 25k Hunter and 5k Cooking experience per hour from Aerial Fishing. Cooking experience is only granted if you are cutting the catch.

At level 99 Fishing and 99 Hunter, you should expect to earn approximately 60k Fishing, 80k Hunter and 15k Cooking experience per hour from Aerial Fishing. Cooking experience is only granted if you are cutting the catch.

[/url]Warding[/b]
The ground shook across the land as six ominous rocks rose from the earth in a swirl of magic and rubble. The scholars of the Wizards\' Tower were quick to act and immediately began studying the monolithic monstrosities. They quickly discovered a method of manipulating the energy within the rocks and with various magical tools used it to create armour with impressive capabilities. Some would say this came far too easily. As if they knew exactly what they were doing...

Dive into Old School RuneScape\'s first new skill by discovering the hidden armaments of the Wizards\' Tower and gaining insight into the practice of Warding. There you will learn the intricate art of drawing Wards and channelling Runic energy to create a vast array of armour suited for Witches and Wizards.

Where does Warding fit into Old School?

To understand the role of Warding, let\'s identify the gap it\'s designed to fill. As Smithing is to Melee and Crafting is to Ranged, Warding is to Magic. Currently, mage equipment is either bought or dropped by monsters rather than created by the player, making Magic an exception to the other two sides of the combat triangle. Warding allows players to channel Runic energy into woven materials and transform them into magical robes and armour. To train Warding, players must draw a Ward onto the ground and use materials they have gathered on it. This channels the power of the Anima Mundi, in the form of Runic energy, into the materials.
Afbeelding

Materials[/b]
The materials used in Warding will include various barks, cloths and leathers. These can be woven from raw materials acquired by Farming, Hunter and killing certain monsters. To create new equipment, new prey will be added to the Hunter skill and new crops will be added for Farming. The latter will include a Magnanerie for cultivating worms and harvesting their silk.
AfbeeldingAfbeelding

Runic Energy[/b]
Runic energy is a powerful new resource contained within the Runestone monoliths. Players can draw Runic the energy out and store it by casting spells on the monoliths. This gives players the option to train Magic by splashing but with the added benefit of gathering a useful resource at the same time. This should take splashers out of the Lumbridge Castle basement and spread them across Gielinor at more thematic locations. Wearing equipment that provides a Magic bonus will increase Runic energy potential, breaking up the army of graceful clones! It will also be possible to passively collect energy at Rune altars when Runecrafting.

The energy will be a tiered resource, meaning that you will gather Mind Energy at one Runic monolith and Death energy at another, for example. The tier of energy you need for Warding will depend on your level and the equipment you wish to create. A conversion system which will allow Runic energy to be upgraded or downgraded, but some will be lost in the process.
Afbeelding

Tools[/b]
Soapstones
The first tools used for Warding are Soapstones. These are created by chiselling a lump of Steatite and charging it with runes. Steatite can be obtained through Mining or bought from shops and other players.

You can create four different Soapstones, depending on the runes you use to charge them: Air, Water, Earth, and Fire. The more powerful Soapstones will require a higher Warding level to use but have an added benefit. This may take the form of reduced Runic energy consumption but is subject to balancing. You will be able to use Wards drawn by other players to receive the benefit of higher level Soapstones when training, adding a social element to the skill. While you can draw a Ward anywhere, players may choose to Ward at the Runic monolith sites for lower rates of Runic energy use at the cost of being further away from a bank.
AfbeeldingAfbeeldingAfbeeldingAfbeelding

Channelling Lamps
Channelling Lamps are equippable tools used to store Runic energy. When casting spells on Runic monoliths or Runecrafting, the Runic energy you generate will fill the lamp you have equipped. Higher level lamps will be required to gather higher tier energy or use it at a Ward.

A Step by Step Guide to Warding[/b]

A player gathers raw resources from Farming, Hunter or trade which are woven or prepared into material. Then, Runic energy is gathered by casting spells on a Runestone monolith or Runecrafting and stored in a Channelling lamp.

Other Perks[/b]
Dissolving
Another use for Wards take the form of dissolving. This involves using undesired or junk items and using them on a Ward to break them down. In return, you\'ll receive Runic energy and a chance to get back some of the components the item is made of. For example, dissolving an Adamant Platebody will give a chance of receiving back some Adamant bars.

Nightmare Zone
Many consider the Nightmare Zone to be overpowered - particularly the reward shop. To make both the Nightmare Zone and Warding feel as thematic and Old School as possible, there is the option to tie the ability to imbue rings and other items to various Warding levels.

Impact of Warding on Old School[/b]
We appreciate this is a lot to take in and that many of you will have an avalanche of questions for Mod West and the Old School team. At the end of this blog, there are links to the feedback threads where you can ask questions and discuss ideas for the skill. We have also anticipated some of the questions you may have and done our best to answer them. Bear in mind much of this is subject to change and some of it may be irrelevant as the skill takes shape!

Is Warding available to non-members?

Similar to Smithing and Crafting, Warding is designed to be open to free players though the highest-level equipment and specialised items will be members only. We expect the lower level items, up to around level 40, to be available in free to play.

Will Warding be quest locked?

Due to the nature of the skill, we would like it to be accessible as early as possible in the game. Ideally this means shortly after leaving Tutorial Island, prospective mages will be able to create their own equipment the same way warriors and rangers can. With this in mind, we don\'t plan to lock the skill behind a quest. Other skills may help, as Mining does for Smithing, but will not be a requirement.

Can Warding produce BIS equipment?

The goal of Warding is to create viable equipment, particularly for low to medium level players the same way Smithing and Crafting produce up to Rune and Black d\'hide armour. However, Warding provides access to defensive magical armours and will not produce armour with high magical accuracy bonuses. We still expect the top tier magical equipment to include the likes of Ahrim\'s and Ancestral. There is scope for further equipment to be added to Warding if the community sees fit. NB SOULBARK AND BLOODBARK IMAGES

How will Warding affect the economy?

We expect that as a production skill, Warding will stimulate the in-game economy overall. It creates further incentives to train Farming, Hunter and Runecraft. However, it\'s far too early to predict the prices of the resources, materials and created equipment or if the skill will be a good money-making method. Gathering Runic energy could be profitable for players willing to sell to others who don\'t want to get it themselves.

The fabled Elf series begins with Plague City where the player character, discovers the whole West side of Ardougne has been locked under quarantine by mysterious figures known as the Mourners. After breaking into the city and rescuing Elena, during Biohazard she gives you some plague samples to have tested by a chemist. Upon completing this task, you discover the plague is a hoax and confront King Lathas who admits to fabricating this lie. He claims this was done to protect his people from his evil brother King Tyras who has been corrupted by a mysterious Dark Lord.

You undertake the task of freeing the passage to the elven lands with the goal of facing King Tyras in Underground Pass, defeating Iban along the way. In Regicide, you make your way back through the pass into the elven lands and assassinate King Tyras with the help of Lord Iorwerth, Kind Lathas\' ally. On your way to deliver the news to King Lathas, you are incepted by Arianwyn who reveals that it is in fact Iorwerth and Lathas serving the Dark Lord and that they are plotting to reclaim Camelot.

In Mourning\'s End Part I you gain access to Lletya, the rebel elves\' hideout and meet with Arianwyn. After discovering that the Mourners are elves from the capital city, you decide to infiltrate Mourner HQ. There you learn from the head mourner that their real job is to keep people believing in the plague. Their plan is to use the victims as slaves to dig through a temple with the goal of resurrecting the Dark Lord.

Through Mourning\'s End Part II travel to the Temple of Light and navigate your way through by solving the intricate security system using mirrors and discover the Death Altar at its end. Using a charged crystal, repaired for you by Eluned, you activate the large crystal at the Temple\'s entrance, sealing it for another thousand years.

