Gather around and prepare yourself for a brand new game mode. After recently announcing Old School RuneScape Leagues, we want to now present to you the very first iteration of that mode: Twisted League.

In the Twisted League, you'll play an ironman (or ironwoman), locked to the Kourend and Kebos regions. Set out on an all new kind of challenge, thinking outside of the box while you attempt to unlock as many points as possible for relics and rewards. Set yourself apart from the rest, or just try out an exciting new way to play the game you love.

Old School RuneScape Twisted League will last for two months from the initial release date. Everyone participating in the league will start off as a fresh account on a separate game world. To customise your gameplay, you will be given the option to pick a relic from the very start. The more tasks you complete, the more points you get, and the more relics you can unlock.

Below is a sneak peek of the the Twisted League specifics. We recommend you expand each section fully.

Rules
Rules
Afbeelding
Old School RuneScape Twisted League will have some unique caveats to ensure the game mode is fair and enjoyable for everyone. Please note that these rules will only apply to the Twisted League itself.

Kourend and Kebos Locked
You will be restricted to the Kourend and Kebos regions only. Any successful attempt to escape from Kourend and Kebos will get you teleported back to the respawn point.
  • The respawn location is set to Kourend Castle
  • Ports aside from the one that takes you from one end of Kourend and Kebos to the other will not work
  • All teleports will only work if the destination is within Kourend and Kebos
  • The Ancient and Lunar spellbooks will not be accessible
  • All clues obtained will only have steps that can be completed within Kourend and Kebos
Ironman/Ironwoman Mode with Accelerated XP Rates
You will be set as an ironman or ironwoman upon account creation. This is not changeable.
  • No trading will take place between players
  • Shops will have increased supplies and accelerated restocking rates to accommodate the number of ironmen and ironwomen players on Kourend and Kebos
  • There will be accelerated XP rates throughout the entire league
Starting Stats
You will start out with a fresh account with the basic stats, besides the following to allow for the ability to do Barbarian Fishing and train Herblore:
  • Herblore: Level 3
  • Agility: Level 15
Quest Unlocks
In order to be able to obtain and wield certain items or level specific skills you will have the following quests unlocked:
  • Druidic Ritual
  • Dragon Slayer
  • Rune Mysteries
Slayer Unlocks
You can start Slayer from level 5 combat by speaking to Konar. She has a new Kourend and Kebos defined task list which includes some new tasks specific to the Twisted League. Her tasks will no longer have Area Restrictions but will still award Brimstone Keys.

Tasks
Tasks
Afbeelding

Tasks are a collection of goals and achievements which can be completed in the league. These tasks can be for various activities such as skilling, obtaining drops, killing creatures, completing quests or even playing minigames. Completion of a task will award a number of League Points which can be used to unlock relics and overall rewards. Points received for completing each task will be subject to balancing but will be based on the tier of the task. Tasks will range from Easy to Master tiers where Easy tasks are considered simple and Master tasks are considered to be extremely difficult achievements. Below is a list of some Twisted League tasks you can expect to see:

Skilling Tasks
  • Easy: Steal a golovanova fruit top
  • Medium: Enter the Woodcutting Guild
  • Hard: Cast Resurrect Crops
  • Elite: Check the health of a redwood tree
  • Master: Obtain a skilling pet
PvM Tasks
  • Easy: Complete a jelly task
  • Medium: 1 Skotizo kill
  • Hard: Equip a Dragon Warhammer
  • Elite: Complete 250 Chambers of Xeric runs
  • Master: Metamorphise the Olmlet
Other Tasks
  • Easy: Complete the Client of Kourend Quest
  • Medium: Complete the In Search of Knowledge miniquest
  • Hard: Plant 100 bologano seeds
  • Elite: Kourend and Kebos Elite Diary Tasks
  • Master: 2277 Total Level
Relics
Relics
Afbeelding
Relics are a leagues specific source of buffs with which you can customise your gameplay experience. Unlocked via League Points, these relics can be boosts in experience, buffs to combat prowess, additional luck on obtaining drops, or even buffs to specific skilling activities. Upon leaving Tutorial Island you will be presented with three relics to choose from without the need for points. This will allow you to choose which strategy you want to use in the league and give you incentive to strive for the next set of relic options. As you unlock more relic options, the buffs become more powerful. Below is a list of the first three Twisted Relics you will get to choose from when entering Kourend and Kebos.
Afbeelding
Abyssal Accumulator
  • You save 80% of your ammunition and runes.
Endless Endurance
  • Your run energy drain-rate is reduced to 0 and your prayer drains at half the speed.
Dark Altar Devotion
  • Bones dropped by creatures are automatically buried and award 4 times the experience. Ensouled heads now drop two at a time.
Note that numbers may be subject to balancing.

Rewards
Rewards
Afbeelding
Rewards will be tiered to ensure players that do participate are rewarded for the effort they put into the league. These unique rewards will be obtainable by placing in the following tiers:
TierThreshold

BronzeMinimum point threshold

IronTop 80%

SteelTop 60%

MithrilTop 40%

AdamantTop 20%

RuneTop 5%

DragonTop 1%
[/tabel]

Rewards gained will fall under two categories: League-to-League and Main Game.
League to League Rewards
These rewards will not be polled as they only affect the league specific worlds. They will be a way to show off how well you did in the previous league. These rewards will only appear in the league after the Twisted League. Below is a list of league-to-league reward suggestions.

League-to-League Pets
  • Any insured pets gained in the previous league will carry over to the next one.
  • You will still lose your pet if you die with it on a league world but Probita will temporarily set up shop in Kourend and Kebos so you can insure and reclaim your league-to-league pet for free.
League Right Click Icons
  • A unique symbol representing the tier you placed in at the end of the previous league will appear when a player right clicks you.
League Rank Worlds
  • Mithril, Adamant, and Rune league specific worlds will be accessible based on the tier you ranked in.
  • If you ranked in a higher tier, such as Dragon, you can use all of the rank worlds. Similarly, if you ranked in the Adamant tier, you can access both the Adamant and Mithril rank worlds.
League Armour Sets
  • Based on how you placed in the league you will be awarded an armour set that can be used in the next one.
  • This armour set will be a basic starter set of armour and a weapon with varying stats that can assist in the early gameplay of the following league.
Main Game Rewards
Your league points will transfer to the main game as currency to spend in a league reward store. These rewards will be polled as they carry over to the main game. As we want rewards to be accessible to all participants we will determine the cost of these rewards once we can predict how many points players will finish with. All main game rewards will be cosmetic and tradeable unless otherwise stated. The list of rewards to be polled is below:

Cosmetic Twisted League Outfit
Afbeelding
  • 3 tiers of cosmetic outfit with no stats
  • Each tier will cost exponentially more points
  • Tradeable and storable in the PoH
  • Outfit will represent the Twisted League
Poll Question #1
Should the Twisted League offer cosmetic armour rewards as described in the blog? This will consist of three tiers of cosmetic outfits that represent the league.
Twisted League Themed Banner

  • Similar to Kourend house banners but themed around the Twisted League
  • Held in the main-hand slot
  • Costs a relatively low amount of points
Poll Question #2

Twisted League Slayer Helm Recolour

  • Twisted horns which can be used on a Slayer helm to turn it into a Twisted League themed helm
  • Will require 1000 Slayer points to unlock the recolour to be consistent with all the other Slayer helms
  • Twisted horns will be tradeable but the helm, once recoloured, will not
  • Twisted horns can be removed from the helm
  • This will cost a medium amount of points
Poll Question #3
Should the Twisted League offer a Twisted League Slayer Helm recolour reward as described in the blog? The recolour will require 1000 Slayer points to unlock to be consistent with the other Slayer helm recolours.
Twisted League Home Teleport Animation
Afbeelding
  • A scroll that changes the home teleport animation to have the player draw a black/green circle on the ground. When teleporting away a Xerician symbol appears under them
  • Scroll will be tradeable but consumed once used
  • This will cost a medium amount of points
Poll Question #4
Should the Twisted League offer a Twisted League Home Teleport Animation reward as described in the blog? This will be similar to the default home teleport animation but the player will draw a black/green circle on the ground. When teleporting away a Xerician symbol appears under them.
Twisted League Themed PoH Wallkit
Afbeelding
  • A scroll, once taken to an Estate Agent, will unlock the ability to have a league themed PoH
  • Scroll will be tradeable
  • Scroll will be returned when changing PoH wallkit style to something else
  • This will cost a high amount of points
Poll Question #5
Should the Twisted League offer a Twisted League Themed PoH wallkit reward as described in the blog?
Twisted Ancestral Robes Ornament Kit
Afbeelding
  • An attachment to the Ancestral Robes which can be used to turn them into a White/Green/Black version
  • Attachment can be removed from the robes

  • Ornament kit is tradeable but the recoloured robes are not
  • This will cost a high amount of points
Poll Question #6
Should the Twisted League offer a Twisted League Ancestral Robes Ornament Kit reward as described in the blog?
Cosmetic Twisted League Trophy
Afbeelding
  • A cosmetic wieldable trophy that represents which tier you placed in
  • Can only be claimed by players who attained the specific tier rank in the league
  • Unlike the other rewards, this will not be tradeable
  • Storable in the PoH
  • Held in the off-hand slot (aside from Dragon, Rune and Adamant which are 2H)
  • Has a unique emote that is accessed by right clicking the trophy
  • Will not cost any points to purchase
Poll Question #7
Should the Twisted League offer cosmetic Twisted League trophy rewards as described in the blog? This trophy will represent the tier you place in and will be untradeable.
FAQ
FAQ
Afbeelding
Q: I am more of a casual player and can't really dedicate that much time to the league. Can I still get rewards?
A: We want rewards to be accessible to both the competitive and casual players. That is why alongside hiscores, we have a tiered reward structure that will cater to all types of players.

Q: Do I have to start over?
A: As this is on a new game mode, stats will start off fresh. However, with Twisted League we know the grind at the start can be rather frustrating, which is why we will have accelerated XP rates and an unlockable relic at the very start of your league adventure.

Q: Do I need to make a new account to play leagues?
A: You are more than welcome to use any existing accounts you have created. You will not be able to play both Old School and Twisted League on the same account at the same time.

Q: How long will a league last?
A: Each league will differ on how long it stays open based on the type of league it is and how previous leagues go. The Twisted League itself, however, will last two months from the release date. Stay tuned for the release date announcement!

Q: Why are you working on this and not Group Ironman or Account Security?
A: Leagues is all content work whereas Clans and Group Ironman require some platform work and Account Security falls under an umbrella of different teams such as technical services. We can offer Leagues now, whereas we can't do that with updates that require input from other departments. We know there is an appetite for Group Ironman and Account Security and we are keen to offer you updates when we can.

Q: Will this replace Deadman or other Competitive Gaming Updates/Events?
A: Leagues are not replacing Deadman. We have a new Head of Esports that is currently working on ideas for competitive gaming updates for Old School RuneScape. The moment we know more about that we will let you all know.

Q: If I don't compete in this league will I still be able to get the Twisted League rewards in the next league?
A: You will be able to obtain league rewards from previous leagues using the points you earned. Some of the rewards are also being polled as tradeable so if you don't want to wait until the next league you can always try your luck at buying one. We will not make discontinued rewards with leagues.

We appreciate the feedback and questions we have received thus far and encourage you to continue discussions with us. Stay tuned in the coming weeks for more information regarding Twisted Leagues and a poll date for the rewards.

She has provided happiness, humour, and positivity via her self-proclaimed "silly little comics" for many years, but her efforts are so much more than that.

Prezleek has contributed her work to charity initiatives that have raised huge amounts for amazing causes, and she's helped give confidence to countless budding artists - via collaborations, starting an artists' Discord server, and providing support and encouragement to anyone wanting guidance on their art.

Prezleek epitomises everything that is great about our communities: selflessness, creativity, and the spreading of joy.

A big congratulations to all of the winners!

