This week, we've overhauled one of RuneScape's most venerable systems luck.Where there were once but a few ways of manipulating your combat and skilling fortunes, now there are more tailored for various phases of your RuneScape adventure.
Since the Game Jam, Mod Timbo's worked tirelessly to gather your feedback and put together the rework released today. Read on for full details.
How Does Luck Work?
Luck is a hidden stat that affects your chance of benefiting from:
- Rare drops from Slayer
- Unique drops from bosses
- Clue-specific rewards from clue scrolls
- Favourable skilling procs (see below)
- Accessing the rare drop table (now granting an additional drop, not a replacement)
What Content Does Luck Affect?
Tier 1
- Level 1-50 Slayer monsters
- Easy clues
- Bosses:
- KBD
- Giant Mole
- Increased chance to access the rare drop table
- Level 51-80 Slayer monsters
- Skilling:
- Mining Gems
- Jewelled statuettes and tradeable Sceptre from Pyramid Plunder
- Opening Shade chests
- Flash Powder Factory rubble searching
- Medium clues
- Bosses:
- Chaos Elemental
- Kalphite Queen
- Exiled Kalphite Queen
- God Wars Dungeon 1 (not Nex)
- Barrows
- Dagannoth Kings
- Increased chance to access the rare drop table, and to receive better loot from it
- Level 81-99 Slayer monsters
- High-level skilling:
- Rare drops from Elf City pickpocketing
- Increased chance of Black Ibis outfit
- Improved loot from kingly implings
- Improved chance of Sceptre of the Gods
- Hard clues
- Bosses:
- Queen Black Dragon
- Nex
- God Wars Dungeon 2 (not Telos)
- Kalphite King
- Corporeal Beast
- Further chance to access the rare drop table, and to receive better loot from it
- All Slayer monsters
- All skilling
- Elite clues, and lower
- Bosses:
- Angel of Death
- Telos
- Raids
- Rise of the Six
- Vorago
- Araxxor/Araxxi
- All lower-tier bosses
- Yet further increased chance to access the rare drop table, to receive better loot from it, and to receive certain unique drops.
Ring of Luck
Stats:
- Level 15 ring stats (+3 to all styles, no armour)
- Tier 1 luck enhancement
- 11 Crafting, 7 Magic
- Silver bar, cut lapis lazuli, ring mould, water rune, cosmic rune
- Note that while this item is only craftable by members, it can be bought and used by free players.
Stats:
- Level 40 ring stats (+10 to all styles, no armour)
- Tier 2 luck enhancement
- 55 Crafting, 68 Magic
- Gold bar, cut dragonstone, ring mould, 15 water runes, 15 earth runes, cosmic rune
- This is the existing ring of wealth, with new stats and its luck effects updated to the new Tier 2 set.
Stats:
- Level 50 ring stats (+13 to all styles, no armour)
- Tier 3 luck enhancement
- 72 Crafting, 87 Magic
- Gold bar, cut onyx, ring mould, 20 earth runes, 20 fire runes, cosmic rune
- Takes the place of the Ring of Stone in the Crafting skill.
- The existing ring of stone is unchanged, but is now a drop from TzHaar and TokHaar.
- The requirement to cut onyx and make an onyx ring is now 72 Crafting.
Stats:
- Level 60 ring stats (+17 to all styles, no armour)
- Tier 4 luck enhancement
- 91 Crafting, 87 Magic, 60 Invention
- Gold bar, cut alchemical onyx, 20 earth runes, 20 fire runes, cosmic rune
- This new item requires a new material alchemical onyx created via the Invention skill.
Collector's Insignia
- When uncharged, the collector's insignia imparts tier 2 luck benefits.
- When charged, it imparts tier 3 luck benefits, with charges that deplete with every kill, skilling action or clue.
- It continues to grant its other benefits, such as increased Agility XP.
- The existing potion now imparts tier 2 luck benefits.
- At 77 Herblore, it can be combined with 6 onyx bolt tips to make an enhanced luck potion, which imparts tier 3 luck benefits.
- Works as a tier 2 luck item.
- Works as a tier 1 luck item.
- Continues to be dropped from the rare drop table, but now requires tier 4 luck to obtain.

- Mod Stu has made improvements to a number of older quests:
- Imp Catcher has been rewritten, and is now based around performing a task for each of four imps in exchange for their beads.
- Heroes' Quest no longer requires a second player to complete.

Patch notes
Graphical- Some environment issues surrounding the island The Faraway Place Where Things Are Kept have been fixed.
- Players no longer receive extra extenders when world hopping.
- It is no longer possible to gain more than 10 supplies' worth of XP per day from handing in Goebie supplies. Handing in any more than 10 supplies will not give XP and the extra objects will be removed.
- The Temple Trekking tasks from the Morytania Task Set now require the NPC to be taken only on routes that match their difficulty.
- Achieving maximum points (100) in a Guthixian Cache will no longer bring up a confirmation box when attempting to leave early.
- Stackable junk refiners can now be used to complete invention tech tree tasks.
- The augmented Seren god bow now correctly says 'disassemble' instead of 'destroy'.
- The Garden of Tranquility quest now correctly states Bernard's location as Taverley.
- Telos's shockwave will no longer hurt you on the transition between phases 3 and 4.
- Telos's SO. MUCH. POWER! attack will no longer injure you if you get hit by it while transitioning from Phase 1 to 2.
- Sunshine's animation when used with the Planted Feet perk has been extended to match the active duration the perk.
- Deathmatch taunts 6 to 10 can be set up correctly once again.
- A warning will be displayed in your chat (if it isn't filtered) should you have less than 500 charges left in your blood essence when you activate it.
- You can no longer alch or drop the demonic skull while in combat.
- You can now track your current Telos kill streak in the Beasts tab.
- A erroneous pose has been removed from the Vindicta & Gorvek 'learn' page found within the Beasts tab.
- The 'Salty' title will now be removed whenever/if new requirements are added to it. This includes the Hanto armour hence those who have not yet purchased the pieces from Boni will be unable to activate the title.
- Certain problems that could be caused by entering Death's office on a Bounty Hunter world no longer occur.
- The Imp Catcher quest now requires 4 unique *non-tradeable* beads discovered during the quest, instead of the beads dropped by imps. If you've not yet completed Imp Catcher, talk to Wizard Mizgog for written directions to the sanguine, choleric, melancholic and phlegmatic imp.
- The Imp Catcher quest now gives its Magic XP reward in the form of an XP lamp.
- Wizard Mizgog's wander range has been reduced.
- Dialogue trees on Wizard Mizgog and Wizard Grayzag now loop back to the start of the conversation instead of dropping out.
- An aggressive mugger near the earth altar has been removed.
- The guidance system notification meant to display the first time the player burns food should no longer trigger when the recipe doesn't create a burned food object.
- Heroes' Quest has undergone a suite of quality-of-life improvements. Most notably, while the partner gameplay has been retained, you can now complete the quest on your own. Bring a lockpick.
- After completing Heroes' Quest, the oily fishing rod can now be reclaimed from Gerrant.
- After completing Heroes' Quest, ice gloves can now be reclaimed from the high priest of Entrana.
- Camorra and the origins of the Ice Queen are now mentioned in Heroes' Quest.
- After being freed from his cell in Taverley Dungeon, Velrak the explorer now resides at the entrance to the dungeon.
- Loot beams for the lore book drops that were recently granted bad luck mitigation have been updated, in order that they clear more reliably (and generally behave like other loot beams).
- Adamant dragons in the Brimhaven Dungeon now have the same chance to drop lore books as the adamant dragons in the Ancient Cavern.