Now it is time to join Elena and her allies in exposing the plague hoax and starting a revolution against King Lathas and Lord Iorwerth in Song of the Elves. The Old School Team presents the newest Grandmaster quest - completing the game\'s first ever storyline!

You can click the map for a larger version.

Prifddinas was first added to the map 14 years ago, and we think it\'s fair to say it\'s been a long time coming. Those who manage to bring an end to the schemes of King Lathas and Lord Iorwerth will finally be able to access the crystal city of Prifddinas. Within its walls lie many new characters and challenges.

We\'ll only be detailing two things within this blog, but rest assured there is much more to come. We\'ll be releasing a dedicated blog for Song of the Elves in the near future with more information and additions based on your feedback and ideas!

The Gauntlet
To the PvMers among you, we present The Gauntlet! A brand-new challenge requiring players to start from scratch with no weapons or armour.
  • Face off against crystalline versions of monsters
  • Collect resources, weapons and armour as you go
  • The pressure will be on as you find your time to gather equipment is rather limited before you engage in combat
  • All new boss monster to face, expected to be one of the toughest Old School has ever seen
Skilling Boss
We also have the latest skilling boss, which will also be found within the city.
  • Too powerful for normal weapons, use multiple skills with a focus on the Mining skill to create explosives which damage the boss
  • Unlike the Wintertodt, expect this boss to deal damage to you directly rather than just through the environment
  • For successfully defeating the boss, expect to be rewarded with Mining resources and a shot at brand new uniques
  • A focus on item rewards rather than experience
Crystal Armour[/b]
To match existing Crystal weapons, completing Song of the Elves will grant access to unlock Crystal armour from within Prifddinas, one of many rewards on offer. The new set is expected to roughly match the stats of the existing Crystal shield and be similar in strength to Barrows.

Your Feedback[/b]
Just as we are looking for the Community\'s opinion on Warding, we also want to hear your ideas for Song of the Elves and Prifddinas. In the spirit of Old School, it\'s down to you to shape the crystal city by letting us know what kind of content you would like to see! There are eight elven districts, leaving lots of room for small, medium and large content. Your feedback and suggestions for both The Gauntlet and the skilling boss are highly appreciated.

The ground shook across the land as six ominous rocks rose from the earth in a swirl of magic and rubble. The scholars of the Wizards' Tower were quick to act and immediately began studying the monolithic monstrosities. They quickly discovered a method of manipulating the energy within the rocks and with various magical tools used it to create armour with impressive capabilities. Some would say this came far too easily. As if they knew exactly what they were doing...

Dive into Old School RuneScape's first new skill by discovering the hidden armaments of the Wizards' Tower and gaining insight into the practice of Warding. There you will learn the intricate art of drawing Wards and channelling Runic energy to create a vast array of armour suited for Witches and Wizards.

Where does Warding fit into Old School?

To understand the role of Warding, let's identify the gap it's designed to fill.
Afbeelding
Afbeelding
Materials
The materials used in Warding will include various barks, cloths and leathers. These can be woven from raw materials acquired by Farming, Hunter and killing certain monsters. To create new equipment, new prey will be added to the Hunter skill and new crops will be added for Farming. The latter will include a Magnanerie for cultivating worms and harvesting their silk.

Afbeelding
Runic Energy

Afbeelding
Afbeelding
Tools

A Step by Step Guide to Warding

A player gathers raw resources from Farming, Hunter or trade which are woven or prepared into material. Then, Runic energy is gathered by casting spells on a Runestone monolith or Runecrafting and stored in a Channelling lamp.

Below is a partial table of how we imagine the Warding skill guide to appear. This includes the item, level, and resources required.

Other Perks
Dissolving
Another use for Wards take the form of dissolving. This involves using undesired or junk items and using them on a Ward to break them down. In return, you'll receive Runic energy and a chance to get back some of the components the item is made of.

Since Xeric's Age of Strife, armies of his Lizardmen have attempted to reclaim Great Kourend in honour of their former ruler. These Lizardmen make their home in the Kebos Lowlands to the west of Kourend. The Lizardmen will defend their home ruthlessly and as such the Kebos Lowlands can be very dangerous to humans. However, those who are willing to enter will find a land of many opportunities.
Afbeelding
Farming Guild
The land deep within the Kebos Lowlands is home to soil more fertile than anywhere else on Gielinor. Land this fertile is highly appealing to members of Hosidius house, even with the threat of the Lizardmen. Following an agreement between Lord Hosidius and Lord Shayzien, a detachment of Shayzien soldiers has been assigned to protect the area. This has allowed Hosidius house to build and maintain a guild where farmers can experiment and master their craft.

Click here to read more about the Farming Guild and what it has to offer!

Farming Guild: Tiers Breakdown
First tier - Requires 45 Farming
  • Guildmaster: Provides background on the Guild.
  • Bank: A bank with a poll booth and a deposit box.

Farming Contracts
Within the Farming guild you will also find the 'Chief Contractor'.

Afbeelding
New Patches
It wouldn't be an expansion to Farming if we didn't include some brand-new patches for you to grow various crops in and the Farming guild has a lot to offer!

Afbeelding
Existing Patch Improvements
Whilst the Farming guild introduces various new patches with new crops, there are certain patches in-game that we'd also like to utilise by adding new crops for you to grow.

Brimstone
On the northern edge of the Kebos Lowlands lies the Sulphur Volcano of Mount Karuulm. Here, the Tasakaal, masters of life and death, make their home. Within the shadow of this volcano lies Brimstone, home to the Kahlith. These beings were once human, but they have abandoned their previous lives in the name of the Tasakaal. Together, the Tasakaal and the Kahlith work together to maintain the balance between life and death. Assist them, and you might just be rewarded.

Click here to read more about Brimstone and what it has to offer!
Within Brimstone you'll find Konar, the newest Slayer Master. There is also a bank with a deposit box and poll booth, a furnace, and a weapon shop that sells some low-level weapons.
Afbeelding
New Slayer Master
Konar, a member of the Kahlith race, is a new Slayer Master located in Brimstone that is accessible to players with 75 Combat. Konar is a little different when compared to your usual Slayer Master in that the tasks he assigns require you to kill monsters in a specific area.

Going out of your way to complete tasks from Konar has its benefits. Each task completed from Konar rewards the player with 18 Slayer reward points and all kills on task from this master have a chance of hitting a new global loot table. The chance of hitting this loot table is scaled by the combat level of the NPC you're fighting, and the loot is granted in addition to any normal drop you would receive. The loot table is split into two potential rewards:

- Generic loot meant as a slight increase to your profits, including food to sustain you on your task.
- A rare chance of getting a new unique drop of the tradeable 1-handed Dragon hasta.
Afbeelding
The Dragon hasta is a new tradeable 1-handed weapon, dropped exclusively through completing tasks assigned by Konar.
Konar (alongside all other Slayer Masters) also sells Boots of stone for 200gp. These require 44 Slayer to equip and are needed to go inside the Brimstone Slayer Dungeon detailed below.

Afbeelding
New Slayer Creatures
With a new Slayer Master comes new Slayer creatures, and a new area to kill them! Near Brimstone lies the Sulphur Volcano of Mount Karuulm, home to a brand-new Slayer dungeon.

The Mount Karuulm Slayer dungeon is single-way combat throughout and includes a task only area. Cannons are allowed in the entire dungeon, aside from a separate chamber where the Alchemical Hydra can be found (see Alchemical Hydra below for more information). In order to stay inside the Karuulm Slayer Dungeon safely you will need to wear Boots of stone, else you'll take consistent damage until you do.