Capital of the vampyres and home of Castle Drakan, Darkmeyer has stood for centuries as an imposing and impenetrable blight on Morytania. Within its dark stone walls you will find a multitude of new shops, amenities, and skilling methods.

The Vampyres
AfbeeldingAfbeelding
Images are WIP and subject to change.
The city of Darkmeyer is split into three tiers, each home to a different class of vampire. The first tier contains vampyre juveniles and vampyre juvinates. These are equivalent to the vampyres found in Meiyerditch and have the same stats and droptables. The second tier contains Vyrewatch, Elite Vyrewatch, vyrelords and vyreladies. The Vyrewatch are the same as those found in Slepe and have identical stats and droptables. The third tier contains Elite Vyrewatch, vyrelords and vyreladies.

Pickpocketing Vyrelords and Vyreladies

The vyrelords and vyreladies found through the second and third tiers of the city are not attackable but can be spoken to and pickpocketed. Pickpocketing them requires 60 Thieving and rolls on a new loot table which includes the unique Blood Shard. A Blood Shard is an attachment to the Amulet of Torture that passively saps the life from your opponent while doing melee damage and gives a small percentage of health back to the player.

Killing Elite Vyrewatch

The Elite Vyrewatch are more powerful versions of the normal Vyrewatch. They can be killed for an improved loot table, which includes the Blood Shard, and can count towards vampyre slayer tasks. Vampyres will also be included in two new Slayer unlocks which will extend vampyre tasks and allow them to be assigned by higher tier Slayer masters.

Spoiler warning! Click here to see more information about the Essence Mine
Essence Mine and Raw Daeyalt Deposits

For many years, Darkmeyer was home to a mysterious power. The presence of this power caused the mineral deposits in the area to change, creating daeyalt and pure essence deposits. Within Darkmeyer's mine, players can mine raw daeyalt if they have at least 75 Mining. Only one deposit will be active at a time. The active deposit can be mined to obtain stackable and untradeable daeyalt shards that can be converted to into untradeable daeyalt essence with an NPC located in the mine. Daeyalt essence can be used anywhere that pure essence can (provided the player has at least 50 Runecraft). Using daeyalt essence will give 50% more Runecraft XP than pure essence. Note: Training Runecraft through this method including the mining time will not be better than training it through the traditional methods.

Before the vampyres came to Morytania, the region was known as Hallowvale and was ruled over by the Icyene queen, Efaritay Hallow. Efaritay ruled the region from the capital city in the south east, a city which later became the two cities of Darkmeyer and Meiyerditch once the vampyres took over. With the exception of the royal family, who had their own private graveyard, most citizens of Hallowvale were buried in a great crypt known as the Hallowed Sepulchre. To protect the sepulchre from grave robbers, it was built with various traps and other defence mechanisms. However, that hasn't stopped some from trying to raid the crypt. A group of unknown individuals are particularly interested in recovering any of Hallowvale's old currency, Hallowed Marks, from the sepulchre. To help them with this, they are willing to reward anyone who obtains some of these Hallowed Marks for them.

Once a player enters the sepulchre, they will be given a limited amount of time to raid the crypt. The crypt will be filled with tombs that players can search to steal items from. Items will be randomly chosen from a new loot table, with a rare chance of obtaining a Hallowed Mark. Players will also earn Agility experience for avoiding the various traps in the area, as well as getting a bonus amount of experience whenever a tomb is looted.

The sepulchre is made up of five levels, each requiring a higher Agility level to access. Similar to Pyramid Plunder, players access the next level via the previous one. The Agility requirements are:
  • Level 1: 52 Agility
  • Level 2: 62 Agility
  • Level 3: 72 Agility
  • Level 4: 82 Agility
  • Level 5: 92 Agility
AfbeeldingThe Nightmare of Ashihama
Afbeelding
Far to the east, there's an island called Ashihama which is home to a group of sirens. For a long time now the isle has been plagued by nightmare. The dreams of these sirens have been stolen, feasted upon, and destroyed by a force beyond all reckoning. A brave siren named Shura took action, forming a group to defeat the creature in its own lair, but somehow, it escaped across the ocean to Morytania. Drawn to Slepe and its resident sleeper plague, the Nightmare has become the latest in a long line of terrors to stalk the dark corners of this land.

But not all is lost. Although the creature's power has grown beyond what Shura and her sirens can handle, they have put out a call for brave adventurers to face The Nightmare and hopefully defeat it once and for all. Journey to the Sisterhood Sanctuary in Slepe to take on the challenge and whatever you do, don't fall asleep.

Aimed at small to large groups, this new group boss will have a similar play style to Corporeal Beast and be both challenging and accessible. The Nightmare is expected to be released earlier than the Sins of the Father and Darkmeyer city.

We want to run a player design competition to come up with new rewards for The Nightmare. Let your imagination run wild and send us your reward suggestions to the oldschoolcommunity@jagex.com mailbox with your RSN and the subject "The Nightmare" so we can sort through them. We will then share our favourite player designed rewards and our reward suggestions in a future blog.

We intend to poll everything in this blog following your feedback. Please make sure you have expanded the various sections to see all of the information in the blog. Your feedback is invaluable to us, and as such we invite you to be vocal about sharing it with us. Your comments will help us finalise the Morytania Expansion design.

OSRS Reveals: 2019Afbeelding
This year's RuneFest was perhaps the greatest yet. We'd like to thank the players who attended, everybody who watched the livestream, and all those who followed the event on social media.

This blog covers the three main content reveals: the Morytania Expansion, the Clan System, and Group Ironman.

You're also invited to share your feedback and suggestions. Your input will shape how the content looks when it is released!

Infiltrate the city of Darkmeyer, permeate vampyric high society and create a new weapon to defeat a terrifying threat to the citizens of Morytania in the latest instalment of the Myreque quest series: Sins of the Father. If that wasn't enough to rattle your bones, you'll soon be able to team up with fellow players to take on a dark force beneath Slepe known only as The Nightmare.

Click here to learn about the Clan System
Clan SystemAfbeelding
Clans have been an integral part of RuneScape since the game's release. There are clans older than some of our players. Some clans are older than some members of the Old School team!

They're the backbone of the community, and they've existed in Old School RuneScape without any official support. This year, we're going to change that.
We asked some clan leaders to share their insight and the passion they have for their clans.
A substantial amount of technical work needs to be completed before development of the game content can begin. With this in mind, we aren't offering a specific release date beyond aiming for 2020.

Here are some of the features we'd like to offer:
  • New clan ranks and permissions. You'll be able to customise access to the chat channels, and organise your clan structure according to your liking.
  • More chat channels. You'll be able to remain in your clan's chat channel whilst guesting in another clan, and staying in contact with your friends in your friend's chat channel.
  • Up to 500 clan members. There's strength in numbers. The clan system will offer more channel members than the existing friend chat.
  • Clan-wide K/D counters. Identify the strongest (and weakest...) among you.
  • Customisable recruitment boards. Advertise and grow your clan with greater ease than ever before.
  • Clan noticeboards. Share key information with your clan members in one central location.
  • Clan broadcast messages. Communicate with your clan in-game, and rally the troops with a moment's notice.
  • Link your clan Discord server. No more bypassing the chat filter to share your clan's server information.
We want to use the time between today's announcement and the release to talk with players and define a clan system that works for you. You're the experts, and we want to learn from your feedback and suggestions.

Attention clan leaders! We want your knowledge. In return for your expertise we'll fly you to Cambridge, home of the Jagex HQ. Apply for a chance to bring your experience to the place where Old School RuneScape is made.

Click here to learn about Group Ironman
Group IronmanAfbeelding
There are some players who seek to earn everything alone. These individuals are brave, committed, and fearless. They have hearts of iron and the will of a thousand souls. They go by many names, but most know them simply as Ironmen... by the way.

Ironman and Ultimate Ironman were released on October 13th 2014. It was a groundbreaking moment, influenced by player-made modes of playing. Hardcore Ironman was released on November 10th 2016, and brought with it amazing achievements, lots of close calls, and countless tragic deaths.

The next development of Ironman will allow fearless heroes to fight alongside each other... with the release of Group Ironman.

What is Group Ironman?

As a fresh Group Ironman you'll be able to join a group of two to five players. You and your group will earn your items and supplies together, without trading with any other players.

Everyone will be on a fresh playing field with the release of Group Ironman. Four different HiScore races will begin at once! Each group size will have their own HiScores table.

If you've chosen to be a Group Ironman you'll be placed in a penned off area upon completion of the tutorial. Here, similar to Barbarian Assault, you'll find other potential members of your group.

The more people there are, the easier it is to gather items and achieve goals. Your group can always increase in size (up to five players), but cannot decrease. We don't want players to gain an advantage with a bigger group and then move down to a more competitive bracket.

With the proposed clan system, each group will have their own secure chat channel separate from the existing channels.

Each group will have a group leader. The group leader will have the power to initiate a vote to remove someone from the group. In the event of a tie, the group leader will decide the outcome. If you are removed from the group you will remain a Group Ironman but will have to recruit more members to your own newly-formed group.

Why should you play Group Ironman?

A lot of you have told us that you'd love to play with your group of friends! The game mode lends itself to a whole host of new strategies which aren't possible in any of the other Ironman modes.

Delegate the workload. One person can be the potionmaster of the group, another can craft all the jewellery, someone else can train Slayer to obtain powerful weapons, all while somebody else is cooking food for the group!
AfbeeldingYour Feedback
What rewards should the Nightmare yield? What should the clan system look like? Are we overlooking any features for Group Ironman? Have your say.

Bounty Hunter Rework Beta

Originele tekst

This week sees the release of the Bounty Hunter rework beta. The Bounty Hunter rework has been long-awaited, and to ensure its launch is as smooth as possible we'll be operating a beta period to allow you to test it.
AfbeeldingBounty Hunter Rework Beta
The Bounty Hunter rework beta is now live! The Bounty Hunter rework was announced at previous RuneFest events, and we're pleased to finally offer the content to you. The key main changes are summarised and categorised below, but if you'd like as in-depth look at the mechanics (as described in the initial design blog) then please revisit the original design blog from August (though do note that some of the concepts differ from the update, following your feedback). It's important to note that whilst this beta is live, you'll be unable to access Bounty Hunter (in its 'current' pre-rework state). We've also made changes to existing mysterious emblems. See below for summaries of the key changes!Points and KillstreaksBounty points are now awarded for killing targets. Killing multiple targets in a row begins a killstreak, which awards more points. Bonus points are awarded for every X target kill as per this table:
Afbeelding
These points are designed to replace the ones previously earned in the minigame for spending at the Emblem Trader's rewards shop. If you have old points/emblems leftover, you'll still be able to use them - more on that later!Player Bounties
Afbeelding
Completing bounty tasks will award 10 points immediately. Your tasks will cycle every 30 minutes, and only one may be completed within that time. Unwanted bounties may be skipped up to three times per day. The potential bounty tasks you may receive are:
  • Kill two targets without leaving, or going below level 1 Wilderness
  • Kill your target using Ranged/Melee/Magic on the last hit
  • Kill your target while risking 250,000 GP (in coins/platinum tokens only)
  • Kill your target without using any prayers
  • Kill your target without using a special attack
  • Kill your target without using Protect Item
  • Kill your target without any stat boosts
If you have ideas for new tasks or think of some while playing the beta, please include them in your feedback! Remember, we are unable to implement any tasks that require specific equipment.Updated InterfaceThe collapsible BH interface has been updated and shows:
  • Your target's display name
  • Their Wilderness level range
  • Whether they are in a multi-combat zone
  • The highest tier emblem they are carrying
  • Your eligibility for an emblem upgrade
  • A button to see your current task
  • The time remaining on your task
  • A button to get a new task

Mysterious Emblems
Afbeelding
The old mysterious emblems have grown weathered and worn, transforming into archaic versions. These can still be traded for points at the older version of the Bounty Hunter store. In the original blog, we mentioned allowing players to trade them in for a flat rate of 2,000,000 GP to prevent them from crashing in value. Since then, the active trading price has increased to well above 2,000,000 GP so this has not been necessary.New mysterious emblems can be bought and sold at the Emblem Trader and will allow you to earn some extra gold while playing the minigame. The new interface will tell you when your target has an emblem of an equal or higher tier than yours, making you eligible for an upgrade which doubles your emblem's value. If you are not eligible, it will allow you to skip your target without a penalty. Tier 1 emblems may be bought or sold at the Emblem Trader for 75,000 GP. Each tier costs twice as much as the last, going up to tier 5 at 1,200,000 GP. The decorative T10 emblem can be purchased from the trader for 100 of the new BH points.
AfbeeldingThe new emblem exchange interface - tier 5 emblems cannot be bought - only sold after a tier 4 emblem has been upgraded.
Other Changes
  • A minimum of 30 combat is now required to receive targets in the minigame.
  • You no longer have to wait six minutes to get a new target after dying to a previous one.
  • After killing your BH target, no player may attack you for 20 seconds. This immunity vanishes if you attack another player.
  • The Teleport to Target spell teleports you to the dangerous side by default, rather than the safe zone, if your target is in level 1 Wilderness.
The current Bounty Hunter minigame in the live version will be inaccessible during the beta as both versions cannot exist simultaneously.RewardsThe rewards that passed the Bounty Hunter rewards poll, the Dagon'hai set and Godsword animation recolours, will be added to Larran's chest and the BH rewards shop respectively with the full launch of the minigame rework in a few weeks.