When the Eye of the hydra, Fang of the hydra and Heart of the hydra are combined, these pieces form the tradeable Brimstone ring. The ring has no requirements to equip and has a 1/4 chance with each spell cast to ignore 10% of your opponent's total Magic Defence.
Afbeelding

Ferocious gloves are a new tradeable pair of gloves with a focus on offensive melee. They require 70 Defence to equip.
Afbeelding
When a Hydra claw is combined with a Zamorakian hasta, it forms the tradeable Dragon hunter Lance. This process cannot be undone. The lance requires 70 Attack to equip and has the added effect of 20% increased Accuracy and Damage against Dragon creatures, though it loses its defensive capabilities during its creation.
Afbeelding
Additional Drops
Alongside the individual drops mentioned above, you'll have a chance to receive Dragon knives and Dragon thrownaxes from Wyrms, Drakes, Hydras and the Alchemical Hydra. Dragon thrownaxe would be removed from the Chambers of Xeric loot table.

Aerial Fishing
In the middle of Lake Molch is a small island home to Nicolas Louchart, a peculiar fishing person with a very different approach to catching.

Nicolas uses birds, specifically Cormorants to catch and return fish and salamanders that take residence in the nearby waters. Similar to Falconry when training Hunter, the player equips the bird on their arm. When clicking a fishing pool, the bird swoops down and returns to the player with the catch. If the player's inventory is full, the bird swallows the catch and doesn't award any experience to the player. The player must have both hands free to wield the bird.

Click here to read more about Aerial Fishing and what it has to offer!

When the player starts to catch fish, they can cut the fish up into stackable 'Fish chunks'.

  • Equippable Barbarian Fishing Rod - 150 Molch pearls (can only be purchased if you've got the relevant progress with Otto)
  • Fish sack - 1000 Molch pearls
Golden Tench
In addition to your expected catch, when fishing with your Cormorant, there is a very slim chance that it will return with an extremely rare 'Golden Tench'.

RuneFest: Regarding Recent Events

Originele tekst

While the alleged incidents did not take place at the RuneFest venue or within its opening hours, the safety and wellbeing of those in and around our events is of paramount importance to us.

Having reviewed the allegations we have found that the content creators concerned did breach our code of conduct. We do not tolerate inappropriate or offensive behaviour in any way and, while we had a limited working relationship with some of the individuals, we will not be working with them, or allowing them to attend future Jagex events, going forward.

As we look towards 2019, we will strive to keep future RuneFests, and all Jagex events, safe spaces where attendees can continue to enjoy the inclusiveness and positivity that comes from being part of the RuneScape community.

Poll Blog: The Kebos Lowlands

The purpose of this blog is to detail as much as possible regarding Kebos Lowlands prior to the poll going live in-game to allow for player feedback.

For information regarding the other Old School RuneScape reveals announced during RuneFest 2018, you can find more in the Warding blog and the Song of the Elves blog.

Poll Question #1
Should the Kebos Lowlands, which would include the Farming Guild and a new area called Brimstone, be added to the game?

Spellbook Rework, Wise Old Man and, Increased Zoom

Originele tekst

This week sees the release of the Spellbook Rework for mobile, the highly requested Wise Old Man update and Increased Zoom distance.
AfbeeldingSpellbook Rework
The spellbook tab on Mobile now has an Info button at the button for entering Info mode. In that mode, tapping a spell will bring up the tooltip that shows the required runes and Magic level, making this information properly accessible for Mobile users.
Afbeelding
There's also a Filter button to bring up a menu of simple filters. These let you choose which spells you want to see. As you hide unwanted spells, the app will re-space the remaining icons, and even make them substantially larger if the list is short enough to fit them. This should help you tap the correct button while spellcasting.
Afbeelding
Players have requested this sort of filter before, even as far back as 2013-14; while we've brought it out on Mobile because those users had considerably greater difficulty tapping the spell icons, we'd be open to offering it on Desktop too once its teething issues are sorted. While the change sounds small, there's been a vast amount of infrastructure work involved, since the metadata underlying every single spell needed replacing to enable this update. That means there's always the chance of unexpected side-effects - for Desktop users as well as Mobile. If you run into problems, you can get your messages directly to the testers by right-clicking the 'Report' button in the game (long-press it if you're on Mobile) to find the bug report form. We've also taken the opportunity to tidy up a couple of long-standing niggles, such as the uneven column spacing on the Ancient spellbook (1-2 pixels off!) and the inconsistent order of runes in the ingredient lists. This has been a huge maintenance task as well as a feature update, and your patience with any issues will be very much appreciated. For some insight into what's changed, and why, see the blog from Mod Ash in last week's newspost.
AfbeeldingOther Mobile Changes
Full Launch of Old School Mobile Coming Soon! This week sees plenty of changes for mobile in addition to the spellbook rework in preparation for full launch! To play the full mobile version the moment it's released, make sure to pre-order on the App Store or pre-register on Google Play and be notified the second it goes live!Check out our dedicated news post for full details and what will happen if you already have access to mobile through the beta.If you're playing on Android then we'd like to thank you for playing Old School RuneScape and contributing its development! If you're enjoying the game, please take a moment to leave us a review on Google Play. Special Attack BarThe attack styles interface has been rewritten on both desktop and mobile. Desktop users will see no difference in usage however the special attack bar has changed appearance slightly. The special attack bar was the only bar of its kind in game that used a model instead of just being a colour. The bar itself now uses a block colour like everything else. Mobile users will see that the buttons including the special attack button have been enlarged for easier use. The attack style buttons have been made larger to fill in the gaps.
Afbeelding
Quantity Options for Deposit Boxes
Deposit boxes now have quantity options on mobile, allowing you to deposit specific quantities in a single tap.
Afbeelding
Quest Interface The quest tab has been modified to include arrows for switching between quests, minigames and, the achievement diaries. This allows easier access than the previously small buttons.
AfbeeldingWise Old Man
This change has been highly requested and was met with a resounding Yes in the poll. The Wise Old man's ability to spot redundant non-member quest items in your bank has been rewritten. The feature now includes member's quests and uses a handy interface for discarding items directly so you can keep the ones you want! The Remove All button prompts you with a confirmation screen before removing all of the items shown in the interface.
Afbeelding
This update required a large amount of data gathering work to be done to ensure that the Wise Old Man could remove all the quest items properly. Firstly, the current code infrastructure had to be rewritten, this was because although the Wise Old Man was checking your bank for the Free to Play quest items previously, he would only tell you that you had them and not remove them.
Afbeelding
This system of checking the items would also not be suitable for Members' quest items, as there are so many more of them to check compared to the Free to Play quest items. The first step in checking which Members' quest items that the player has was to create a list of every single item that is used in Members' quests. To do this I manually went through the items that we have from each quest and put them into their own data structure for each quest. This was a tedious task as there were initially about two and a half thousand quest items that needed to be sorted through! I managed to cut this down to the items which could potentially be an issue and then store this information into a data structure for easy reference.
Afbeelding
This is what we call an enum, they are a way in which we pass through a certain value and then output another value corresponding to it. This easily allowed me to keep a list of items for each quest, and then I can only display those items if you have them and have finished the quest.Once this information was sorted and stored into the data structures I then had to check which quests the player had completed so that they could only remove the items once the quest is finished. This was straightforward as we already have a similar system in place for checking quest completion in the quest journal. Finally, with the data able to be easily referenced it was a case of using an interface to display which items the player could remove and ensuring that these items could be removed from their bank, inventory, and worn. Everyone should now have an easier time removing those pesky leftover quest items in the future. ~ Mod Munro
AfbeeldingIncreased Zoom Distance
To allow players to see even more of what's around them, the maximum camera zoom distance has been increased. To account for the additional zoom, another notch has been added on the options side panel.

  • A confusing phrase was reworded within the Recruitment Drive quest's dialogue.

  • We've adjusted text that referred to the game as RuneScape, clarifying that the game is Old School RuneScape and the world is Gielinor. With two games on the market, both called RuneScape, we'd been finding a large amount of confusion from new players who'd landed in the wrong one.
  • The Troll Stronghold teleports unlocked from Making Friends with My Arm now check whether the Fremennik hard diary's rewards have been unlocked, rather than just checking what tasks have been done; this is more consistent with how other diary rewards work.

Mobile Changes, Various Bugfixes and New Merch!

This week sees the release of many Old School RuneScape Mobile changes, alongside your usual round of bugfixes. We also announce the latest additions to the merch store!
Afbeelding
Mobile Changes
As each day passes, we get closer to the 30th October and the full release of Old School RuneScape on Mobile. We're constantly looking at ways to improve the mobile experience, and with this week's game update, we've focused our efforts on the opening game experience.

Tutorial Island Account Management

The Financial Advisor has been replaced in the tutorial with an Account Guide. We thought the previous Financial Advisor was rather unhelpful as he gave some pointless information, so we fired him. His replacement, the Account Guide, will provide new players with more information about various topics such as worlds, bonds and the options that can selected within the Account Management Interface.
Afbeelding
We also took this opportunity to update how in-game links that take you to the store or account pages on the RuneScape website work. They will now log the player in automatically for both Desktop and Mobile versions. In addition, the tile displaying how much remaining membership an account has can now be selected to link players to the store, should they wish to extend their membership.

Increased scrollable area of the bank

Mobile players will now be able to make use of the empty sides of the bank interface to scroll through their bank. This gives more interface real-estate to be able to navigate through the bank.

iOS Closed Beta: Game Center Login Testing
With the continued in-game improvements to Mobile, we've also been looking at ways to improve things for new players. If you're familiar with apps running on iOS, you've likely seen the option to login with a Game Center account.

We're happy to announce that with this week's game update, we're also publishing an updated version of the iOS Mobile app that allows new accounts to be created through the Game Center! We'd love to get some feedback on this new feature, but we need your help!
Afbeelding
The above image shows how the Game Center login screen will look. This is not the final design.
We're aware that those of you lucky enough to be part of the current iOS Beta are existing members with accounts you're already getting gains on, so we'd like to ask that you sign out of your account and try to create a new one using the Game Center. If you encounter any issues with this, your feedback is very much appreciated on the Old School Mobile Testing forum.

Please note: we are aware of an issue in where if the app has been open in the background for more than 15 minutes, there is a 40+ second delay when attempting to login. This will be resolved in a future release and so there's no need to include it as part of any feedback.

Portal Nexus: Coming Soon!
For those of you that may have missed this week's Q&A, we discussed the unfortunate delays with the release of the Portal Nexus, something we'd hope to have included with this week's game update. We expect the Portal Nexus to be ready for release in the coming weeks, depending on any issues found during the QA process.

Mod Maz has been leading this project and was kind enough to provide us with an update on how things have been going so far. The following words are from her.

The above image shows the Portal Nexus room, including the various hotspots that will be available.
The project is now in testing! This means that the majority of dev is complete and we're down to feedback points and any bugs that QA may find. The most enjoyable thing about working on this project was actually how satisfying it was when I plugged the room and hotspots in and was able to add my own in a test world!

The fully upgraded Portal Nexus teleport configuration menu.
The above image shows off the rather elaborate Nexus Portal configuration menu. From here you're able to drag and drop the various teleports you've unlocked into the available slots and select which of these acts as the left-click. The order in which these appear in the Slots list defines how they appear on the teleport interface, highlighted a little further down in this post. Once you've paid for a teleport, it will be permanently unlocked to use freely, so long as you keep it in the slotted list, and the Nexus Portal exists. If you unslot it or delete the nexus or room, you will have to pay again. Rearranging teleports in the slotted list or changing your left click option is free. If you remove the Nexus Portal for any reason, you'll need to repurchase the teleport unlocks! There is a warning telling you of this to ensure you really want to remove them.

By far the biggest challenge with the Portal Nexus has to be the same reason it's had to be delayed, for now. There was a very elusive interface bug which neither Ash nor I could find for hours. We thought it might be an engine bug, but it turned out to be a component that was blocking clicks that was unhidden when it should have been hidden. Because the component was an invisible one... It was quite hard to see!

Halloween 2018 Event and Tutorial Island Improvements

Originele tekst

This week sees the release of this year's Halloween event! We are also getting ready for the biggest launch Old School has seen to date - the full release of Mobile! In preparation, we've made some minor changes to Tutorial Island.
AfbeeldingHalloween 2018 Event: The Chambers of Eric
Everyone knows it's the time of year for a Halloween event, especially Eric, who thinks he's designed a rather good one. His niece and nephew aren't optimistic. They'd likely have been content to go Trick-or-Treating around their neighbourhood, but Eric is determined to show off his creative flair and give the kids a Halloween treat they'll never forget. Then maybe his family won't think he's such a boring old fool.
Afbeelding
Eric's creative flair may turn out to be lacking, but there's no limit to his determination to deliver his Halloween treat. He won't let little matters such as hygiene stand in his way, nor respect for the dead. Meet him outside the church near Rimmington to help him create the Chambers of Eric.
Afbeelding
Once you've dealt with the consequences - and there'll be consequences alright - you'll be rewarded with a strangely chilling costume to help you stop making friends, along with Eek the Spider who'll be your friend anyway. You'll also unlock all the prior years' Halloween items, emotes, skin colours, music tracks and the wall kit for your player-owned house. The event will stay open until the game update on Thursday 8th November. No combat is required, so all account builds can participate.

AfbeeldingTutorial Island Improvements
Afbeelding
Tutorial Island is one of the most nostalgic and iconic features of Old School RuneScape. With the full release of mobile just around the corner, we're expecting a lot of players to pass through the island to join us on the mainland. With this in mind, we've worked with the Analytics team to identify points of the island new players are most likely to drop out and used this as our focus for improvements. To hit the balance between keeping the nostalgia of the island intact while streamlining the experience for new players, we've kept the changes small.Survival Section
Afbeelding
The order players are instructed to complete tasks has been rearranged in the Survival section of the tutorial. Previously, players were asked to chop a tree and light a fire before fishing. Now, they are asked to fish first. This change was made because by the time the player had caught a fish, their first fire had often gone out meaning they had to light a second one. Additionally, players are no longer guaranteed to burn the first Shrimp they catch. While burning food happens commonly in the game, it's not something that the player needs to learn about during the tutorial.Music ListDuring the second cooking section of the tutorial, the player was previously required to open their music list. This section has been removed. While music is an essential part of the game, it isn't something players must learn about in the tutorial (especially given no tracks are unlocked at this point). Instead, players can explore their music list and discover the succulent beats of songs like Sea Shanty 2 once they reach the mainland.EmotesThe Emotes panel is another interface players were required to open during the tutorial. Similary to music, it makes more sense for players to discover these in their own time later in the game as they are not a fundamental mechanic. Because of this, the emotes section has been removed. Other Changes:
  • Whenever a sidestone flashes, the background now flashes as well as the icon, making the buttons easier to see.
  • The Combat Section now describes the View Equipment Stats button to make it clear which one is correct. It also flashes as the sidestones do.
  • Messages which previously required scrolling to read have been condensed so scrolling is no longer needed.
  • The section teaching the player how to run now highlights the minimap orb and is optional.
  • Prospecting has been removed from the tutorial as it is not essential but will remain as a feature in game.
  • Previously, the tutorial furnace required players to use their ores on it. Now it has a left-click option in line with all other furnaces in the game.
Afbeelding
Alongside the above changes, we've made various tweaks to dialogue and default settings to help make sure the tutorial is the best it can be. Any player who was mid-way through a removed section before this update will find they have been moved a stage forwards or backwards (whichever was most suitable) when they next log in.We'll be working with the Analytics team to monitor these changes and see what impact they have. Depending on the results, we may look to make further changes in future updates. As always, we are keen to hear your feedback on these changes and any future ones.