The Rune Pouch and Looting Bag
Afbeelding
In the rewards poll blog we mentioned that we'd like to make both the Rune pouch and the Looting bag tradeable. We had opted to do this following your feedback that players would no longer be able to indirectly purchase Rune pouches using GP following changes to the mysterious emblems (as they're able to do now).In the rewards poll itself we asked you whether it should be possible to own multiple Rune pouches or Looting bags. Both polls failed (74.7% and 74.3% respectively). We've made a glaring oversight. By allowing the Rune pouch and Looting bag to be tradeable, the ability to own multiple versions would occur by default. The results of the poll contradict what we said we'd like to do. Which leaves us in a tough spot (entirely of our own accord). We identified some potential options, and we've opted to do the following: we'll poll making the Rune pouch and Looting bag tradeable (and thus being able to own multiple versions) in the poll which follows the upcoming Twisted Leagues poll. The outcome of that poll would supersede the previous poll questions. We appreciate that it's not ideal, and we apologise firstly for the inconvenience, and secondly for not giving the design of the poll its due diligence. In the meantime (until the aforementioned poll), Rune pouches are obtainable only via the Slayer reward shop, or the Bounty Hunter reward shop. We would also like to offer the Rune pouch to come from other thematically fitting content, like the Mage Training Arena, in the future. If the community prefers they remain untradeable, this can be made a higher priority to restore some of the item's accessibility. Frequently Asked QuestionsWe know it's a rather sizeable change to an established system, not just in terms of mechanics, but also how rewards and other associated content is affected too. We've prepared an FAQ to try and answer questions we expect to see asked. Throughout the release of the beta we'll continue to monitor the release and update the FAQ accordingly. Click here to see the FAQWhat will happen to my existing mysterious emblems?Mysterious emblems from the old version of the minigame will transform into 'archaic emblems'. These will have a different appearance and will not be available in any other way. They can still be cashed in for the old Bounty Hunter points at the Emblem Trader. They cannot be traded to other players or sold to the Emblem Trader for GP.Will I have access to the old Bounty Hunter shop?If you have any old Bounty Hunter points remaining, you will be able to access the old shop via the Emblem Trader. This shop will stay open for a while, but eventually we'll phase it out to avoid some accounts having 'discontinued' emblems. Will the new shop have all the items from the previous one?Yes, all items will be re-costed to match the scale of the new points system. The exact prices are still subject to balancing. How will Ironmen access items that only come from the BH shop? The ring of wealth and magic shortbow upgrade scrolls are important for Ironmen. It's not fair to expect Ironmen to participate in Bounty Hunter just to access these items so we currently considering where else they might be made available. One option is to add them as a rare drop to the Wilderness Slayer loot table. Let us know in your feedback where you think they belong. Will the minigame receive unique rewards in the future? We would like to add more rewards as an incentive to play the minigame. We are currently discussing the way PvP content is introduced following concerns about the PvP community being underserved by the polling system. Any potential change to the way we add content requires serious consideration and clear communication with the community. Because of this, additional rewards are unlikely to be ready for the full launch. Other QuestionsIf you have any other questions about the rework, feel free to Tweet @JagexGambit on Twitter, or leave discussion points on the game update threads on Twitter and Reddit. If the same queries arise consistently, this FAQ will be updated with the relevant information.Your Feedback

Bounty Hunter Rework Beta: Day 1 Feedback

Bounty Hunter Rework Beta: Day 1 Feedback

Originele tekst

AfbeeldingBH Rework Beta Feedback
Yesterday we launched the Bounty Hunter rework beta and players immediately poured in to test the changes. A big thank you to everyone who has already tried the beta or is currently testing it. We have already gathered key feedback points, some of which require input from the wider PvP community. Bounty Tasks Initial feedback has been that the tasks are too demanding for the points they give. Let us know what you think of the following suggestions:
  • Increasing the number of points awarded
  • Reducing the cooldown of the task timer to 20 minutes
We're also aware that there aren't many different tasks available, so please let us know any ideas for tasks that you have! Bear in mind that we cannot add any that require you to equip or use specific items.Gearing up in the BetaIn the beta, you can set your stats and access to all the gear you might want to use to kill another player. This variety gives us the widest possible range of setups for testing purposes. On the other hand, it means players are using maxed gear setups that you wouldn't typically find in Bounty Hunter. To get the best of both, you will continue to have access to all stats and gear until next week's update. After that, you will be restricted to the presets that we have added. These have been designed to represent the setups you would likely use in the live game. After this, we expect to get more feedback on the changes to the gameplay mechanics themselves. Let us know if you would like additional presets added and include the stats, equipped items, and inventory in your feedback. Our ability to add presets is limited so we'll prioritise the ones that represent the most common PvP player styles. The New Mysterious EmblemsWe've seen feedback on these is saying that they do not stack in the bank. This is intentional as there is no need to hoard them.Archaic EmblemsSome players would like these to be notable for easy points redemption in bulk. This is not possible without making them tradeable, which would be inappropriate as they will be discontinued items until the old Bounty Hunter shop is removed.Instead we will try to allow the Emblem Trader to convert the ones in your bank. This will take some time and is not expected for next week's update.Other players were caught off guard by Archaic emblems being removed from the Wilderness Slayer loot table. They have been re-added for now, since the beta does not otherwise affect the live game, but will be removed at full launch.
AfbeeldingNon-BH Specific Feedback
The Rune PouchThere is no clear consensus on how much the rune pouch should cost in the Slayer reward points shop so this question will be in the next available poll. We also mentioned offering the pouch elsewhere, like the Mage Training Arena. This would be polled and its existence there would be in addition to the current places it is available. Ring of Wealth, Magic Shortbow & Clue BoxesFollowing feedback, we would like to poll making these available as rare loot from Larran's chest. They would remain in the Bounty Hunter shop, but this would offer an alternate way to obtain them while adding some value to Wilderness Slayer.
AfbeeldingYour Thoughts
Your input will be crucial in shaping the Bounty Hunter rework from its current form in the beta to the final minigame rework. Let us know what you think of the above (additional task suggestions in particular) as well as anything else! Feel free to discuss this post on this Reddit thread, Twitter thread, and the #bounty-hunter channel in the community-led Old School Discord server.

Bounty Hunter Beta Feedback Changes

Bounty Hunter Beta Feedback Changes

Originele tekst

AfbeeldingBH Beta Feedback Changes
It's been almost a week since the Bounty Hunter rework Beta opened. We've received lots of feedback and we're ready to make improvements to the minigame design, and to the Beta itself. Here's a look at the changes coming this week, and further tweaks on the way later down the line. The Equipment ChestTo make the Beta a more accurate replica of Bounty Hunter, we're limiting the items available from the equipment chest to ones commonly used when PKing - no more running around with Elys and Scythes!
Afbeelding
For faster gearing up, we encourage you to use the builds found in the Load-Out section. We'll also remove the option to customise your stats to prevent bypassing Prayer or equipment requirements.
Afbeelding
The Points SystemThe main feedback we have received so far is that the system is not rewarding enough. To improve upon this, kills will award 3 points by default, increasing to 4 and5 once you reach killstreaks of 3 and 10 (previously 1 by default, increasing to 2 and 3).Adjusting the curve in this way should make the minigame more rewarding both for newer PKers who get fewer kills and for everyone overall. The Rewards ShopItems in the Emblem Trader's shop will be rebalanced according to the new points system. They have been balanced according to High Alch value or Grand Exchange price (whichever was more appropriate for each item), assuming a rate of 20,000GP per Bounty Hunter point.
Afbeelding
The exception to this rule is the cost of the Rune pouch, which may be adjusted depending on potential future changes such as becoming available elsewhere, becoming tradable, and having its price reduced in the Slayer points reward shop.
AfbeeldingNon-BH Specific Feedback
The Rune Pouch and Looting Bag
Afbeelding
Players have correctly pointed out that if you don't have the Old Bounty Hunter points stored, the Rune pouch cannot be accessed from that shop. At the moment, this means getting enough Archaic emblems from Wilderness Slayer to buy a new one. We would like to add a temporary alternative while the Beta is running.Slayer masters will sell you a Rune pouch for 1,500,000 GP. This is a temporary measure to allow players access to the item for the duration of the Beta. The originalplan was to have the item available from Krystillia (who is close to the Emblem Trader) but Slayer masters share the same shop and we don't see any harm in it being accessible elsewhere during this temporary measure. In the next available poll, we would like to offer making it tradeable, decreasing its cost in the Slayer Points Reward Shop, and adding it to other activities (likely Last Man Standing and the Mage Training Arena).Similarly, the Looting bag will be temporarily available in the Slayer Master shop for 30,000 GP. Just like the Rune pouch, this will be removed when the Beta closes. Wilderness Slayer
Afbeelding
Many of you have voiced concerns about the profitability of Wilderness Slayer once Archaic emblems are removed from its loot table at the end of the Beta. Rest assuredthat we don't want any changes to leave the activity in a worse state. Dagon'hai robes are still being added to the chest as well as Clue Boxes mentioned below. We would like to see the effects of these changes on Wilderness Slayer before making any other adjustments. If the activity is still negatively impacted afterwards, we will look to rebalance it. This could mean adjusting the drop rate of Larran's keys, improving the Larran's chest loot table, or adding a drop to replace the Archaic emblems. Ring of Wealth and Magic Shortbow Upgrade Scrolls
Afbeelding
To alleviate the concerns of certain restricted accounts, these two upgrade scrolls will be added to the Wilderness Slayer loot table. They will also remain in the Bounty Hunter rewards shop. The roll that normally provides a Slayer's enchantment scroll (used to enchant the Slayer staff) would become a roll that has a 3/6 chance to give the Slayer's enchantment, 2/6 for the Ring of Wealth and 1/6 for the Magic shortbow scroll. Clue Boxes
Afbeelding
Similar to the scrolls, there are (fair) calls for Clue Boxes to be obtainable elsewhere in addition to the Bounty Hunter rewards shop. We would like to add these as an additional roll from the Larran's chest found in the lower part of the Wilderness. Three or four may be given at a time so that this roll would be adequately rewarding.
AfbeeldingFuture Changes
Player BountiesWe've heard consistently from feedback that the tasks need to be more rewarding and varied. To achieve this, we could make the tasks cycle more frequently than every 30 minutes. This could be changed to 20 or 15 minutes - let us know where you think the right balance is between having enough time to complete them and having frequent enough cycling is. To increase the variety of tasks, we'd like to add more of them. Our thanks go to the players who suggested the following tasks:
  • Kill your target while having no body armour equipped.
  • Kill your target while having no leg armour equipped.
  • Kill your target with residual damage (Vengeance, Ring of Recoil, Poison, Venom or Redemption).
  • Kill your target without the use of stat-boosting Prayers.
  • Reduce your opponent's Prayer points to zero using the Smite Prayer.
  • Kill your target without using stat boosts - this can be changed to 'without the use of super potions' to be less restrictive.
  • Kill your target without using Prayer - this can be changed to 'without the use of overhead Prayers'
Further ideas for tasks are still welcome! We would also like to tweak the following existing tasks: Bounty HotspotsTo increase the variety of the game mode and introduce a high-risk, high-reward element, we're exploring a design idea for a hotspot system. This would involve selected locations in the Wilderness being selected (one at a time on rotation) as areas that provide bonus rewards.Rewards for killing targets in the hotspot could include bonuses to points earned and the rate at which emblems are upgraded. Hotspots could have elements of an earning-potential system whereby your rewards multiply based on your current killstreak. We're also working with the community on additional mechanics to make the gameplay more exciting and are open to all design ideas! Let us know what you think of the idea or send us your own on these Twitter and Reddit threads as well as the official forums.