Poll Blog: Bounty Hunter and PvP Changes

Poll Blog: Bounty Hunter and PvP Changes

Poll Blog: Bounty Hunter and PvP Changes

In preparation for the Bounty Hunter rework, we're looking to make some popular requested balancing changes to PvP, with a focus on Bounty Hunter in particular. Alongside these, we'd like to poll a few recently suggested QoL changes.

Any of the below changes to PvP and Bounty Hunter are not the larger Bounty Hunter rework that was announced at RuneFest.

Afbeelding
In July 2018, we announced some unpolled changes we intended to make to PvP that we considered to be matters of balancing, intended to benefit those who engage with the content the most. If you missed it, you can find the detail in this blog post. The changes were very positively received by both the PvP community and the wider playerbase.

Since announcing the Bounty Hunter rework at RuneFest, we've had an overwhelming amount of feedback regarding other issues that still reside within PvP, and so we'd like to address these in the coming weeks prior to revealing the full Bounty Hunter rework blog which is due in early December. Your feedback on these changes will help shape how they are added to the game, but it is important to note that they will not be polled:
Afbeelding
Bounty Hunter Changes
The first thing we'd like to change is the Bounty Hunter overlay, but only slightly. We'd like to improve the functionality of it by allowing players to move the position of the overlay to the left, right or middle of the screen on desktop only, and the added functionality of collapsing the overlay so it can be hidden on both desktop and mobile.
Afbeelding
Bounty Hunter Targets

Since implementing the option for all players to toggle the ability to receive a Bounty Hunter target past level 10 Wilderness, which once toggled on causes players to only get targets in levels 1-10 of the Wilderness, we've been made aware of several problems regarding the Bounty Hunter targets players are receiving.

The Wilderness has always been famed due to the concept of risk vs reward, but when fighting another player, it can be difficult to ensure they're risking an amount worthy of your own risk. Whilst it is possible to skip these lower value targets, it's more often than not that players find themselves stuck waiting either 30 or 3 minutes to receive another target due to skipping too many times. We'd like to improve the experience for players wanting to get stuck into the action of Bounty Hunter by allowing them to freely skip their target if they aren't risking a Mysterious emblem.

In addition to this, we'd also like to change it so that players are able to freely skip their target if said target doesn't have a PvP Skull. Whilst most players that fight without a skull are wearing gear of very high value, the player with the skull typically risks more or the same amount but is at a huge disadvantage due to the difference in the quality of gear being worn. This should make it so those looking for a fairer fight are able to do so without having to worry about having a cooldown for skipping too many targets.

When two targets are fighting one another, it's currently possible to skip your target mid-fight. This can be rather frustrating at times, due to the way Bounty Hunter targets get priority over combat compared to others trying to intervene with a fight. We'd like to change it so players are unable to skip their target whilst in combat with said target.

The final change we'd like to make is that you are required to have a Mysterious emblem in your inventory in order for you to be able to receive one as a drop from killing your target. Players that are unable or unwilling to purchase their first Mysterious emblem from the Grand Exchange will need to obtain one from Wilderness Slayer before heading onto the battlefield!

Bounty Hunter Penalties

When a player has been assigned a target in Bounty Hunter, that target is locked in until either player decides to skip, leave the Wilderness for 2-minutes, or log out. It is currently possible to step in and out of the Wilderness in quick succession to prevent the 2-minute timer from going down as fast as it should, meaning if a player wants to grief their target, they can make them wait around 5 minutes before the target is lost unless they choose to skip them. We'd like to prevent this from being so easy to abuse by changing it so players must be in the Wilderness for at least 6 seconds before the timer stops going down.
Afbeelding
Other PvP Changes
Mysterious Emblems

It's currently possible to instantly destroy a Mysterious emblem, meaning you not only do you lose it, you also prevent any opponent you might be fighting from getting it. We'll be changing it so that you will have to wait 6-seconds in order to destroy a Mysterious emblem, regardless of you being in combat or not.

Clan Wars Portal

The Clan Wars portal is commonly used by many players for many reasons. The most common reasons are for replenishing health and run energy. We don't want to change this functionality, but there is an issue where it's currently possible for you to engage in combat with another player, gaining a skull, then use the Clan Wars portal to remove that skull. When this is done, you can return to combat with the same player but you will no longer receive a PvP skull. We'll be changing it so that if you lose your skull via the Clan Wars portal, you'll always get a new one when you next attack another player.

PvP World Protection

In PvP worlds, the moment you step into a safe zone you can no longer be attacked. We think this functionality should remain for those not engaging in combat, but players rushing from the safe zone and attacking players outside of it, only to return to the safety of the safe zone moments afterwards is an increasing problem. We'd like to change it so that if you engage in combat with another player in a PvP world, you can be attacked back by that player for 6-seconds after entering the safe zone. This means you will be able to step in and out of the safe zone safely without being attacked whilst inside the safe zone unless you have attacked another player. If that is the case, then only the player you attacked would be able to attack you back.

Anglerfish

Anglerfish are commonly used in both PvP and PvM, and for good reason. They give you the ability to heal above your maximum Hitpoints, making the maximum Hitpoints possible be 121 if you use them at 99 Hitpoints. This is heavily utilised in PvP situations to ensure the player remains safe and has less risk of being killed with a combination of attacks. We'd like to keep the ability for Anglerfish to overheal in both PvP and PvM, but we'd like to change how they work when used within the Wilderness and on PvP/Bounty Hunter worlds. The change would mean that the overheal effect of Anglerfish would only apply when they are used outside of combat when in the Wilderness or on a PvP/Bounty Hunter world.

Energy Transfer

Energy Transfer is a Lunar spell that restores all of the targets run energy and special attack. It is commonly used in PvP worlds to fully restore another players special attack multiple times whilst they're in a fight, giving the person who Energy Transfer is being cast on a distinct advantage over their opponent. We'd like to change the way Energy Transfer works in PvP Worlds so the target of the spell must have been out of combat for 15 seconds before it can be cast on them.

Special Attacks & Teleporting

The term spec tabbing is often used in PvP scenarios, and it refers to the situation where a player unloads their entire Special Attack on an opponent and instantly teleports away. This could be at the start or at the end of the fight, but the intention is to try and get lucky with a high damage hit without taking any risk, as the act of teleporting negates any damage they would have taken. To help promote more of a fairer PvP environment, we'd like to make it so that you are unable to teleport for 3 to 6 seconds after using a Special Attack whilst in the Wilderness or in a PvP/Bounty Hunter world. This would also prevent you from entering a Player Owned House portal.

Boxing

Certain players at PvP hotspot locations will attack another account without dealing any damange or being attacked back, meaning neither player is at risk of dying nor can they be attacked by others. For example, Player A will attack Player B with low offensive items, and Player B tanks the damage and doesn't attack back - neither Player A or Player B can be attacked as they're both in combat. When another player enters the area, let's call them Player C, Player A will stop attacking Player B and be able to instantly attack Player C. We'd like to change it so that Player A and Player B will need to be attacking each other, else after a certain period of time, they'll both be able to be attacked by anyone.

Player Kills & Loot Issues

We recently made some changes intended to tackle the issue where a player gets a kill in PvP and receives no loot. Whilst we've made some good progress with preventing these instances from happening, it still occurs in certain situations. We'd like to improve this further by changing it so that if your opponent has been out of combat with their previous opponent for 18 seconds, or if they use a bank, you will be assigned the loot should you kill them.
Afbeelding
Poll Questions
This blog has had a heavy focus on balancing changes that we do not intend to poll, but we also have some questions we'd like to put forward to you, the community, to vote upon. The first question we'd like to offer you is regarding the Rune pouch. The Rune pouch is a strong piece of equipment used in both PvP and PvM. Players have often asked why though, given its uses, has it been exclusive to the Bounty Hunter store?