The Halloween 2019 Event and BH Beta Changes

The week sees the release of the Halloween 2019 holiday event and changes to the Bounty Hunter rework beta.

Spooktober is here, which means it's time for the annual Halloween event! As you travel north of Lumbridge, you might notice that a player has been trapped by what appears to be two goblins wearing bedsheets. If you're feeling brave enough, why not see what you can do to help? This year's event unlocks brand new cosmetics as well as all previous Halloween rewards and music if you don't have them already. As always, the event it available to members and free players, and doesn't have any requirements. To begin, head to the chicken pen just north of Lumbridge, indicated by the Halloween icon and highlighted in the map below:

Some Words From The Developer:This year's Halloween event is my first project on the Old School team. It has been an incredible experience learning how Old School is built and actually designing my own piece of content. Before I started the design work for this I asked myself why I started playing RuneScape back in 2006. I wanted the update to feel similar to events and quests I experienced when I was younger, while adding my own personality, and showing some of what you can expect from me in the future.I'm currently working on Leagues, which I have been very passionate about since I joined the team. I believe this update will bring a breath of fresh air to the game, while still honouring its roots. We now have endless opportunities to challenge your theory crafting, game knowledge and mechanical skills in interesting ways.I hope you enjoy this year's Halloween event and its rewards. I am incredibly proud and grateful to be creating content for this game and its community.~ Mod Flippy
AfbeeldingBounty Hunter Rework Feedback
Afbeelding
Last week we opened the Bounty Hunter Rework Beta. Since then, we've had loads of feedback and suggestions which we've started working on. This week's changes are designed to address three key points:
  • The minigame needs to be more rewarding.
  • The Beta doesn't accurately represent the real Bounty Hunter minigame.
  • Loose ends caused by the rework.
We'd like to thank all the players who have played the Beta and given suggestions. We're also grateful for the patience of Bounty Hunter players while the live minigame is paused. With your continued feedback, we're confident we can get the Beta where it needs to be!The Points SystemThe main feedback we received was that the new points system is not rewarding enough. To improve this, 3 points will now be awarded per kill, increasing to 4 and 5 when you begin a killstreak of 5 and 10. This scale was previously at 1, 2 and 3 points. This may still be adjusted further if needed.Player BountiesWe would also like to make the tasks more rewarding by increasing how quickly they cycle and the points they award. We also have feedback changes to make to tweak the existing tasks and add new ones. These can be expected in an upcoming update.Gear Chest, Presets and StatsWe've also made some changes to make the Beta a better simulation of Bounty Hunter in the live game:
  • Items in the chest have been limited to ones you're more likely to find players using in the minigame. It also includes the Ornate Maul Handle.
  • The pre-built loadouts which are accessible via the chest have been made more realistic.
  • You can no longer customise your stats at the chest. Instead, we encourage you to use the pre-built setups mentioned above.
Afbeelding
Special Attack Pool and Spellbook SwitchingThe energy pool and Prayer altar for changing spellbooks have been moved out of the Bank to be more accessible. Emblem Trader's Rewards ShopAll items in the Rewards Shop have been re-costed according to the new points system. The exception is the rune pouch which is dependent on the results of an upcoming poll to make it tradeable, reduce its cost in the Slayer points reward shop, and add it as a reward for other content.
Afbeelding
Rune Pouches and Looting Bags
Afbeelding
Because these items will be unavailable from the Bounty Hunter Rewards Shop for the duration of the Beta, we've made them accessible elsewhere. Slayer Masters now sell the rune pouch (to non-Ironmen only) for 1,500,000 GP and the looting bag for 30,000 GP. This is a temporary fix and will be reverted at the end of the Beta.
Afbeelding
On the topic of the looting bag, we're adjusting its drop rate from NPCs in the Wilderness. Previously NPCs always had a 1/30 chance to drop the looting bag. Now, this chance scales with the combat level of the NPC. You can expect to get a looting bag from a level 50 NPC at a rate of 1/6 and from a level 100 NPC at a rate of 1/3.Ring of Wealth and Magic Shortbow Upgrade Scrolls
Afbeelding
To alleviate the concerns of certain restricted accounts, these two upgrade scrolls have been added to the Wilderness Slayer loot table. They also remain in the Bounty Hunter rewards shop. The roll that normally provides a Slayer's enchantment scroll (used to enchant the Slayer staff) is now a roll that has a 3/6 chance to give the Slayer's enchantment, 2/6 to give the Ring of Wealth and 1/6 to give the magic shortbow scroll. We also want to make Clue Boxes accessible elsewhere - likely the Larran's chest in the lower part of the Wilderness, however there wasn't time to include it in this week's update.
AfbeeldingDagon'hai Robes
Afbeelding
The Dagon'hai Robe set has been added to Larran's chest as a very rare reward. When opening the chest, you have a 1/256 chance to receive each piece. The stats can be seen below:
Afbeelding
AfbeeldingIn Other News
  • Following last week's change to Teleport Block, some more spells have been updated so that the game won't offer to cast them on NPCs if they can be cast only on other players, or vice versa.
  • Items now correctly appear on the ground if dropped at the top of the steps from Dorgesh-Kaan to the Agility area.
  • Some small pieces of scenery have been mapped down just outside the Lumbridge Castle bank. These help the game navigate you correctly if you click on the bankers while inside the bank. Previously it navigated you out of the bank to the wrong side of the wall.
  • Pathfinding around the Kourend castle bank has also been improved.
  • Players can no longer stall the Nylocas Vasilias in the Theatre of Blood.

Account Security Features - Status Update

Originele tekst

In this blog you'll hear directly from the Web team and the Player Support team, as they talk about upcoming improvements to the account security features that we offer.Afbeelding
Although it's been a while since our last update, work on account security improvements has continued. We have just today gone live with website login Authenticator checks, and work continues on further Authenticator improvements. However, we've also endured a sustained multi-month attack on our servers, and the time required to manage this has pushed back other, more visible, projects. Here's an update on where we're at:
Afbeelding
Authenticator Delay
Since the last blog, many of you have told us that you want additional security for the Authenticator. A common request is for the introduction of a delay to Authenticator changes.A delay would give you the chance to block any attempt to remove your Authenticator by someone with access to your email address. However, introducing a delay would also create a number of issues:
  • 1. It requires you to respond to any alerts during the delay period.
  • 2. Any email alert by design relies on an email that's being sent to your compromised email account. Obviously, whomever has control of your email account can easily delete this.
  • 3. If your email alert is deleted, you risk missing the alert should you happen to not log-in during the delay period.
  • 4. There's the added complication of the email potentially being sent to your junk or spam folder.
  • 5. If a hijacker gets into your account and sets their own Authenticator Delay, it would keep you out of the game for even longer.
So, to avoid these flaws we're taking a different approach to improving Authenticator security - Backup Codes.
Afbeelding
Backup Codes
We intend to introduce a Backup Code system. This means you'll receive a Backup Code during Authenticator setup that you'll need to write this down and keep in a safe place. This will be used to remove your Authenticator if you don't have access to it any more, and prevents compromised emails being used to steal accounts. Your Backup Code will ONLY be used on our website to remove your Authenticator. Be sure to keep your Backup Code safe. We've chosen this approach over a delay for a number of reasons:
  • 1. You won't need to intervene to prevent your Authenticator being removed.
  • 2. Hijackers that don't have your backup codes will not be able to remove your Authenticator.
  • 3. If you lose access to your Authenticator, your Backup Code can be used to restore access.
  • 4. Even if someone gains access to your email address, your RuneScape account will remain secure.
  • 5. Other companies have successfully used the same system, giving us a clearer idea of what the right solution looks like.
In preparation for Backup Codes, we have already added Authenticator checks for all website logins. If you lose your backup code you can get a new one when you log-in and pass your Authenticator check. If you don't like the idea of using a Backup Code and you are 100% confident in the security of your email address, then you can continue using the old email method to remove an Authenticator, although obviously we do not recommend it.
Afbeelding
Losing Your Backup Code & Authenticator
Once live, if you lose your Authenticator and Backup Code it will be possible to request help from Player Support, but this process will be very strict and require very clear information to ensure that you are the owner of the account. No request will be actioned for at least 72 hours.
An Authenticator Removal Request to Player Support will be a LAST RESORT.
You will not be able to rely on this service to manage your Authenticator. It will mean you aren't able to access your account for a minimum of 72 hours, and the amount of evidence you will need to prove you're the account owner is VERY HIGH.
Afbeelding
Development Schedule
Here are our current Account Security priorities:
  • Adding Backup Codes to the Authenticator in 2020. We encourage everyone to update their Authenticators to add a Backup Code as soon as it is released.
  • Making it easier to move your Authenticator to a new device if you change phones.
  • Continuing the password complexity work (once we're happy that Authenticators are more secure).
It is possible that we may alter the schedule if this allows us to release security improvements faster.
Afbeelding
We know that Account Security can be quite a complex subject and that progress can appear slow, but hopefully this gives you a clearer idea of the direction we're heading. We'll be back with another tech update in the future. Thanks very muchThe Player Support TeamThe Jagex Web TeamContinue the discussion on Reddit, Discord or on our forums.

Mobile Anniversary and BH Hotspots

Originele tekst

This week we're celebrating Old School Mobile's first birthday, and adding hotspots to the Bounty Hunter Beta!
AfbeeldingOld School Mobile's 1st Birthday!
Afbeelding
It's been one whole year since we released Old School Mobile! To celebrate, we've transformed the fountain at Varrock centre into a giant cake! Make sure to pay it a visit and grab yourself a slice.
AfbeeldingBounty Hunter Beta: Hotspots
We've added 13 hotspots scattered across the Wilderness to the Bounty Hunter Beta. One of these will be active at any given time, with its border marked by glowing orbs. Killing your targets within these hotspots will yield much higher rewards than usual. To be eligible, you'll need a minimum combat level of 50 and to be carrying a Mysterious Emblem of any tier. Bounty Hunters will receive messages when a hotspot is due to change at 10, 5 and 1 minute before. Bonus PointsFor a normal target kill, you'll receive 3, 4 or 5 BH points depending on your killstreak. If you kill your target while in the hotspot, you'll get triple points. Bounty tasks will also give 30 points instead of the usual 10. This bonus does not apply to the milestone points.Emblem BonusesIf you have a killstreak of 2, killing your target in the hotspot will upgrade their emblem as well as your own. Usually, only your emblem would be upgraded and the target's emblem would be destroyed. While on a killstreak of 3 or more, both you and your opponent's emblems will be upgraded upon a kill in the hotspot. LocationsThe hotspots will rotate between the following locations:

1. Mage Arena and Pirate's Hideout 2. Resource Area and Deserted Keep 3. Rogue's Castle 4. Lava Maze 5. Lava Dragon Isle 6. Annakarl7. The Forgotten Cemetary8. Graveyard of Shadows and Ruins9. Bone Yard10. Bandit Camp and Ruins11. Dark Warriors' Fortress12. Chaos Temple13. South-eastern Wasteland
Other BH Beta Changes
Bounty CratesLoot crates have been added to the Emblem Trader's shop. They cost 5 points each and contain a variety of PK-ing supplies and occasionally an Ornate Maul Handle or Mysterious Emblem of any tier. We're also giving you 500 points to spend whenever you log into the Beta to test out the crates and let us know what you think!Player BountiesThe following tasks have been added to the list of player bounties:
  • Kill your target without using Chivalry, Piety, Rigour or Augury
  • Kill your target with no body armour equipped
  • Kill your target with no leg armour equipped
  • Kill your target with no ring or neck armour equipped
  • Drain 50 of your target's Prayer pointing using Smite before killing your target
  • Deal at least 150 damage using Melee before killing your target
  • Deal at least 150 damage using Ranged before killing your target
  • Deal at least 150 damage using Magic before killing your target
The task requiring you to kill a target without the use of Prayers was changed to 'without the use of overhead Prayers'.Target Allocation TimerBounty Hunter players will now be a assigned new target within 1 minute. This is down from between 1 and 2 minutes.Archaic EmblemsThe Emblem Trader will now look for Archaic emblems in your Bank as well as your inventory. This change affects the live game.

Bounty Hunter Rework

Bounty Hunter Rework

Originele tekst

This week sees the return of the Bounty Hunter minigame.
AfbeeldingThe Bounty Hunter Rework
Afbeelding
After three weeks of testing and tweaking, the Bounty Hunter rework has been added to the live game. We'd like to thank everyone for participating in the Beta and giving valuable feedback.Although we're officially re-opening the minigame, we'll continue to monitor feedback and make adjustments as required. For anyone who missed the Beta, here's what you can expect from the new version of Bounty Hunter:
Points and Reward System
Points and KillstreaksBounty Hunters now receive Bounty Points for killing their target. Killing several targets in a row will begin a killstreak that awards more points. Currently, you'll receive 3, 4 or 5 points per kill on killstreaks of 0, 3 and 10, respectively.Bonus points are also awarded for milestone kills (separately from killstreaks) as seen in the table below:
Afbeelding
Player Bounties (Tasks)10 points are also given for completing optional tasks, or 'Bounties' that cycle every 30 minutes. The tasks you receive will be limited to what is possible on your account and can be skipped for free up to three times a day. Your tasks will change every 30 minutes - you must wait for the time to deplete before receiving a new one, even if the current Bounty is complete. Most Bounties involve killing your target with a handicap, offering extra rewards to Bounty Hunters who are skilled enough to complete them, while giving less experienced ones a better chance of winning their fight.A button for checking, skipping and enabling/disabling Bounties can be found in the new Bounty Hunter interface. The Rewards ShopThe new Bounty Points can be spent on rewards from the Emblem Trader's new shop. This contains all the items found there previously (re-costed for the new system) and these additions:
  • Bounty Crates - costing 5 points, these contain a variety of PKing supplies, including the occasional Mysterious Emblems or Ornate Maul Handles.
  • Teleport to Target Teletabs - for 1 point each, these will teleport you to your current target if you have the spell unlocked.
  • Decorative Mysterious Emblems - costing 100 points, this is used to create the Emblems displayed in your POH.
  • A Bounty Hunter hat that upgrades from tier 1 to 6 based on how many target kills you have. The hat changes at these milestones: 1, 25, 100, 250, 1000 and 2500. This reward is free from the shop.
Afbeelding
AfbeeldingUnique Rewards
We hoped to offer some unique rewards for Bounty Hunter. Unfortunately they didn't pass the poll, so they haven't been added. However, we're very much aware that the polling system hasn't been working well in instances where many of the voters don't engage in the content. We're considering alternative ways of offering such updates; perhaps by limiting access to the poll to only those players who've recently engaged with similar content. We're aware that such a requirement could be farmed, and so we'd have to require that the activity had taken place within a window of time before each relevant poll. This way, players hoping to farm the requirements in order to spite vote will have to continue to put in effort each time.As part of this, we'd commit to designing such updates to minimise their impact on players who weren't invited to vote in the poll. For example, a new PvP weapon might be usable only in PvP. But these new polls wouldn't just be about PvP. Boss content and skilling content could potentially be treated in the same way. This may not be the right solution for Old School RuneScape, though, and we're open to alternative approaches, including working with a council of players to guide the designs in the first place. We'll put out a survey in the coming weeks to see how the community feels about this sort of thing. If it's acceptable, we hope to use it to offer more fitting rewards for Bounty Hunter.
Mysterious Emblems
Afbeelding
Those of you who had Mysterious Emblems from before this update will notice that they have begun to crumble and are now known as Archaic Emblems. They can still be used to access the old version of the Emblem Trader's shop.New Mysterious Emblems work differently. Ranging from tiers 1 to 5, they can be bought and sold at the Emblem Trader for 75k, 150k, 300k, 600k, and 1.2M respectively. To upgrade a Mysterious emblem, you'll need to kill a target who is carrying an Emblem of equal or higher tier. When you do, your will go up a tier (doubling in value) and theirs will disappear. High risk, high reward! When carrying an Emblem in the minigame, the interface will show if your target is carrying an Emblem that would make you eligible for an upgrade. If the target will not allow you to upgrade, you can skip them without a penalty, giving you the option to prioritise targets with Emblems that match your tier. can skip them without a penalty, giving you the option to prioritise targets with Emblems that match your tier.
Hotspots
During the Beta, we introduced a player-suggested mechanic called hotspots. These are zones, distributed throughout the Wilderness, that activate on rotation every 30 minutes. To be eligible for hotspot bonuses, you'll need a minimum combat level of 50 and you'll also need to be carrying a Mysterious Emblem of any tier. PointsIf you kill your target in the active hotspot, you'll earn triple the Bounty Points from both the kill and any Bounties you complete.EmblemsWhile on a killstreak of 2, killing your target will cause up to 3 of their Emblems to upgrade and be dropped on death. While on a killstreak of 3+, killing your target will cause up to 3 of your Emblems to upgrade (instead of the usual 1) as well as up to 3 of theirs. Both of these effects occur regardless of the usual emblem upgrade requirements. Locations Below is a map of the potential hotspots. Since the Beta, the ones at the Bone Yard and the south-eastern wasteland have been replaced with three new ones:
Afbeelding
1. Ghorrock 2. Mage Arena and Pirate's Hideout 3. Resource Area and Deserted Keep 4. Rogue's Castle5. Lava Maze6. Lava Dragon Isle7. Annakarl8. The Forgotten Cemetary9. Hobgoblin Mine10. Bandit Camp and Ruins11. Graveyard of Shadows and Ruins12. East Dragons13. Dark Warriors' Fortress14. Chaos TempleThe hotspots range from low to deep Wilderness and contain both multi and single-way combat zones. The rotation selects multi-combat zones less frequently than single-combat zones to ensure a fair balance of each.
The Bounty Hunter Interface
Afbeelding
The minigame's interface has been updated to fit the new mechanics. It still contains your target's display name, combat level, rough location (Wilderness level range), plus the skip and minimise buttons from before. However, it now has:
  • A button to check, skip or enable/disable your Bounty Tasks.
  • A timer to show how long you have left to complete your task/when you'll receive the next one.
  • A button to check the active hotspot's location and time remaining.
The minimap now has a locator arrow that points to the general direction of your target. This is to help you hunt them down in addition to the Wilderness level range shown in the interface. We hope you enjoy this updated version of Bounty Hunter and look forward to your feedback!

Bounty Hunter Rework: Day 1 Feedback

Bounty Hunter Rework: Day 1 Feedback

Originele tekst

AfbeeldingBounty Hunter Rework: Day 1 Feedback
Yesterday we closed the Bounty Hunter Rework Beta and released it in the live game. Since then, players have flooded to Edgeville to try out the changes and let us know what they think!Based on the initial feedback, we would like to make some changes. The list below is by no means exhaustive; we'll be making a note of any other important issues that crop up. Note that these changes aren't guaranteed to come next week as we are now focusing on the Twisted League - but don't worry, they're coming soon. Here are the changes you can look forward to:
  • The Rune Pouch is now less accessible to PKers who play on PvP worlds rather than the Bounty Hunter minigame. In response, we'd like to reduce its cost in the Bounty Hunter shop to 15 points, down from 75.
  • For similar reasons, we'd like to reduce the cost of the Looting Bag from 4 Bounty Points to 2.
  • To encourage players to attempt the Player Bounty Tasks, we'd like to reduce their rotation time from 30 minutes to 20.
Hotspots Some of you have pointed out that bonuses to emblem upgrades are not an appropriate reward for getting kills in hotspots because it's unrealistic to expect players to bring three emblems to deep parts of the Wilderness. It has also come to our attention that some players have boosted the system, so a hotfix has been rolled out to reduce the number of upgraded emblems from each killstreak from three to one. In the meantime, we'll reconsider the incentives for killing targets in hotspots. We're also aware of suggestions for a 'Teleport to Hotspot'. While this would make hotspots more inviting, it's not clear what the effects of creating the ability to teleport to so many different parts of the Wilderness might be. We'd like to hold off on this idea until the hotspot benefits are solidified.

In this first League, The Twisted League, you'll be playing as an Ironman restricted to Kebos & Kourend. As with future Leagues, you'll be racing to complete tasks and score points in order to unlock Relics and rewards that you can show off in the main game!

To start your Twisted League adventure, simply log into any of the worlds marked in green on the world selector page. Upon your first login into Twisted League, you will start off on Tutorial Island with fresh stats. Completing (or skipping) Tutorial Island will land you at the Kourend Castle Courtyard where you will meet the League Tutor and begin the challenge for real.

Read on for more information about the Twisted League.

"My role in the development of the Twisted League was focused around the design of Relics, tasks and rewards. This involved doing research into training methods on Zeah and what it would be like to be locked to Kourend and Kebos as an Ironman.
I also worked on implementing core mechanics such as preventing accounts from leaving the designated zone, unlocking key quests, and adding all the League-specific content changes to the Information interface.
Designing the Relics was the most fun. We really wanted players to feel the effect of their new power, for it to be fun and, most importantly, for it to be a hard choice. I feel confident that as a team we've achieved those goals. I look forward to seeing the reactions from players as they unlock each subsequent tier of Relics to see all the crazy power ups they have to choose from. Even now, during the week leading up to Leagues, I have changed my mind at least three times on which starting Relic I want to go with. I look forward to revealing the stats for which Relics have been selected the most for each tier."
-Mod Husky (@JagexHusky)

"I started my work on Leagues by discussing the Relic design with Mod Husky and helping out in the overall core design process, including the side panel that can be opened at any time to check your progress. I also provided feedback and aided the balancing process to get the game pace and general flow of Leagues right. I am very happy with the end result and I cannot wait to play it together with all of you!"
-Mod Flippy (@JagexFlippy)

"My role in the development team on the Twisted League has been less focused on the Twisted League itself, and more on the concept of Leagues as a whole, looking at the systems that support it and make it all possible. These generic systems are the things that will make future Leagues possible with significantly less work than the Twisted League, as the same foundations can be used with different sets of tasks to complete and different Relics available."
-Mod Lenny (@JagexLenny)

"My role in the Twisted League was primarily the development of the system that allows League Points and rewards to be transferred into the main game. I also did general HiScore administration that allows players' League Points to be recorded on the HiScores page so players can see where they rank as they progress through the League. I also made the engine changes for the in-game world selector page that allows players to log into the League worlds."
-Mod Boko (@JagexBoko)

"My job was to break as much stuff as possible so the developers could make sure it was all fixed before the release date. I spent the early days of Leagues testing trying to escape Zeah by using the PoH, spellbooks, jewellery teleports, and even random events.
I remember Mod Husky tried to force players to complete the Leagues Tutor dialogue and every time I logged in with a new account that had not completed it, I was teleported across the map and forced to complete the dialogue over and over again no matter what I did. I had to complete it about five hundred times."
-Mod Curse (@JagexCurse)

"My role for the Leagues project was to create a variety of cosmetic rewards that could be obtained from the mode. I was very excited to start making them as a few of them had been heavily requested before and it's always great to see player suggestions make it into the game. Although one of my favourite rewards failed the poll, there was still quite a demand for it and I'd imagine these will get requested again in the future, perhaps for a different type of update.
Being an Ironman player myself, I took the opportunity to playtest a little of the early-game of the Twisted Leagues and it was incredibly fun - if you've never played an Ironman account but have been interested in the past, this is the best way to get into it!"