Locking it behind PvP content has resulted in players feeling forced to participate in Bounty Hunter who would prefer not to, and instead of getting their Mysterious emblems via killing Bounty Hunter targets or Wilderness Slayer, have instead opted to trade for kills with other players. We'd like to offer to potential for players to be able to obtain the Rune pouch outside of the Bounty Hunter store, in the hopes that by having only those interested in Bounty Hunter feel drawn to the area, improving the overall quality of the minigame for those who play it as intended.

We feel that in addition to the Bounty Hunter store, adding the Rune pouch to the Slayer Rewards shop would be a suitable alternative. The cost to purchase the Rune pouch from here would be 1250 Slayer points.

Poll Question #1
Should it be possible for players to purchase the Rune pouch from the Slayer Rewards shop in addition to the Bounty Hunter Store? This would cost 1,250 Slayer points and offers an alternative route to obtaining the Rune pouch without requiring PvP.

The Portal Nexus

Originele tekst

This week sees the release of the Portal Nexus room for Player Owned Houses alongside the release of some Tournament worlds in celebration of the upcoming All Stars: PvP Championship!
Afbeelding
The Portal Nexus
The Portal Nexus is a structure that allows you to re-direct the destination of the portal it holds to any place currently covered by portals in the Portal Chamber. The advantage of the Nexus is that it allows players to have all their portals in one room. The Nexus has three tiers, allowing the player to add 4, 8 and unlimited destinations with tier 1, 2 and 3 respectively.
Afbeelding
The Tier 1 Portal Nexus, made of marble.
The Configuration Menu option on the Nexus brings up the interface below. From here, you can drag and drop Available teleports on the left to the list in the centre. This adds them to the Nexus - if you don't have the necessary resources, you'll get a game message in the chatbox explaining what you need. Each destination costs 1000x the resources required to cast the standard teleport spell to that location. You can also set the left-click teleport for the Nexus in this interface by dragging the one you want from the centre list to the right, over the portal. Be sure to press the save and close button to save your changes, this will bring up a confirmation message displaying the resources that are about to be used.
Afbeelding
The Teleport Menu allows you to choose which destination you wish to teleport to. Alternatively, you can use the toggle at the right of the interface to enter Scry mode, allowing you to see the selected location. Desktop users can use the number keys to quickly select their destination.
Afbeelding
Amulet Hotspots

The Portal Nexus room will house two amulet hotspots allowing players to build a mounted Xeric's talisman or a mounted Digsite pendant. You can build both amulet hotspots, but you're limited to mounting only one of each. No double Digsite pendants, sorry! These will work exactly like their item variants but have infinite charges.
Afbeelding
The Configure option for these allows you to choose the left-click teleport destination.

The requirements for the mounted Xeric's talisman are: 72 Construction, 1 Mahogany plank, 1 Gold leaf, 1 Xeric's talisman (inert) and 5000 Lizardman fangs.

To mount the Digsite pendant, you will require: 82 Construction, 1 Mahogany plank, 1 Gold leaf and 1 Curator's medallion. The Curator's medallion is obtained from Haig Halen in Varrock Museum by providing him with a Digsite pendant with any number of charges, 250 Rubies, 100 Cosmic runes and 500 Fire runes. Rubies can be given to Haig Halen in either unnoted or noted form, and he'll remember how many you've given him if you didn't hand in the full 250 at once.

Skills Tab

Free players will now see members-only skills greyed out when they open the skill tab. This is to aid players with knowing which skills they have access to and which they don't. Upon hovering over the total level (or selecting it on mobile), free players will now also see their free to play skill total, excluding members-only skills.
Afbeelding
Suggested Display Names

When players login without a display name and attempt to search for one that is not available, they will now be presented with 3 available options that they can select from alongside searching for another. This is to help new players who have had difficulty finding an available name.

Random Events
Random events have been a nostalgic part of Old School since the beginning. However, many have outlived their practical use so we looked for a way to leave the nostalgia intact without disrupting the gameplay of both new players and those uninterested in the events. As such, the following changes have been made:

These events can now be left early by talking to the NPC:
  • Drill Demon
  • Gravedigger
  • Prison Pete
  • Beekeeper
These events can now be left early via the door:
  • Evil Twin
  • Pinball
  • Surprise Exam
  • Pattern Recognition
These events can now be left early via the portal:
  • Evil Bob
  • Freaky Forester
Players will now leave the Maze event automatically when the timer runs out and the Beekeper event has been removed from mobile. Players currently in the Beekeeper event on mobile will still have to finish it.

Additional changes:
  • The walls of the Maze event no long have options to click on, only the gates do.
  • The pheasants in the Freaky Forester event can still be attacked even if the player has their attack options hidden.
  • The camera no longer sways in the pinball event.
  • The player can use any door to leave the pattern recognition event.

All Stars: PvP Championship - Tournament Worlds
In celebration of the upcoming All Stars: PvP Championship, a total of four new public Tournament worlds have been added this week, giving you the freedom to select your own stats and a wide range of equipment to choose from to handcraft your perfect set up every time. You might also notice four other Tournament worlds have also been added - these are available exclusively to our All Stars, giving them a bit more of a private practicing experience.
Afbeelding
Whether you've been playing Old School RuneScape for a week or since the release, Tournament worlds are the perfect way to develop and hone your abilities in a PvP scenario (or just cause some carnage in the arena).

For those unfamiliar with Tournament worlds, logging into one will place you here:
Afbeelding
Once you've logged in, you'll notice a nearby table. This table allows you to quickly grab your gear and modify your stats by right-clicking it:
Afbeelding
Selecting Take from the table will open an interface which lists lots of different equipment for you to choose. These include rewards from some of the latest content including the Theatre of Blood, the latest Revenant Cave uniques and more!
Afbeelding
Selecting Set-stats from the table will open an interface that lists all of your skills and your current level beside it (in brackets). If you want to change any of these, simply select one of the skills and type the level you'd like it to be changed to.

The All Stars: PvP Championship kicks off on the 24th November! If you haven't already, head on over to our Twitch channel and set yourself a reminder for the event by clicking here.

If you want to keep up-to-date with all of the action leading up to and during the event, make sure you've followed our new PvP related Twitter account @OSRSPvP.

Please note that Tournament worlds will not remember what gear or stats you had from your previous session. Each time you log in you will have to select your gear and stats again.

AfbeeldingPlayer Workshops: UK and USA
As you probably know (and filled out!) we carried out one of our biggest ever surveys earlier on in the year. For those who spent time submitting your answers, thank you! We expect to share with you what we found soon.We have been reviewing and crunching the numbers, and there is a whole load more that we want to find out. Throughout the next year, we'll be launching a number of research projects, getting your feedback in new and creative ways. Look out for announcements on the Old School RuneScape news page, Twitch, your player inbox, email, and Twitter. The first we are able to announce are workshops, running in early December in the UK and USA. Those who take part will be invited to a studio to provide feedback and thoughts, contributing to where we go next as a game. Those who attend will also be provided food and drinks and remunerated as a thank you. There will be emails and inbox messages sent out in the next few days to a, inviting a random selection of players who are interested, to fill out a short form and provide contact details for a Jagex representative call and invite to one of our workshops. Those of you who don't get an email this time - don't worry - we've got loads more planned in the next 12 months! Our Head of Research (Mod Searcher) is on Twitter if you want to ask anything about this project (@JagexSearcher).