Tasks
Tasks
Afbeelding
Tasks are a collection of goals and achievements which can be completed in the League. These tasks can be for various activities such as skilling, obtaining drops, killing creatures, completing quests or even playing minigames. Completion of a task will award a number of League Points which can be used to unlock Relics and other rewards. Tasks will range from Easy to Master tiers where Easy tasks are considered simple and Master tasks are considered extremely difficult.

Below is a list of League Points you can obtain when completing tiered tasks:

League Points
  • Easy: 10 Points
  • Medium: 50 Points
  • Hard: 100 Points
  • Elite: 250 Points
  • Master: 500 Points
Want to see the full task list? Check the Twisted League Task Interface in-game or head over to the Official Wiki.

Relics
Relics
Afbeelding
Relics are a Leagues specific source of buffs which are unlocked with League Points. Relics can be boosts to XP, buffs to combat prowess, additional luck when obtaining drops, or even buffs to specific skilling activities. Upon leaving Tutorial Island you will be presented with three Relics to choose from without the need for points. This will allow you to choose which strategy you want to use in the League and give you incentive to strive for the next set of Relic options. Once you choose a Relic you will be locked in and will no longer be able to change your Relic selection for that tier. Choose wisely.

Below are the first three Relics you will get to choose from when entering Kourend and Kebos:
Afbeelding
Abyssal Accumulator
  • You have an 85% chance to not consume any ammunition fired (chinchompas excluded)
  • You have an 85% chance to not consume runes when casting any spell
Endless Endurance
  • Your run energy will never drain whilst running
  • Your hitpoints restores 4 times as quickly
Dark Altar Devotion
  • Bones dropped by creatures are automatically buried and award 4x XP, this stacks with any existing XP multipliers
  • Ensouled heads now drop 2 at a time
  • Your prayer drains at 1/2 the speed
As you unlock more Relic options, the buffs become more powerful. To unlock them you will have to continue gaining League Points by completing tasks. Below is a list of the points needed to unlock the different Relic tiers:
  • 2nd Relic: 400
  • 3rd Relic: 1,200
  • 4th Relic: 2,500
  • 5th Relic: 5,000

On top of having a new HiScores page we have also introduced League Firsts. League Firsts are awarded to the player who is first to complete the League's most impressive feats. These will be represented in-game on the noticeboard next to the League Tutor. There will be no extra rewards or points for achieving a League First, although pride is its own reward!

Rewards

Rewards will be tiered to ensure players that participate in Leagues are rewarded for their efforts. Unique rewards will be obtainable by placing in the following tiers:
TierThreshold

Bronze10 League Points

IronTop 80%

SteelTop 60%

MithrilTop 40%

AdamantTop 20%

RuneTop 5%

DragonTop 1%
[/tabel]

Rewards gained will fall under two categories: League-to-League and main game.
League-to-League Rewards
The following rewards only affect the League specific worlds. They will only appear in the next League as a way to show off how well you did last time.

League-to-League Pets
  • Any insured pets gained in the previous League will carry over to the next one.
  • The League Tutor will allow you to reclaim your pets if you lose them.
League Right Click Icons

League Rank Worlds
  • Mithril, Adamant, and Rune League specific worlds will be accessible based on the tier you ranked in in the previous League.
  • You can use any ranked world you meet the tier requirement for. For example, if you ranked in the Adamant tier, you can access both the Adamant and Mithril rank worlds.
League Armour Sets
  • Based on how you placed in the League you will be awarded an armour set that can be used in the next one.
  • This starter set will be a set of armour and a weapon with varying stats that can assist in the early gameplay of the following League.
Main Game Rewards
At the end of the League your League Points will transfer to the main game as currency to spend in the League Reward Store. As we want rewards to be accessible to all participants, we may change the cost of these rewards closer to the end of the League. If changes are made, they will be communicated in future newsposts and represented in the in-game reward shop.

All main game rewards will be cosmetic and tradeable unless otherwise stated and will be offered in the following League. You may choose to save your League Points for the next set of League rewards if you wish.

  • Premier Club 2020 is launching later today. You can head over to the support centre if you have any problems or queries regarding Premier Club.
  • The Western Provinces Elite Diary now states on the interface whether you've used your Zulrah revival reward for the day or not.
  • We've added more ploughs to the Hosidius field for more efficient ploughage.
  • The Bounty Crate is once again available to purchase, but its price has increased to 7 points, and players must have level 50 combat to buy it. The same combat level requirement applies to purchasing dragon weapons from the new store. Though players spending down their old points in the old version of the store can continue buying the dragon weapons without this requirement.
  • In order to address concern and slow down the immediate injection of the items from Bounty Crates into the game, on launch, players with enough points will be able to purchase a maximum of 5 Bounty Crates, after that, every kill will increase the amount of crates they can purchase by another 5. Players will be able to see how many more crates they can purchase by using the value option on the crate inside the new Bounty Hunter store.
  • In various Bounty Tasks, you are asked to deal the finishing blow with a specific combat style. These tasks are now better able to detect that you've done so if the finishing blow is part of a flurry of other hits that you're dealing at the same time.
  • The Bounty Hunter minigame now requires a player to have 48 hours of in-game time, up from the previous 25.
  • Bounty Hunter now waits slightly longer after your previous target kill before assigning you a new one, since players had concerns of not getting enough time after a kill.
  • The new Bounty Hunter reward shop now sells the rune pouch for 15 points rather than 75.
  • The new Bounty Hunter reward shop now sells the looting bag for 2 points rather than 4.
  • The duration permitted for a Bounty Hunter task is now 20 minutes, reduced from 30.
Stay tuned in the coming weeks for the Abyssal Sire changes that you voted for in the latest poll.

Game Improvements Poll Blog

Originele tekst

AfbeeldingGame Improvements Poll
The time has come once again to chip away at the backlog and propose a list of game improvement changes! Our suggestion to amend the polling system to better represent niche communities is still being considered. Our next step is to gather community-wide opinions in our upcoming Annual Survey, and use that data alongside polling behaviour data to come to a decision. In the meantime, the questions in this poll affect the entire community, and so it will be open to everyone.Let us know what you think of the questions being polled and as always, we're happy to take further suggestions. This poll is due to open on November 20th and close on the 25th. Any features that pass may not arrive until early next year.
AfbeeldingPoll Questions
Bags & Sacks
Afbeelding
The Looting Bag allows players to store items while in the Wilderness. The 'Open' option puts items from the ground straight into the bag. We would like other bags to have this functionality.Poll Question #1
Should the Coal Bag have an 'Open/Close' option? When the bag is open, coal that you mine would go into the bag instead of your inventory.Poll Question #2
Should the Gem Bag have an 'Open/Close' option? When the bag is open, gems that you mine would go into the bag instead of your inventory.Poll Question #3
Should the Herb Sack have an 'Open/Close' option? When the sack is open, grimy herbs that you pick up would go into the sack instead of your inventory.Poll Question #4
If Question #3 passes, should this effect apply to herbs grown in farming patches? The Bruma Torch
Afbeelding
We've had several suggestions for making the Bruma torch from the Wintertodt more useful. One of the more popular suggestions, changing it to an off-hand item, may be possible later down the line, but requires extra work as it's currently equipped in the main hand. In the meantime, we'd like to offer these two changes:Poll Question #5
Should the Bruma Torch be able to light the braziers in Wintertodt?Poll Question #6
Should the Bruma Torch act as a light source and be usable for smoking Hunter traps? This would bring it in line with regular torches.Phoenix Recolours
Afbeelding
Alternate versions and recolours of existing pets are a popular request. For now, we're able to offer these recolours (which require less resources) while our graphics team work on other projects.Poll Question #7
Should players be able to recolour their phoenix pets using 1,000 gnomish firelighters? The firelighters would all have to be the same colour. The available recolours would be red, green, blue, purple, and white.Charter Ships
Afbeelding
Poll Question #8
Should a right-click/long-press 'Previous Destination' option be added to charter ships? Selecting this option would take you to the last place you chartered a ship.Spicy Upgrades
Afbeelding
The spices used to make spicy stews take up a lot of bank space, so we'd like to offer two potential ways to store them.Poll Question #9
Should the rat behemoths in Evil Dave's basement have a 1/3 chance to drop one of Doris' shakers? Each behemoth would drop one of four coloured shakers which could be used to store an (almost) infinite number of doses of their respective colour spice. If this question passes, Question #10 will not be implemented regardless of outcome.Poll Question #10
If Question #9 does not pass, should players be able to build a Spice Rack in the Kitchen of their Player Owned Houses? It would require 60 Construction, 3 Teak Planks, 6 Soft Clay, and the 4 dose versions of each colour spice. The rack would be used to store an (almost) infinite number of doses of each spice.Doing Things With the Bank Open
Afbeelding
Being unable to use items while they're in the Bank means you often have to open and close the Bank interface, withdrawing and depositing items multiple times. To improve the experience of using the Bank, we'd like to offer the following:Poll Question #11
Should a right-click/long-press 'Equip' option be added to equipable items in your inventory while the Bank interface is open? A button in the Bank interface would be added to see your equipped items should you wish to unequip them again without closing the interface.Poll Question #12
Should a right-click/long-press 'Eat' option be added to food in your inventory while the Bank interface is open?Poll Question #13
Should a right-click/long-press 'Drink' option be added to suitable items in your inventory while the Bank interface is open? The Graceful Effect
Afbeelding
Currently, players don't receive any run restoration bonuses from earning pieces of the Graceful set until the whole outfit is obtained. We'd like to split the run-restore bonuses among each piece and create an additional bonus for wearing the complete set.Poll Question #14
Should the run restoring effect be split among the pieces of the Graceful outfit with a bonus applied for the whole set? The individual pieces would offer a total of 20% faster run energy restoration with an extra 10% given for wearing the complete outfit, matching the current 30%.Clues
Afbeelding
We would like to offer an emote as the milestone reward for completing 600 Beginner clues. The number 600 was chosen in line with other clue milestone rewards (100 Master, 200 Elite, 300 Hard etc). The emote would have the player 'explore' by raising a sextant and searching for the next clue!Poll Question #15
Should a new 'explore' emote be added as a reward for completing 600 Beginner clues?Poll Question #16
Should Air, Water, Earth, Fire, Mind and Body talismans be added to the Beginner clue loot table?Poll Question #17
Should the Hard clue step that requires players to enter the Duel Arena be moved to outside the actual arena? This would mean they would no longer require the assistance of another player to complete this step.Crystal Tools
Afbeelding
Currently Crystal tools cannot be used at all when they run out of charges. They also use charges in cases where the extra benefit of being a crystal item don't apply (such as using a Crystal Pickaxe to mine dense essence or fight the guardians in the Chambers of Xeric). We'd like to change these to make them fairer to use.Poll Question #18
Should Crystal tools behave as their Dragon counterparts do rather than become unusable when they are inactive? This would be in line with Infernal tool behaviour.Poll Question #19
Should Crystal tools be prevented from consuming charges when using them doesn't provide an additional benefit?New Music Notifications
Afbeelding
Poll Question #20
Should players receive a red message in the chatbox when they receive a new music track? This would come with a toggle for the feature to be enabled/disabled in the settings tab.The Theatre of Blood
Afbeelding
Some aspects of the Maiden of Sugadinti boss fight in the Theatre of Blood are RNG dependent, which can be frustrating. We'd like to change these to be more skill based without affecting their difficulty.Poll Question #21
If you dodge the Maiden's blood splat attack, should the chances of a blood spawn appearing be halved?Poll Question #22
Should the blood spawns cap be lowered overall, and increase as the Maiden absorbs nylocas?Poll Question #23
Should the chances of freezing the nylocas during the Maiden boss fight scale based on the player's Magic accuracy bonus, reaching 100% at 140 and above?Interface ImprovementsAt RuneFest we mentioned that we were working on improvements to the Puro Puro and Mage Training Arena interfaces. Here are the options:Poll Question #24
Should the Puro Puro interface be updated to the one shown in the poll blog? It features better use of space. The current interface:

Poll Question #25
Should the Mage Training Arena interface be updated to the one shown in the poll blog? It matches the style of other interfaces and features quantity buttons for easier bulk-purchasing.The current interface:

Removing Herbs
Afbeelding
When you accidentally plant the wrong tree sapling, it's possible to dig it up again. We'd like to extend the same functionality to herbs.Poll Question #26
Should players be able to dig-up herbs after planting them? The herb would have to have reached the first growth stage to avoid repeated planting as a method of gaining experience. The Jewellery Box
Afbeelding
Poll Question #27
Should the Jewellery Box found in Player Owned Houses receive a right-click/long-press 'Previous Location' option? This would teleport the player to the last location that the Jewellery Box was used to teleport to.Dragonstone ArmourAfter the Song of the Elves launch we revisited the design of Dragonstone armour based on your feedback. Since then, we're reworked alternate looks even further and would like to offer the following:Unlike the other poll questions in this blog which require the standard 75% pass rate, this opinion poll will determine which version will be implemented based on which one is most popular.Poll Question #28
Which version of Dragonstone armour do you prefer? The most popular option will become the final appearance of the set.
AfbeeldingOption A: the current design
AfbeeldingOption B: a lower detailed version
AfbeeldingOption C: a newer, more basic design
Prayer Re-Ordering
Afbeelding
This feature would allow players to customise the order in which Prayers appear in the Prayer tab. It was polled previously, failing at just under 75%. Due to recent demand, we'd like to offer this once again.Poll Question #29
Should players be able to re-arrange the order in which Prayers appear in the Prayer tab? Doing so would not affect the icon size.Re-Obtainable Quest Items
Afbeelding
Some items may only be received during their related quests. Occasionally, there will be no way to recover them if they are destroyed, so we'd like to poll options for re-obtaining them in the two instances below. If there are other items that you would like the chance to re-obtain, we're open to suggestions.Poll Question #30
Should players be able to receive a new Blurite Sword by giving Thurgo a blurite ore and 2 iron bars after completion of The Knight's Sword quest?Poll Question #31
Should players be able to receive a new Dark Dagger from Radimus Erkle after completing Legends' Quest?Weiss Teleport
Afbeelding
Poll Question #32
Should the Weiss Teleport be made available via the Portal Nexus in the Player Owned House?Arceuus Teleports
Afbeelding
Poll Question #33
Should the teleports available on the Arceuus spellbook be made available via the Portal Nexus in the Player Owned House?Voting from the Account Management TabThe final change we'd like to implement is designed to streamline the voting process. Currently, players have to go to a Poll Booth in game to vote on polls - this popular suggestion would allow them to do it from the interface.
Afbeelding The poll buttons as they would appear. Note: the icons next to the buttons are placeholder only.
Poll Question #34
Should the Account Management tab be updated to show when a poll is open, open the past poll archive, and allow players to vote?Fremennik Sea Boots
Afbeelding
Poll Question #35
Should Fremennik Sea Boots (from the Fremennik Achievement Diary) have their inventory icons adjusted to point at an angle as shown in the poll blog? This should make them look more like boots.

Twisted League Stats and Changes

Originele tekst

This week sees changes to the Twisted League and Bounty Hunter.
AfbeeldingTwisted League Stats & Changes
Last week saw the launch of the Twisted League! Since then hundreds of players have explored every corner of Kourend and Kebos, killed thousands of cows, ploughed across Hosidius, and ultimately slain the mighty Olm.For those of you that haven't dipped your feet into Old School RuneScape's newest game mode, it's not too late to get started and earn your rewards!

Following feedback from the first week of the League, we've made the following changes:Arcane Courier
Afbeelding
Players will now be notified how many resources exist in the Bank when the Arcane Courier Relic sends those same resources to the Bank.Geodes, bottles and nests containing clue scrolls are no longer automatically banked by the Arcane Courier Relic.Relic and Task Information
Afbeelding
The message from the Hardcore Harvester relic that tells the player they cannot receive triple resources because their inventory is full has been added to the game filter. The tasks to serve 20 stews and 20 pizzas now specify that 30% or higher appreciation is required to complete the task. The description of the Unnatural Selection Relic has been updated to state that the same Farming Contract may not be chosen back to back, unlike Slayer Tasks. Thanks for all of your feedback! We're still open to suggestions so let us know how your Twisted League experience is going via the normal channels.

Bugfixes
  • Fixed an issue where some Farming Contracts tasks were not successfully completing. They will now complete upon selection of a new Contract.
  • Fixed an issue where players could get assigned the wrong Farming Contract if they were boosted.
  • Fixed an issue where cactus, potato cactus and celastrus trees were not selectable by Unnatural Selection.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented players in the Endless Endurance gang from restoring Hitpoints while Prayer flicking.

Bounty Crates
Afbeelding
Ironmen can now buy Bounty Crates from the shop. The version they will receive contains limited supplies based on the items players can obtain for themselves after skilling up or completing requisite Quests. For example, if you are an Ironman and the crate rolls anglerfish, but you only have the Fishing and Cooking levels to catch and cook a swordfish, the crate will give swordfish instead. Similarly, if the crate chose karambwan, but you hadn't done Tai Bwo Wannai Trio, it would instead give a fish that you could have obtained for yourself. The same applies to potions, by the way; if the crate rolled for a Super Restore potion, but your Herblore level was too low, it would substitute a lower-level potion instead. The crates will still contain Death and Blood runes (which can always be obtained via shops) but will not contain Mysterious Emblems which would create easy access to large amounts of gold.Trouver Parchment & the Rune Pouch
Afbeelding
Trouver Parchment may now be used to protect the Rune Pouch.
AfbeeldingIn Other News
  • An unnecessary message has been removed from player owned house storage.
  • The LMS 'broadcast' that states the location of the final safe zone has been recoloured to make the location easier to see.
  • The message given when you get a Bounty Hunter kill without carrying a Mysterious Emblem has been shortened.
  • There is no longer a double-length delay when attempting to teleport via spirit trees or fairy rings in Deadman worlds.

The Nightmare of Ashihama Poll Blog

Originele tekst

Following the RuneFest Reveals, we now present an in-depth blog on The Nightmare of Ashihama.

The Nightmare boss arena. Image is work in progress concept art and is subject to change.
Far to the east, there's an island called Ashihama which is home to a group of sirens. For a long time, the isle was plagued by nightmares. The sirens' dreams were stolen and feasted upon by a force beyond all reckoning. A band of brave sirens led by Shura defeated the creature in its own lair, but somehow, it escaped across the ocean to Morytania... and where else would a creature of nightmare hide, but the cursed town of Slepe?

The Nightmare has feasted on the dreams of the townsfolk and become so powerful that it can no longer be ignored. Now Shura needs your help to enter the Sisterhood Sanctuary below the town of Slepe and defeat The Nightmare once and for all.

Expand the sections below to learn more about The Sisterhood Sanctuary, The Nightmare of Ashihama, and the Rewards.

Sisterhood Sanctuary
Sisterhood Sanctuary
The Sisterhood were once a group of pious Saradominist warriors, charged with fighting for their god on the bloody fields of Morytania. Their leader was a member of the Justiciars, an elite holy order of Saradomin who wielded power far above that of an average human. Her name was Phosani.

As the war for Hallowvale raged on, Phosani began to feel betrayed by her god - and it appears that some of her companions felt the same.

The exact details of the Sisterhood's conversion to Zamorak are not known but suffice to say they would be far too gory to detail here. What we do know is that at some point Phosani and her loyal companions allied with Lowerniel Drakan, the leader of the vampyre forces, and offered up the majority of her army as a blood tithe to him. The remainder served as thralls for Drakan's vampyres, and the Sisterhood took up residence in an abandoned hermitage nearby.

The sect eventually expanded their lair by building a handful of houses and digging deeper into the dungeons beneath the town. The subterranean warren became a sanctuary where they could enact their rites and offerings in relative peace.

One of the high ranking members of the Sisterhood was a divine healer and a talented chemist who experimented with many strange tinctures. During one such experiment, she discovered a miraculous formula that she called the 'Elixir of Everlasting'. Legends say that this elixir could extend a human life indefinitely.

Of course, Phosani deeply desired the elixir so she could live as long as her vampyre lords - but such meddling with the natural order always has consequences. The elixir had devastating effects on the drinker - they would sleep for longer and longer at a time, until one day they simply never woke up again.

It wasn't long before Phosani and her generals succumbed to this sleeping sickness. Out of respect, their still-sleeping bodies were moved deep into the sanctuary and the entrance was sealed behind them. The formula was hidden away to prevent more victims from imbibing the elixir.

The townsfolk were so moved by Phosani's plight, and so frightened of the elixir that caused it, that they renamed the town 'Sleep'. Of course, over time, the spelling has changed...

The Sisterhood Sanctuary. Image is work in progress and is subject to change.
In modern day Slepe it seems that Phosani's affliction has resurfaced. The sleeping curse has attracted The Nightmare, a creature that feeds on dreams and twists them into dreadful nightmares. Since The Nightmare has taken up residence, the townspeople have reluctantly agreed to reopen the Sisterhood Sanctuary. But all may not be as it first appears once you face The Nightmare for yourself...
Afbeelding

The Nightmare
The Nightmare
The true origin of this creature is unknown, but Ashihama legend tells of an ancient ritual that birthed an otherworldly horror. Taking on the appearance of a large, hag-like woman, this fiend gains energy by leeching people's life force during their sleep. Those affected experience horrifying nightmares, and thus the monster was named.
Afbeelding
The Nightmare. Image is work in progress and is subject to change.
The Nightmare is a group boss located in the Sisterhood Sanctuary below Slepe. You can access the boss by running south of Port Phasmatys or by paying 10,000 coins to Andras (north of the Ectofuntus) to take a boat. Shura will be found outside of the boss room offering information about the fight.

When the first player steps through the barrier a timer will count down to the arrival of The Nightmare to allow more players to enter the encounter. Once The Nightmare spawns no more players will be allowed to enter her arena until she despawns again, which she will do upon being defeated or when all challengers have left. Dying during The Nightmare fight will cause a Hardcore Ironman to lose their status, reverting them to a regular Ironman.

Poll Question #1
Should we add a new group boss called The Nightmare to Old School RuneScape? This boss would be located in the depths of the Slepe Dungeon.

Rewards
The Rewards
We'd like players to test out the rewards before voting on them. This will allow us to make any necessary changes to ensure the rewards are balanced and fitting to Old School RuneScape. From Thursday's game update, we will open the tournament worlds with the following rewards for you to try out. All of the rewards are subject to change. Please let us know your thoughts via the discussion links found at the bottom of this page.