POH Portals, DHCB Recolour and Planned Changes

Originele tekst

This week brings added portals to Player Owned Houses and a recolour for the Dragon hunter crossbow. We also outline some balancing around Bird houses planned for next week, exciting additions to the merch store, Premier Club and a competition.
AfbeeldingGhorrock, Carrallangar and Catherby POH Portals
Afbeelding
Players may now add portals to Ghorrock, Carrallangar and Catherby to their portal rooms in their POH for 100 times the number of runes required to teleport to these locations. These destinations may also be added to the recently released Portal Nexus for the usual cost of 1,000 times the cost of a standard teleport. Nexus users! In response to player feedback, secondary destinations such as the Grand Exchange will now be listed under their parent destination in the teleport menu rather than at the bottom. Also, the first list of teleports in the Nexus has been ordered by level and spellbook.
AfbeeldingDragon Hunter Crossbow Recolour
The base colours of the Dragon hunter crossbow have been updated to resemble the Great Olm, making it distinguishable from the Dragon crossbow.

AfbeeldingOther Changes:
Rune pouch now in Slayer reward points shop.Until now, the Rune pouch has only been available as a Bounty Hunter reward. This encouraged players with no interest in Bounty Hunter to farm it as simply as possible to get the pouch, decreasing the quality of activity for people who actually wanted to do PvP. To remedy this, the Slayer Reward points shop now sells the same Rune pouches found in the Bounty Hunter Store. These pouches can be purchased from any slayer master for 1,250 Slayer Reward points.

AfbeeldingPlanned Changes: Bird Nests And Bird Houses
Afbeelding
Bird nestsBirds nests and Saradomin brew prices have dropped to a point where we feel we must intervene. As such, we'll be making the following integrity changes next week, pending community feedback and a poll due to go live this week.To help stabilise the cost of brews, all PvM nest drops (Vorkath, Zulrah and Callisto) will have their nest drops removed. Only Callisto will have his nest drop replaced with 30 Dragon bones. We agree with many of you that PvM should not be the primary method for obtaining skilling resources. This change is in line with that belief. We recognise that the Giant Mole's niche is providing certain resources so will not change that. We aim to cement the Mole's position as the main method for gathering nests via PvM and raise its falling GP p/hr. Bird housesAs they currently stand, the number of nests given is based on Bird house tier. We think this, too, is quite strong. As these Bird houses have lower Hunter requirements compared to the levels necessary to craft them, people are capable of simply buying the highest tier and profiting regardless of Hunter level. To tackle this, the following changes are being made:
  • The overall chance of obtaining a nest from Bird houses will be lowered.
  • The number of nests given is now randomised based on your Hunter level and Bird house tier.
Those at 99 should still see a drop overall, though not one as large as those at a lower Hunter level. On average, those at 50 Hunter will get half the number of nests as those at 99 if both are using Redwood houses.Polled ChangesThe hop seeds required for bird feed are arduous to obtain in high quantities. We will be polling an increase in the quantity of hop seeds gained from Master Farmers. We would also like to offer giving the birds a taste for herb seeds. Each would give 1 charge and every seed above than Ranarr will give 2.This should reduce the number of nests gained from the Bird houses, reducing the current and potential future brew pricing issues. However, it should still be a lucrative method for those training their Hunter skill. We take balancing and integrity of this game seriously and only intervene when we deem it necessary. We'll be keeping an eye on the changes and may tweak them if they have any negative or unintended effects.
AfbeeldingMerch Store: Map Of Gielinor Now Available!
You may have seen the new map of Gielinor offered as a prize in the recent survey and mobile launch. Many of you have asked about it, and now you can own a copy for your wall!Featuring iconic locations from both Old School and RuneScape and a few familiar creatures, the map is a decorative representation of the shared fantasy world in which both versions of the game are set. The fine art prints are available in four different sizes. You can see the options here on our merch store.

Bird Nest Balancing and PvP Changes

Bericht door Bot »

Bird Nest Balancing and PvP Changes

Originele tekst

This week brings some balancing to Bird houses and Bird nests as well as some changes to PvP.
AfbeeldingBird House And Bird Nest Balancing
As discussed in last week's news post, we are going ahead with some integrity changes designed to stabilise the price of Saradomin brews and reduce the influx of bird nests into the game. We decided this was necessary as the cost of brews was being lowered to a point that regular food was affected. Bird houses have introduced many bird nests into game and are widely accepted to be overpowered. Bird Nests From PvM
Afbeelding
The bird nest drops have been removed from Vorkath and Zulrah. Callisto's bird nest drop has also been removed and replaced with 30 Dragon bones. This will reduce the number of nests coming into game while also contributing to our efforts to stop skilling resources being gained via PvM. This makes the other drops from these bosses slightly more common with the exception of their uniques. Therefore, these changes will not significantly affect the profits of farming these bosses. As it was originally designed to be the PvM method of obtaining bird nests, the Giant Mole's loot table has been left unaffected.Bird Houses
Afbeelding
Our goal is to reduce the overall number of bird nests coming into game from bird houses but leave them as a viable passive Hunter training method. Bird houses are intended to be good passive experience at lower levels and rewarding through bird nests at mid to high levels. As such, the XP rates remain unchanged. Many players within the community suggested making bird houses untradeable, forcing players to have an equivalent Crafting level to use the highest tiers. However, this does not address the issue. Rather than making an overpowered activity exclusive to the high level community, we would prefer to make it balanced and viable while leaving it available to all players. One of the key issues was that Redwood bird houses produced as many as 12 bird nests on average per run, requiring 89 Hunter while Yew bird houses produced only two fewer nests on average at 59 Hunter. For this reason, making bird houses untradeable would not make them balanced. Moreover, fixing the scaling of bird nests being produced is preferable to simply increasing the time bird houses take to fill as we prefer to avoid forcing a change how often players engage with the content. To achieve this, the overall number of nests received has been lowered. Rather than being determined solely by the tier of bird house being used, the number of nests received is now also influenced by your Hunter level. With 89 Hunter and using Redwood bird houses, you can now expect to receive 9.8 nests on average per run, with only a small number above that at 99. At level 5 Hunter using the regular bird houses, two bird nests will be received per run on average. Polled ChangesThe quantity of hop seeds gained from Master Farmers has been increased but frequency has been left the same.Herb seeds can now be used to fill bird houses, with seeds up to Ranarr providing one charge each. Ranarr seeds and above provide two charges each.

Energy TransferPlayers may no longer cast Energy Transfer on targets that have recently been in combat on PvP worlds.Granite MaulPlayers may no longer pre-queue a Granite maul special attack.