Inquisitor's Mace

The Inquisitor's Mace was once the personal weapon of The Inquisitor, a former Justiciar who was one of the founders of Slepe. Since their disappearance, it has remained sealed in the Sisterhood Sanctuary, lost to the world. However, The Nightmare's arrival has unearthed this powerful weapon. Are you brave enough to claim it?
Afbeelding

This 1-handed crush weapon will be a rare drop from The Nightmare. It will be tradeable and requires 75 Attack to equip. It will not degrade. It will have the following stats:

Poll Question #2
Should The Inquisitor's Mace be a potential reward from The Nightmare? This item will be tradeable and requires 75 Attack to equip.

Staff of Nightmares and Orbs

Its former name long since lost to the world, the Staff of Nightmares is a powerful magic weapon once in the possession of the shamans of Ashihama. Through the use of different orbs, the shamans were able to adapt the staff to any task, giving them complete power over the island. Alas, even the shamans were not able to withstand the power of The Nightmare. Now, their staff is all that remains...

When killed, The Nightmare has a rare chance of dropping the Staff of Nightmares. This staff will be tradeable and require 65 Magic to equip. It will not degrade and will autocast both standard and ancient spells. It will have the following stats:
Afbeelding
The Nightmare will also have a rare chance of dropping three different orbs. These orbs are tradeable and can be attached to the Staff of Nightmares. Attaching an orb to the staff makes it untradeable and gives it a Magic requirement of 75. The orbs will have the following effects:
  • Harmonised Orb (blue): Allows the Staff to cast standard spells a tick faster than normal and removes the tick delay when autocasting. However, the staff loses the ability to autocast ancient spells.
  • Volatile Orb (orange): Gives the Staff a special attack that fires a single spell at the target. This spell requires no runes to use but costs 50% special attack energy. The attack deals up to 65 base damage (which can be increased using damage boosting items) with 50% improved accuracy.
  • Eldritch Orb (green): Gives the Staff a special attack that fires a single spell at the target. This spell requires no runes to use but costs 75% special attack energy. The attack deals up to 50 base damage (which can be increased using damage boosting items) and restores the casters Prayer points by 50% of the damage dealt. This can boost the caster's Prayer points above their Prayer level to a maximum of 120.
Poll Question #3
Should the Staff of Nightmares be a potential reward from The Nightmare? This item will require 65 Magic to equip when uncharged and can be altered with different coloured orbs.

Poll Question #4
If question 3 passes, should the Harmonised Orb be a potential reward from The Nightmare as described in the blog?

Poll Question #5
If question 3 passes, should the Volatile Orb be a potential reward from The Nightmare as described in the blog?

If question 3 passes, should the Eldritch Orb be a potential reward from The Nightmare as described in the blog?

Siren's Tome

A magical tome created by the sirens of Ashihama. This tome was once in the possession of Quin, a powerful siren who ruled the eastern seas. The tome was lost when one of her servants betrayed her. Eventually, the tome found its way back to Ashihama, where it was claimed by The Nightmare.

The Nightmare has a rare chance of dropping the Siren's Tome. This tome will be tradeable and require 75 Magic to equip. It will not degrade. It will have the following stats:

We are also open to the suggestion of Siren's Tome being an attachment to the Mage's Book.

Poll Question #7
Should the Siren's Tome be a potential reward from The Nightmare? This item will be tradeable and require 75 Magic to equip.

Inquisitor's Armour

The Inquisitor's Armour once belonged to The Inquisitor. She crafted this armour from her old Justiciar garb, altering it to better reflect her newfound ferocity. The Nightmare's emergence has disturbed this powerful armour from its resting place, ready for a new owner to claim.

When killed, The Nightmare has a rare chance of dropping one of the three pieces of The Inquisitor's Armour, a new set of melee armour with a focus on crush accuracy and defence. The three pieces are the Great Helm, the Hauberk and the Tassets. All three pieces require 70 Strength and 30 Defence to equip. They are all tradeable, do not degrade, and can be packed into a set at the Grand Exchange.

The Inquisitor's Armour will have the following stats:

We intend to poll everything in this blog following beta testing and in accordance with your feedback. Please make sure you have expanded the various sections to see all of the information available. Your feedback is invaluable, and as such we invite you to be vocal about sharing it with us. Your comments will help us finalise The Nightmare of Ashihama design.

Ashihama Rewards Beta and Sire Changes

Originele tekst

This week sees the release of a rewards beta for the upcoming Nightmare of Ashihama boss as well as Abyssal Sire improvements.
AfbeeldingThe Nightmare of Ashihama: Rewards Beta
We've opened some beta worlds for you to test the new rewards designed for the Nightmare of Ashihama! The beta will be hosted on Tournament Worlds. On these worlds, you spawn at Clan Wars with Tournament Chests nearby containing various supplies and equipment (this time including the new boss rewards). Tournament Worlds use a separate profile than your main account does, so no progress is saved or affects your main profile - feel free to go anywhere in Old School to try out the new gear! For the purposes of this beta, worlds 446, 464 and 477 will become Tournament Worlds. Once the beta closes, these worlds will be turned off rather than converted back into normal worlds to adjust for reduced traffic.More information on the backstories of each item can be found in our Nightmare of Ashihama poll blog. All the rewards are a work in progress and subject to change as well as passing a poll. Let us know what you think of them on these discussion threads on Twitter, Reddit, and the Official Forums!Changelist:Since the release of the poll blog, the following adjustments have been made:
  • The stab, slash, crush and magic defence of all Inquisitor armour pieces were slightly reduced.
  • The Volatile Orb's special attack base damage was reduced to 58 (not including the staff's built-in 15% additional Magic damage).
  • The Eldritch Orb's special attack base damage was reduced to 44 (not including the staff's built-in 15% additional Magic damage).
  • The Siren's Tome Magic damage stats was reduced from 10% to 4% and it was given -10 stab, slash, crush and ranged defence.
  • The Staff of Nightmares has been renamed to the Nightmare Staff.

The Nightmare Staff
AfbeeldingNote that special attack animations are placeholder only.
The Nightmare Staff is a magical weapon requiring 65 Magic to equip. It is able to autocast both Standard and Ancient spells and can be adapted using three attachments:
  • The Harmonised Orb gives the staff a passive effect that allows it to cast standard spells one tick faster than normal and removes the tick delay when autocasting. However, the staff loses the ability to autocast Ancient spells.
  • The Volatile Orb gives the Staff a special attack that fires a single spell at the target. This spell requires no runes to use but costs 50% special attack energy. The attack deals up to 58 base damage (which can be increased using damage boosting items) with 50% improved accuracy. This number includes the Staffs own Magic damage bonus.
  • The Eldritch Orb gives the Staff a special attack that fires a single spell at the target. This spell requires no runes to use but costs 75% special attack energy. The attack deals up to 44 base damage (which can be increased using damage boosting items). This number includes the Staffs own Magic damage bonus. It also restores the caster's Prayer points by 50% of the damage dealt. This can boost the caster's Prayer points above their Prayer level to a maximum of 120.
When the staff has an orb attached, the Magic requirement increases to 75.

AfbeeldingThe Abyssal Sire
Phase Transitions
Afbeelding
The Abyssal Sire transitions to its next phase when enough damage was dealt. Previously, the check for damage was carried out when the boss was hit but before damage was applied. For example, the boss transitions to Phase 3 once it reaches 200 hp (50%). If the Sire had 230 HP and you hit it for 35 damage, it would be left with 195 HP (below the phase transition threshold). Rather than transition to the next phase, it would wait for your next hit. Let's say the XP drop you receive indicates you "hit" another 35. Rather than go down to 160 HP, the Sire would then move to the next phase with the 195 HP it had from before. This has been changed so that players no longer deal "lost" hits and the Sire transitions when expected.Shadow Spell Stuns
Afbeelding
Successful stuns against the Sire using Shadow spells give you 30 seconds to kill all four of its respiratory systems. However, it takes about 10-15 seconds to kill each respiratory system, so this phase usually takes a minimum of two shadow spells.Previously, quickly killing the first two respiratory systems resulted in dead-time where it was not worth starting the remaining two. This was because the Sire's remaining stun had to expire before the next could be cast. this has been changed so that the Sire can be re-stunned with the following success chances:Shadow Rush: 25%Shadow Burst: 50%Shadow Blitz: 75%Shadow Barrage: 100%The Sire can now be stunned to begin the fight too. This will still trigger its waking-up animation, so you won't know until it's fully awake if the stun was successful (unless Shadow Barrage was used).

Game Improvements and Nightmare Beta Changes

Originele tekst

This week sees the release of some content from Poll #69, Boss HiScores, and changes to the Nightmare of Ashihama Rewards Beta.
AfbeeldingPoll #69: Game Improvements
We've made some changes to the game based on the results of Old School Poll #69. Nice.Mage Training Arena Shop Interface
Afbeelding
The Mage Training Arena Shop interface has been updated to include quantity buttons for buying multiple items.Puro-Puro Shop Interface
Afbeelding
The Elnock's Exchange interface has been updated. It now features better use of the space available and a confirmation button that reminds you what you're purchasing.Jewellery Box
Afbeelding
You can now teleport to your previous destination by either right clicking or long pressing the jewellery box in the PoH.Voting from Account Management Tab
Afbeelding
The Account Management tab has been updated to include a polling interface. This interface shows you when a poll is active, lets you view poll archives and lets you vote from anywhere in game. You can still use the poll booths across Gielinor if you prefer to vote the good old-fashioned way.
AfbeeldingBoss HiScores
Afbeelding
There is now an option to sort players by their kill count for various bosses on the HiScores page. Players are ranked from highest kill count to lowest.
AfbeeldingThe Nightmare Reward Beta
Afbeelding
The Nightmare of Ashihama Rewards Beta is still underway. To try out the potential rewards for yourself, simply log on to one of the Tournament Worlds.

On these worlds, you spawn at Clan Wars with Tournament Chests nearby that contain various supplies and equipment - this time including rewards from The Nightmare boss. Tournament Worlds use a separate profile from your main account, so no progress is saved. Feel free to go anywhere in Old School to try out the new gear!

Worlds 446, 464 and 477 are being used for this beta. Once the beta closes, these worlds will be turned off.

Here are the changes we've made today:
  • Some new animations have been added to the Inquisitor's Mace
  • Some new animations have been added to all variations of the Nightmare Staff
  • All staff variants now have a Hitpoints requirement of 50 to wield
  • The Volatile Nightmare Staff's special attack cost has been increased to 55%. This is to make it harder to combo with other 50% special attack weapons
  • The Magic attack on the Siren's Tome has been lowered from +25 to +15
  • The Magic defence on the Siren's Tome has been lowered from +20 to +15
  • The Magic attack on the Inquisitor's Great Helm has been lowered from +0 to -5
  • The Magic attack on the Inquisitor's Hauberk has been lowered from +3 to -11
  • The Magic attack on the Inquisitor's Plateskirt has been lowered from +1 to -9
  • Siren's Tome must now be created by attaching a Siren's Charm to a Mage's Book
Here are the changes we've made earlier in the week:
  • The slash, stab, crush and ranged values on the Siren's Tome have been lowered from +0 to -10
  • The Magic damage % on the Siren's Tome has been lowered from +10% to +4%
  • The Volatile Orb and Eldritch Orb special attack no longer have a projectile. Instead they will always hit the enemy two ticks after casting - this attack is subject to accuracy checks
  • The base damage for both the Volatile Orb and Eldritch Orb special attacks now scales with the player's Magic level
    • The max hit of the Volatile Orb special attack is now capped at 58 before Magic damage bonuses
    • The max hit of the Eldritch Orb special attack is now capped at 44 before Magic damage bonuses
We'd also at some stage like to add an animation on the target the tick before the special attack hits. This will help when an opposing player is casting the special attack at long distance.

You can read more about the Nightmare of Ashihama Rewards Beta here.
AfbeeldingTwisted League Rankings & Claim Points
Afbeelding

Stay tuned next week for the Christmas Holiday Event developed by our newest junior content developer, Mod Oasis! We'd also like to take this time to remind you that during the holiday break updates will be paused. We aim to release the rest of the content from Poll #69 in January.