Spellbook Filters and Bounty Hunter Changes

Spellbook Filters and Bounty Hunter Changes

Originele tekst

This week sees the release of spellbook filters for desktop as well as some Bounty Hunter integrity changes.
AfbeeldingSpellbook Filters
Ever since 2013, players have been proposing that we add filters to the spellbook like RuneScape had around 2011, allowing them to hide/show different categories of spell. Following the recent major spell infrastructure rewrite (see here for all the technical details) we're now able to add this to the desktop game. Following the results of the recent poll, spell icons will not resize when filters are applied as they do on mobile.
Afbeelding
AfbeeldingBounty Hunter Integrity Changes
Afbeelding
As we continue to prepare for the larger scale Bounty Hunter rework, some overall Minigame integrity improvements as detailed in this blog have been made. Mysterious Emblems
  • To be able to receive a Mysterious emblem by killing your target, or as a drop from any player that is risking a Mysterious emblem, you must have one in your inventory. Killing any opponent without an emblem in your inventory will cause any emblems in the opponent's inventory to be lost.
  • Mysterious emblems now have a seven second timer before being destroyed. This is to prevent players destroying them mid combat to spite their opponents.
Afbeelding
Skipping Targets
  • Players may now only skip their targets if they haven't been in combat with them within the last 15 seconds.
  • Players may now skip their target for free and without adding to their total targets skipped if their current target is unskulled.
  • Players may now skip their target for free and without adding to their total targets skipped if their current target does not have a Mysterious emblem in their inventory.
These changes are intended to ensure players can find targets with a similar level of wealth risked without getting stuck waiting to be able to skip another target. Penalty TimerThe 2 minute timer that ticks down whenever a player leaves the Wilderness with a Bounty Hunter target will continue to tick down for an extra six seconds whenever the player re-enters the wilderness. This change should reduce players' ability to grief their target by making them wait for their target to be lost or skipped. Bounty Hunter OverlayThe overlay shown in the Wilderness in Bounty Hunter worlds can now be minimized by clicking on the arrow button on the bottom left of the overlay. On desktop only, it can be moved to the left/middle/right side of your screen by right clicking on the same arrow. To re-open the overlay simply click on the arrow again.
Afbeelding
AfbeeldingGeneral PvP Changes
Spec-tabbingPlayers may no longer teleport for a few seconds after using a special attack in PvP combat on PvP or Bounty Hunter worlds. This change should prevent players from unloading their special attack and teleporting away for no risk. Players are also prevented from teleporting while their special attack bar is activated on these worlds.

AfbeeldingIn Other News
  • The PvP rota is switching over to Period B.
  • A typo in the Herb sack description was fixed.
  • A floating tile in the Volcanic mine was removed.
  • Cutscenes in the Rum Deal quest are no longer partially covered by the chat box on mobile.
  • Runecrafting skill capes and max capes are now accepted as a substitute for Chaos tiara and talismans by the tunnel during What Lies Below.
  • Brine Rats now have a chance of dropping medium clue scrolls.
  • A typo in the Herblore skill guide was fixed.
  • The examine text on Giant vials in the house on the hill was fixed.
  • The recent restrictions on using Anglerfish and Energy Transfer have been applied to W45 DMM too.

Deadman Winter Finals: Permadeath Playthrough[/b]
Afbeelding
On Thursday 6th of December we'll be hosting a Beta playthrough of the final stages of the Deadman Winter Finals. This will be an open 'first-come first-served' playthrough to ensure that the world will be at capacity and that we get the best possible feedback.

Please Note: This is a Beta to test new functionality so some things may go wrong. We greatly appreciate your participation to make this Deadman Winter the best one yet.
Afbeelding
Key info for the playthrough:
  • The beta playthrough will take place on Thursday 6th December at 3pm GMT (10am EST).
  • The playthrough is going to be held on World 400.
  • The world will be accessible from 3pm GMT (10am EST) and you will be given 15 minutes to login and prepare.
  • The playthrough begins properly at 3:15pm GMT (10:15am EST).
  • The event is expected to last around 90 minutes but will run through to its completion.
  • The supply chests will not be included in the beta playthrough.
  • You will login and be given identical armours, weapons, food and stats.
Afbeelding
If you’re intending to take part we recommend revisiting the content changes for the Winter Finals. The standout changes we will be testing throughout are:
  • The final 1v1 section of the Finals will now include the last 256 surviving players of the Permadeath stage, rather than the previous top 126.
  • The deathly fog that appears before the 1v1 stage now moves every 5 minutes, rather than 6.
We will evenly split players between the two final areas: the Falador Statue and the Demonic Ruins in the Wilderness.

Players will be assigned to one of the above final area locations randomly once the Permadeath stage begins, with separate fog for each location.

The last surviving 128 players in each final area (256 players in total) will be transported to the Arenas. The arena structure is as follows:
  • Bracket 1: 256 | 128 Arenas
  • Bracket 2: 128 players | 64 Arenas
  • Bracket 3: 64 players | 32 Arenas
  • Bracket 4: 32 players | 16 Arenas
  • Bracket 5: 16 players | 8 Arenas
  • Bracket 6: 8 players | Quarter-final
  • Bracket 7: 4 players | Semi-final
  • Bracket 8: 2 players | Final

The Collection Log and Deadman Permadeath Beta

Originele tekst

This week sees the release of the highly anticipated Collection log, changes to the Deadman Mode Tournament ahead of its start on the 8th and various bugfixes.
AfbeeldingThe Collection Log
The Collection Log is a one stop shop for players to see which drops/pets/rewards they have obtained on their adventures from various bosses, raiding dungeons, minigames and general travels. Head upstairs in the Varrock museum and speak to The Collector to acquire the Collection Log. Alternatively, you can access it via the Achievement Gallery in your POH. If you'd prefer the log be made more accessible, let us know your suggestions as we're open to ideas for other places to access it from!
Afbeelding
Afbeelding
Note that each entry in the log is tracked by the item itself and is not exclusive to where it was obtained. For example, if you get a Dragon axe from the Wintertodt, it will also show up under the Dagannoth Kings, or if you get a godsword shard from KreeArra, it will also show up under General Graardor, Commander Zilyana and K'ril Tsutsaroth. What about items I have already earned? If you already have an untradeable item that can be displayed in the log, it will automatically be added. Tradeable items already earned will not be displayed automatically in the Collection Log. This means both regular and Iron players will also have to re-obtain any tradeable items they wish to be displayed in their log. This is because there are so many tradeable items in the log, with potential future additions to come, that it would become unfeasible to perform all the checks required for everything that an Iron player might already own.

Changes
Various changes have been made for the Deadman Winter 2018 tournament such as an updated and much larger 1v1 arena - this due to the increase in amount of players participating in the 1v1s from 128 to 256. Other changes to gameplay include an improved global drop table, the ability to use the looting bag everywhere, access to the revenant caves and the removal of PvP armours. For the full details of the changes, read this post.
Permadeath Playthrough
We'll be hosting a beta playthrough of the final stages of the Deadman Winter Finals later today, expected to last around ninety minutes. It's important to note that the purpose of the beta playthrough is to determine that the mechanics in-game work as expected, and it's not an opportunity to practise and refine your game plan. As such, we're opting to go ahead with the usual open first-come first-served policy to ensure that the world will be at capacity, allowing us to gather the best possible feedback.

The key details for getting involved are as follows:

  • The playthrough is going to be held on World 400.
  • The world will be accessible from 3pm GMT (10am EST) and you will be given 15 minutes to login and prepare.
  • The playthrough begins properly at 3:15pm GMT (10:15am EST).

Following feedback, the recently implemented teleblock after using a special attack in PvP has been changed. The teleblock now only occurs when a special attack has been used, rather than having the special attack bar highlighted - this now applies to both melee and ranged special attacks. In addition to this, now only special attacks used in PvP scenarios will have the teleblock applied, meaning players engaging in PvM will be able to teleport after using a special attack. This change applies to the Wilderness on normal worlds, or anywhere in PvP or Bounty Hunter worlds. Note that only special attacks which negatively affect your opponent trigger the teleblock. Special attacks from weapons such as Excalibur will not prevent the player from teleporting.Safe Zones on PvP WorldsWhen entering a safe zone in PvP Worlds while in combat with another player, you and your opponent will now be able to continue fighting for an extra 6 seconds while in the safe zone. Anti-spam Change to Rev Caves EntrancePlayers are now prevented from spamming the entrance/exit to the Revenant caves to avoid PKers. This applies to all game modes and will not be restricted to Deadman.
AfbeeldingExtra World Changes
As the player traffic stabilises from the Mobile launch, with most of the increased activity being on members' worlds, we've adjusted the numbers of members' and F2P worlds to give some more capacity for members. We'll likely need to continue adjusting that ratio in future. We've suggested some more worlds for the Wintertodt, so as to spread players out a little from the current crowded one. However there's no obligation to use the suggested worlds - players can use the Wintertodt on any members' world.
